On Thursday of last week, while engaged about the house, in her usual family duties, Mrs. Nancy DURFEE, wife of Delos DURFEE, dropped to the floor and died, from heart failure. Coroner CUSACK was called and decided the sudden deah was caused by heart trouble. The funeral was held from her late home on Monday afternoon, interment at Lewis Corners. Mrs. DURFEE and her husband have been residents (illegible line here) years, and they were held in high regard by their friends and acquaintances. In his affliction Mr. DURFEE has the sympathy of all.

A Good Woman Gone

Minnie Florence DURFEY was born at Union City, Branch Co, MI 7 Feb 1859, and departed for her better home 11 May 1916. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Cyrus Albert DURFEY in the month of April 1876 at Greenville, later moving to Cedar Springs, where they have since resided.

Six children were born to this union, four of whom survive, Mrs. Ethel ANNIS, of Greenville; Mrs. Grace HOUGH, Wilbur, and Florence DURFEY of [this] village.

The deceased leaves, besides her four children, a bereaved husband, three grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Esther CORNWELL and Mrs. Stella Mae BUSH.

Mrs. DURFEY was a woman of splendid character and those who had the privilege of knowing her feel they are better for her having lived. She had been ill for the past few years, but displayed great Christian fortitude during her suffering. The husband and family have the sympathy of the entire community, who mourn with them.

Albert A. DURFEY, 70, a retired farmer, died Thursday morning at hishome, No. 259 South Fifth Street. He leaves his wife and one adopted son.

Mr. DURFEY came here two years ago from the town of Granby, where he had been a farmer for several years. He was a member of the G.A.R. Borrowed Time Club, and the Methodist Brotherhood.

The funeral was held at 2:00 on Monday afternoon at the house and a half hour later at the First Methodist Church.

Aldwin W. Rice Obituary
Aldwin W. Rice, age 88, resident of Pulaski passed away, Monday, at Oswego Hospital. Aldwin was born April 24, 1937, in West Rupert, Vermont, the son of L. Wayne and N. Grace Hurley Rice and spent his childhood on a dairy farm. He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1955. Aldwin was married to his wife, Viva M. Letterman Rice on May 30, 1959. Aldwin worked many years for GE and Harris Corp. Upon retirement he opened Ringgold Auto Service in Pulaski in 1993.

Aldwin was a charter member of Salmon River Youth Hockey. He was involved in many capacities including over 30-years as a coach. He was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens.

If it was needed, Dad could build it.

If it was broken, Dad could fix it.

If there was a problem, Dad could solve it.

Surviving, are his wife of 66-years, Viva of Pulaski, children, Robert Rice of Pulaski, daughter, Paula (Joseph) Harris of Pulaski, Paul (Deborah) Stone of Wake Forest, NC, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Aldwin was predeceased by his parents, a brother Darwin, sons, Alan and Daniel and granddaughter Emily.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Monday, November 10th at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski with burial in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., prior to the funeral.

Beverly H. Wheeler Obituary
Beverly H. Wheeler, age 85, life resident of Altmar and Williamstown, passed away, Thursday, August 29th on what would have been her grandson, Eric’s 35th birthday. Beverly was born August 22, 1939, in Pulaski, the daughter of Edward and Mildred Holcomb Daniels. She attended Altmar Parish High School. Beverly was married to her husband of 63-years, Kenneth Wheeler Jr. on March 31, 1956, and he passed away November 1, 2019. She served as an Oswego County Legislator for the Town of Albion from 1980 until 1994. Beverly was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Amboy and former District Deputy Grand Matron in 1986. Beverly was a member of the Altmar Methodist Church. She was her children’s first friend, first teacher, first confidant and their fierce protector. She will be loved and missed all the days of their lives. God bless you Momma, and kiss Dad for us all.

Surviving are her children, Kenneth Wayne (Cathy) Wheeler of Altmar, Ricky (Cheryl) Wheeler of Tennessee, Gail Wheeler of Cicero, David (Betsy) Wheeler of Manlius, Sheri Blake of Penfield and Donald Wheeler of Syracuse, 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Beverly was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Jr., son, Daniel, grandson, Eric, son in-law, Charles Blake, and her lifelong best friend, Mary Barber.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 3rd at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service. A private committal service will be held at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell.

