    • Newspaper Obituary - Thursday Evening, September 9, 1920 Daily Sentinel - Rome, New York - Sudden Death - Mrs. Matilda Cummings Passes Away From Heart Trouble - Shortly after supper on Wednesday evening, Mrs. Matilda Cummings died very suddenly at the home of her son, Willia Cummings, 302 S. Jay street. She had prepared the meal and later complained about feeling ill. She called a neighbor, Mrs. Almeda Service, who did what she could for the stricken woman. Within a few minutes, Mrs. Cummings died while sitting in a chair. Dr. H. J. Teller, coronor, was out of town, so Dr. H. W. Thomssen, coroner of Utica was called. He said that death was due to neuraigia of the heart and acute indigestion. Dr. R. J. Marshall was also called on the case. Mrs. Cumming has been in feeble health for some time. The body was given to the charge of the Wiggins Company. Mrs. Cummings was born in Bridgeport, N.Y., 76 years ago and at the age of 16 years was married to Mr. Cummings who died in Oriskany Falls ten years ago. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Cummings came to this city to make her home with her son. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Vernon. Two sons and two daughters survive, Fred and Willis Cummings and Mrs. Fred Henderson of this city and Mrs. Clara Bennett of Chittenango.

      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday Morning, September 9, 1920 Utica Morning Telegram - Mrs. Matilda Cummings died early this evening at her home, 301 Jay street this city, She was 0 years of age and had been suffering severly from neuraiga of the heart for some time. Mrs. Cummings was a widow, her husband, William Cummings, having predeceased her by 10 years. She was born at Bridgeport and was a member of the Methodist Church at Verona. She is survived by two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Fred Anderson, Fred Cummings and Willis Cummings, all of Rome, and Mrs. Clara Bennett of Chittenango. In the absense of Coroner H. J. Teller, Coronor H. W. Thomssen of Utica was called. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
