      Doris L. Waggoner, 70, County Route 2, Orwell, a native of Lowville, died Thursday at her winter home in Chiefland, Fla.

      The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Thomas Howell, pastor of Vorea Community Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell.

      Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Merrill Waggoner Memorial Fund, in care of Sandy Creek Central School.

      Surviving are two sons, Victor M. and George S., both of Orwell; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Potter, Orwell, and Jean Daniels, Baldwinsville, and two brothers, Stanley West, Liverpool, and Lamont West, Wenatachee, Wash.

      A grandson, Merrill V. Waggoner, died May 16, 1990.

      She was born June 2, 1922, at Petrie's Corners, Lowville, a daughter of Hiram and Catherine Bush West. She had lived in Orwell since 1937, and spent winters in Chiefland, Fla..

      She married Merrill Waggoner Aug. 8, 1942, in Richland. The couple owned and operated a dairy farm for many years. Mr. Waggoner died Nov. 28, 1982.

      Mrs. Waggoner retired in 1982 after 17 years with General Electric Co., Syracuse. She was previously employed at Will & Baumer Candle Co., Syracuse, and the Oswego County Tuberculosis Sanitarium, Orwell.

      Mrs. Waggoner was a member of the Orwell Union Church and a past member of its Dalked class. She was also a member of the Rosa Garden Club.