BROOKER LEAVES WIDOW LIFE USE OF $7,000 ESTATE
Daughter Will Then Inherit Property of First Mayor of Fulton City

Probate proceedings on the estate of George W. BROOKER, late of Fulton, who died Oct 5 in Oswego Hosptial, were held Monday before Surrogate George M. Penney in Surrogate's Court. Testator, first mayor of the city of Fulton, former superintendent and later agent of the American Woolen Company's mills at Fulton, had been residing for the past year with his daughter, Mrs. May B. MURDOCK, at 125 West Third Street, Oswego. His estate was valued at $7,000 personal, life use of which is given to his widow, Ella W. BROOKER, with property to pass upon her death to his daughter, Mrs. MURDOCK. The widow and daughter are executors of his will. John L. MOURNIGHAN is attorney.

COLFAX RESIDENT DIES
Mrs. P.F. Brown was Mother of Mrs. Will Bush

Mrs. P.F. BROWN, aged 76, died this morning at 3:00, at the home of her daughter Mrs. William BUSH, in Colfax Twp. She had been an invalid for the past eight weeks, suffering from dropsy and hardening of the arteries. She lived for the past nine years with her daughter and previous to that she was a resident of "upper town" Big Rapids. Her husband died eight years ago. Besides Mrs. BUSH, two other daughters survive her, one of Cedar Springs and one in Portland.

Mrs. Reva Taylor

Mrs. Reva Taylor, 57, of Route 1, Blanchard, died Sunday, Mar. 11 in Kelsey Hospital at Lakeview. She had been ill for about one month.

Mrs. Taylor was born April 22, 1904 in Rolland Township and was a lifelong resident of Isabella County and a member of the Pine River W.S.C.

Surviving are her husband, Alson; 1 son Richard of Blanchard; 3 daughters Mrs. Richard Jellen (sic) and Mrs. Lyle Walkington of Blanchard and Mrs. Richard Root of DeWitt; 2 brothers Kenneth Dush of Blanchard and Clarence Dush of Lakeview; 9 grand children; 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Wed. at 2 pm at the Crittenden Funeral Home in Remus, with interment in the Pine River Cemetery near Blanchard.

Death Claims Elderly Woman Hurt in Fall

Mrs. Esther CORNWELL, 83, of 426 Lafayette SE, who was born near Cedar Springs and lived all her life in the general vicinity, died Thursday at St. Mary's hospital. She had suffered a hip fracture October 4 in a fall.

Mrs. CORNWELL lived in Greenville for many years, up to 13 years ago, when she moved to Grand Rapids.

Surviving are the husband, Thaddeus; three daughters, Mrs. Olive VANDERPOOL and Mrs. Lulu BURNS of Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Stella HARRE of Toledo, Ohio; a son Claude, of Grand Rapids; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. CORNWELL attended Grace Episcopal Church.

Funeral Services will be held at the Vanderpool Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Donald V. CAREY officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park.

Della, daughter of Elijah and Helen MOUNT, was born near Greenville, MI26 Aug 1867. Died at the home of her daughter 18 June 1935, age 67 years, 9 months, and 23 days.

She came to this community with her parents when four years old. Was joined in marriage with Marshall OBERLIN 6 Mar 1887. To them was born one daughter.

She has lived in this neighborhood all her life and was connected with many of the social and spiritual activities in the community, was converted and joined the WM church in 1893 and lived a consistent, helpful life.

Her husband preceded her to a better land nine years ago. She leaves to mourn their loss one daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Fred WOODRUFF, who lovingly cared for her in her last years; one grandson, Donald WOODRUFF; a niece whom she took into her home when but a small child and cared for until she married, Mrs. Roy CHAMBERLIN of Big Rapids; one sister, Mrs. William OBERLIN of Belding; one brother, Elijah MOUNT; many neices, nephews, other relatives and friends. Diane R. Bartosiewicz Obituary
Diane R. McKenzie Bartosiewicz, age 66, resident of Pulaski passed away, Thursday with most of her loving family by her side. Diane was born February 26, 1959, in Fulton, the daughter of Robert and Ethel Sperbeck Leonard. She attended Fulton and Mexico schools and went on to obtain her cosmetology license. She co-owned a beauty salon in Mexico before moving to Pulaski and Sandy Pond and barbering for friends and neighbors at her home. She was happily married to Don McKenzie until his passing in December 2007. She subsequently married Jim Bartosiewicz and had many happy years with him on Sandy Pond until his passing in July 2020.

Diane loved to cook, and her peppers in oil and garlic were famous. She grew her own herbs and vegetables. Her artistry extended to her home, where she meticulously painted beautiful designs on floors, walls and furniture. Diane’s wonderful sense of humor attracted many friends, and she was always ready to laugh at whatever life threw at her.

Surviving, are her brothers and sisters, Randi Leonard of Las Vegas, Dan Leonard (Janice Mayne) of Phoenix, Sandy Shaw of Pulaski, Paula (Robert) Thomas of Pulaski, Cara (John) Daniels of Pulaski, and half-sister, Kathleen (David) Wiechelman of Nathrop, Colorado, nieces and nephews, Ashley, Christopher, Sara, Anne, Percy, Patrick, Robert, and Trista, and several great-nieces and nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind her beloved rescue kitties, Pip, Mariah and Mena.

The family would like to thank the staff at Oswego Hospital for their continued care and Upstate Medical University for their compassion and dedication to her comfort in her final hours.

A celebration of life will be held at a time to be announced. Arrangements are in care of Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski.

DIED at his home in Nelson, Wednesday, December 28, of pnuemonia,Milton J. DURFEY, aged 62.

Milton J. DURFEY was born 18 Sep 1830 in Oswego Co, NY. He was married to Sarah M. STORER 8 April 1849 and continued his residence at his native place until 8 Dec 1869, when he moved to Michigan and settled on the farm where he has since lived. He was the father of five children, only one son, Albert, surviving him. He leaves a wife, one son and eight grandchildren to mourn for him. He was highly respected by all his acquaintances and will be much missed from the neighborhood. Funeral at the Cong Church December 31, conducted by Rev. W.H. FRINT. Remains were interred in the DeCau Cemetery.

Frank BROWN was born in Calhoun Co, MI 12 Mar 1865 and died 11 Jun1909 of Typhoid Fever at the home of his sister Mrs. T. CORNWELL of Greenville. He spent his boyhood days in Nelson and in later years has been a shingle weaver in Northern Michigan.

Funeral was held at the Congregational Church of East Nelson and the remains laid beside his sister in DeCau Cemetery.

He leaves two sons in Grand Rapids, a mother, Mrs. P.F. BROWN, and three sisters, Mrs. William BUSH of Big Rapids, Mrs. T. CORNWELL of Greenville, and Mrs. C.A. DURFEY of Cedar Springs.

FULTON VETERAN DIED IN HOSPITAL
Delos DURFEY Was a Former Well Known Boatman

Fulton, Nov 19 - Delos DURFEY, aged 79, a Civil War veteran and lifelong resident of the towns of Granby and Volney, died this afternoon at 1 o'clock at the City Hospital after an illness there of more than a year.

For the last month of Mr. DURFEY's condition had been grave. Mr. DURFEY's death was due largely to his advanced age.

Mr. DURFEY was well known in this section. He had two farms in Volney and drove to town every day. He retired from farming only two years ago.

In the Civil War he fought at Gettysburg in a company of which more than three-fourths of the men perished.

For more than twenty years he was a boatman on the Oswego river and had a wide acquaintance among boatman all over the Great Lakes. He was born in Granby and lived for many years in a section of Granby that is now Gansevoort street, this city.

Mr. DURFEY is survived by one brother, Albert DURFEY, a partner in his farming enterprises; one son, Frank DUR

Jean P. "Pat" Manwarren Obituary
Jean P. “Pat” Manwarren (nee Ellis), age 97, resident of Wheatfield, NY formerly of Pulaski, NY, passed Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at her residence at Elderwood Wheatfield Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E., her son, Ward J., and two sisters, Janet and Rosemary.

She is survived by her daughters, Marjorie (David) Minotti and Joan Manwarren, her sister-in-law, Muriel Halsey, two nieces, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation or services at this time. A private memorial gathering may be held at a future date. Those who wish to honor Pat’s memory may donate to a charitable organization of their choice.

Burial in South Richland Cemetery in Pulaski.

Jedediah died in Richland township after giving testimony forRevolutionary War pension of one of his soldiers, Stephen Lindsey. Durfey had been living in Ellisburg, and may had been staying in town with a younger son (William or Carlton).

Jedediah was diagonal from a George C. Campbell who was from Canada. Campbell had married a Dunlap girl.

KENNETH OBERLIN, VETERAN, DIES

Kenneth M. OBERLIN, 48 years old, 1522 Peck St, a veteran of WWI and operator of a restaurant in Muskegon Heights, died yesterday at Hackley Hospital of a long illness.

Formerly a foreman and the Norge Division plant where he was employed 15 years, Mr. Oberlin operated the A&K Diner prior to becoming owner and manager of Obie's Quick Lunch, 159 W. Broadway.

He was a member of the Wilbur L. Boyer Post VFW in Muskegon Heights, serving as historian for two years. He served with the 126th infantry during WWI. Also active in the Masons, Mr. Oberlin was a member of Lovell Moore Lodge F and AM.

He was born July 2, 1900 at Belding, where he attended the public schools. He married the former Ethel ROADHOUSE in Belding August 27, 1920, the couple moving to Muskegon Heights in 1928.

Mr. Oberlin leaves his wife, two sons, Richard and Harold, both of Muskegon; three brothers, Ray of Belding, Berney of Lake View, and Elon of Muir; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William OBERLIN of Beldin

Last Thursday was the twentieth anniversary of the marriage of Mr. andMrs. Eugene DRURY, and the event was fittingly celebrated at their pleasant home at Lower Falls. A large number of friends and relatives were present and assisted them in making the anniversary a most enjoyable one.

Linda I. Miles Obituary
Linda I. Miles, age 75, resident of Pulaski for over 50 years, passed away Monday, at Upstate Hospital surrounded by her family. Linda was born September 22, 1950, the daughter of John and Barbara Pilger Chase. She attended West Hill High School and went on to earn her GED. Linda was married to her husband of 34-years, Thomas Miles on February 16, 1991. She was employed by Rite Aid in Pulaski for several years. Prior to that she had worked at “Pitter Pat’s” (formerly Krupke’s), and she was also a cook/host at the End Zone and Earl’s Restaurant. She was also a member of the Pulaski Order of the Eastern Star #159. Linda loved to spend time taking care of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling and was a member of several leagues over the years. She was a passionate Buffalo Bills and SU Football fan.

Linda is survived by her husband, Tom Miles of Pulaski, three sons, Stephen Timmerman of Fulton, David Timmerman of Panama City, FL and Scott (Tina) Timmerman of Pulaski, daughter, Bridgette (Brad) Dawley of Pulaski, brother John (Janice) Chase of Archibald, PA, close cousin, Barabara (Alex) Sadowski of Cicero, grandchildren, Hannah Horth and Jacob Horth, both of Syracuse, Abigail, Brandon, Savannah, and Logan Timmerman all of Pulaski, and great-grandson Jaxon Horth, and her special canine companions, Georgie and Missy, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her infant son, Kevin Timmerman and brother Charles Chase.

Marilyn J. Sanderson Obituary
Marilyn Janice Sanderson was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her life ended surrounded by her loving children on August, 9, 2024, ending her long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was 84 when she passed.

Marilyn was born in Richland, NY on April 13, 1940, daughter of Rex and Ethel Maitland. Marilyn attended APW High School and married Frank Earl Sanderson on August 10, 1958. Marilyn and Frank resided in Adams, Pulaski, and Pillar Point until Frank passed in 2016. They also had a winter residence at Continental Country Club in Wildwood, Florida, where they enjoyed golfing together for many years.

Marilyn was a very talented seamstress; creating beautiful quilts, Vera Bradley knockoff handbags, and even made her eldest granddaughter’s wedding gown. Marilyn was also an avid golfer and won the Women’s Club Championship at the Elm’s Golf Club in 1976 and the Women’s Club Championship at the Watertown Golf Club in 1994.

Marilyn is survived by her children Bruce W. (Nicolas Ricketts) Sanderson of Rochester, Janice M. (Jack) Gaffney of Kirkville, Linda S. (Rick) McNitt of Pulaski; Grandchildren Alicia (Matt) Richardson, Andrew (Katie) McNitt, Adam (Katey Niles) McNitt, Kevin (Marissa) Clark, Allison (Anthony) Allen, Shawn (Kati) Gaffney, Alyssa (Steve) Loder; and her Great-Grandchildren Eli, Grace & Claire Richardson, Charlie McNitt, Owen & Blake McNitt, Jackson Gaffney, and Caleb Clark.

The family would like to thank all of Marilyn’s caregivers at Park Rose Estates in Liverpool, Brookdale Memory Care in Fayetteville, and the Cottages in Cicero. You are all amazing people in how you cared for our mother and others facing the same issues she faced. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

Calling hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23rd with the funeral immediately following at the Foster Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski, including burial at the Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell.

Mary A. Scott Obituary
Mary A. Scott, resident of Pulaski, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday at her home. Mary was born April 9, 1952, in Oswego, the daughter of James and Mary Sampson Scott. She graduated from APW School in 1970. Mary was employed by the APW School district for 40 years as a teacher’s aide.

Surviving, Surviving, are her daughter Amanda (Brian) Martin of Pulaski and her granddaughter Hannah Martin (Tate Lallier) of Orwell. She was predeceased by her brother William Scott and sister, Nancy Aliff.

Mrs. Velma L. Durfey, aged 70 of Cedar Springs, passed away Saturdaymorning. Surviving are her husband Wilber; three stepchildren, Donald of Big Rapids, Roy of Dallas, TX and Mildred of Ohio; five sisters, Mrs. Lelah Cuddington of Sand Lake, Mrs. Iva Parker of Pierson, Mrs. Lloyd Laughlin of Cedar Springs, Mrs. Lydia Spaulding and Mrs. Zelma Reyburn, both of Grand Rapids; three brothers, Clair Kilts of Sparta, Lloyd of Grand Rapids, and Gordon of Cedar Springs. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 1:30 pm at the Pilgrim Bible Church, Cedar Springs, Rev. Robert Sickmiller officiating. Interment East Nelson Cemetery. Mrs. Durfey reposes at the Bliss funeral home where friends may call.

My grandparents came from Bohemia, which then becameCzechoslovakia. Anton Knadle, 1854-1926 and Mary Shebck, 1857-1915. Came to America and settled in South Dakota. Their daughter Tillie (Mathilda) was my grandmother. She married John Alfred Durfey son of Lowell Durfey, 1856-1920 and Charlotte Woolridge, 1859-1935. After their marriage they lived in Wisconsin and South Dakota.

Myrtle M. OBERLIN passed away at her home at 616 Hambrook St,November 7 following a short illness. She was 81 years old at the time of her death. She was born in Isabella County September 13, 1874 the daughter of Eli and Helen MOUNT and came to the city 48 years ago. Her husband, William Oberlin, passed away in June 1954.

Mrs. Oberlin was a real estate broker here for over 40 years. She was a member of Central Methodist Church and a charter member of both the American Legion Auxiliary and the Royal Neighbors.

She is survived by three sons, Ray of Baldwin, Bernie of Coral and Elon of this city; one brother, Elijah MOUNT of Remus; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services in charge of Fitzjohn Funeral home, will be held today, Thrusday, at 2:30 from Central Methodist Church. Rev. H.S. Ellis and Rev. Luther Brokaw, past of the church, will officiate and the buirial will be in River Ridge cemetery. Grandsons of Mrs. Oberlin will act as pall bearers.

NATIVE OF THIS TOWN DIES IN BROOKLINE, MASS.

Robert Joslyn, 59

Mr. Hugh F. Whitney of this village, received a telegram Sunday informing him of the sudden death from a heart attack of Robert H. Joslyn, 59, of Brookline, Mass. Mr. Joslyn was a native of this town, a son of Wilmot and Mary Joslyn. Following the death of his parents who were killed in a railroad crossing accident he and his sister, Mary, made their home with Mr. and Mrs. Royal Whitney.

Mr. Joslyn was a graduate of Pulaski Academy with the class of 1897, and studied in the office of the late Dr. James L. More. He served during the Spanish American war in the medical department of the United States navy. For several years he had been with a drug firm in Brookline, Mass.

He is survived by his wife, one son, a daughter; a brother, William, and a sister, Mrs. William Orton of Richland; also another sister, Mary, of Rockford, Ill.

Dies in Hospital
Vernon, April 20 - Nelson Nichols, 36, of this village, diedd yesterday in a Utica hospital, after an illness of a year's duration. He bad undergone two operations recently and Saturday afternoon was again taken.to the hospital for treatment;
Mr. Nichols was born in Litchfield, May 7, 1889, a son of Daniel and Julia Mathews Nichols. He lived in that section practically all his life. In 1913, he married Ruth Cones. The couple moved here four years ago, where Mr. Nichols had been employed since by J. Bartholomew & Son. He was a member of the Vernon Fire Department.
Besides his wife he leaves his parents, two sons, Irving and Olin; four brothers, Milton of Mohawk, 'Wallace of Schuyler, Elmer and Kenneth of Chadwicks; and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Groff and Mrs. Mason Kilbourne of Chadwicks.
The funeral will be held Wednesday noon at 12 from the home in Mill Street, followed by it short service at Kinnie Cemetery, Litchfield, the Rev. A.F. Wood, pastor o

Newspaper Article - Wednesday, April 16, 1902 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Davenport - Peck - Last Thursday morning, in the presence of a large number of friends, Lester S. Davenport, of Schenectady, and Miss Helen L. Peck, of this village, were united in marriage at the Baptist church by Rev. J. Foster Wilcox. The bride was accompanied by Miss Bessie Davis and the groom's best man was J. F. Fredendall, of Schenectady. The bride wore a brown traveling dress, with hat to match, while Miss Davis wore a black silk skirt and blue silk waist with black hat. The bridal party was preceded, as they approached the altar, by Miss Lucille Clark, who was daintily attired in white, carrying a silver tray, bearing two plain gold rings, one the gift of the groom to his bride, the other the gift of the bride to the groom. The ushers were, C. L. Finster, Dr. M. J. Terry, G. W. Morton and Claude Bonney. Miss Floy Sherman played the wedding march. Mr. and Mrs. Davenport left immediately after the ceremony for their home and Schenectady. They were the recipients of many beautiful and useful gifts.

Fulton - Mrs. Ella W. BROOKER, 89, of 240 Cayuga St, died Saturday following a long illness.

Mrs. BROOKER was the widow of George W. BROOKER, former agent of the American Woolen Mills in this city. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the Young and Son funeral home. Rev. Fred MAGLEY, pastor of First Presbyterian church, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Adnah Cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Helen WALCH died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Seth TAYLOR 13 Jan 1912 aged 67 years, 7 months and 7 days. She came to Rolland Twp with her husband Elijah MOUNT 40 years ago. To them were born six children. She was an honored member of the W.M. church at Trinity, being the last charter member of said class, uniting with the class 32 years ago. She became helpless and unable to care for her household duties and unable to care for herself. She was taken with her husband, Fred WALCH, to the home of her daughter where she was tenderly cared for by her children and friends until the end came. A large concourse of friends and neighbors attended her funeral which was conducted at the Pine River Church by Rev. G.W. Whitney. Blanchard Choir did the singing.

Obituary
Jennie Helen MOUNT was born at Coldwater MI 21 Feb 1861 (sic), died in Isabella County 11 Jan 1919 after a year's lingering illness. On the 10th of November 1887 she became the wife of Seth TAYLOR, who survives her, with their two adopted sons, two sisters and a brother.

Mr. and Mrs. Taylor came to their present home 21 years ago. Soon afterward Mrs. Taylor united with the W.M. Church, remaining a faithful, loyal member until death. The Taylor home was a hospitable one. A sister was cared for there during the last months of her life and her two little sons taken into the family circle as their own. Mrs. Taylor's aged mother spent her declining days in her daughter's home. She is to be remembered as a faithful wife, a loving daughter, a kind sister, and a good neighbor.

OLD RESIDENT PASSED AWAY LAST FRIDAY

C.A. DURFEY, aged 72y, an old resident of this village, passed away at his home in this village last Friday morning after a prolonged illness. Mr. DURFEY had been confined to his bed for several weeks although his passing came as a great shock to his many friends in this vicinity.

Mr. DURFEY was a successful farmer in Nelson Twp for many years. He moved to Cedar Springs several years ago where he has since made his home. Besides the widow, he leaves three daughters: Mrs. Sidney DeGRAW of this village; Mrs. Ray HOUGH of Nelson Twp; Mrs. Clyde ANNIS of Grand Rapids; and one son, Wilbur DURFEY, also of Nelson Twp.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church in this village Monday afternoon and were conducted by Reverend ARCHER. Interment was made in East Nelson Cemetery.

Phoebe L. Wheeler Obituary
Phoebe L. Wheeler, age 93, formerly of Williamstown, passed away Wednesday at Sunset Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Boonville. Phoebe was born November 18, 1931, at home in Altmar, to Frederick and Roxie Trumble Britton. She attended school at a one-room schoolhouse, Checkered House School, until 6th grade and then attended Altmar High School. Phoebe was married to her husband, and love of her life, Charles Wheeler, on May 27, 1950. Charles and Phoebe had 70 wonderful years together and he passed away November 24, 2020. She worked for Dr. Thompson in Pulaski as a housekeeper in the 1940’s. She later worked at the APW school cafeteria for 19-years, retiring as cafeteria manager for Altmar Elementary. Phoebe attended Park United Methodist Church and was a member of the Williamstown Seniors.

Phoebe devoted her life to raising children. She and her husband were foster parents to dozens of children over the years, including Ann Granger and Emerson McMillan. She loved them all and did her best to make them feel loved. Her world revolved around her family and her husband. She was happiest when her house was full of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always said, “if your heart is big enough, then your home is big enough!” She loved her children unconditionally and her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. Just when she thought her heart couldn’t get any fuller, then her great-grandchildren arrived, and her heart grew even more. She loved them dearly. Phoebe was a phenomenal cook; her chicken and biscuits were legendary.

Phoebe is survived by her sons, Casey (Donna) Wheeler of Columbia City, OR, Albert (Patricia) Wheeler of Brunswick, ME, Stephen (Karen) Wheeler of Lacona and a daughter, Sarah (Nick) Wansink of Pulaski, grandchildren, Ryan (Summer) Wheeler, Claire (Petra Rowan Rhines) Wheeler, Emily (Zoe Latil) Wheeler, Stephen Wheeler II, Benjamin (Bethany) Wheeler, Samantha Wheeler, Colin (Nyasha) Wansink and Libbie Wansink, great-granddaughters, Áine Wheeler and Maggie Wheeler and many nieces, nephews. She is also survived by her siblings Louis (Jean) Britton of Williamstown, NY, Jack (Esther) Britton of Camden, NY, Alice (Ronald) Eldred of Altmar, NY and Peter (Dena) Britton of Southwest City, MO. Phoebe was predeceased by her husband, Charles, sisters Edith, Jane, Judy and Peggy, brothers Frank, Grover, Stuart, William, Robert.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 22nd at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours will be held from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service.

Durfey-Died suddenly while on a hunting trip in the Adirondacks, Nov. 11th, Edward Durfey, aged 71 years, of 517 South Fourth street. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen Durfey; four sons, Carlton Durfey of Poughkeepsie, Albert and Edward of Fulton, and iHarvey of E.D. 2; one daughter, Mrs. Marian Robinson of R.D. 2; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service were held from State Street Methodist church Thursday afternoon, Rev. Albert Abbott officiating; interment in Mt. Adnah.

The deceased had been a contractor for over 40 years. He was a native of this city.

He had been in the woods on a deer hunting trip for the past week with a party consisting of his son, Albert, and grandson, Stephen Durfey, Stanley Willy, Leo St. Onge, Frederick Dingnmn, William Prashaw and David iDunn. Stricken Sunday morning, he was rushed to a doctor's office at Stillwater, but passed away shortly afterwards

ROLLIN LANE

Rollin G. Lane, 85, died at his home in Pulaski, March 1, 1931. He had been an invalid for five years.

He was born June 21, 1846, son of Gilbert and Adaline Lane. In 1878 he went to Centerville to make hie home on a farm where he lived until he retired about 18 years ago, make his home with his sister.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dexter M. Lilly, Pulaski; one son, Gilbert, Syracuse; and one sister, Miss Carrie Lane, with whom he made his home.

Funeral services were held at the home at 2 o'clock Wednesday, with Rev. John W. Warren, pastor of the Methodist Chureh, officiating. Interment was in Pulaski cemetery

SANDY CREEK, NY—Marjorie W. Bailey, born on October 17, 1924, in Sandy Creek, NY, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, in Oswego, New York. She was 100 years old.

One of ten siblings, she was predeceased by all of her nine brothers and sisters.

Marjorie is survived by her son Thomas Bailey, granddaughter Sarah Bailey, grandson Peter Bailey Jr. and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service to Honor and Celebrate Marjorie's life will be held at a time to be announced. Arrangements are in care of Harter Funeral Home, Inc. Mexico, NY.

Seth E. TAYLOR, who died Tuesday, November 3, was born nearFremont, IN 17 Jan 1868. On November 10, 1887 he married Jennie Helen MOUNT, who passed away on January 1919. He later married Edna GRAHAM.

Survivors, besides his wife Edna, are: two sons, Alson of Blanchard and Carl of Big Rapids; one stepson, Lawrence GRAHAM of Rosebush; four grandchildren; three brothers, Lorenzo and Irvin of Bronson and Dexter of Belding; and many other relatives and friends.

Seth TAYLOR had been a resident of Isabella County since 1890. He was a member of Trinity Church for many years.
