Born October 25, 1919, in Hamilton, he was a son of Llewellyn and Hazel Duell Lamb, and was a graduate of Hamilton High School. On January 1, 1940, Darwin was united in marriage to the former Marian Sikes in Morrisville, NY. She predeceased him on March 25, 1999. Mr. Lamb had worked for Gordon Bowers Construction in Cazenovia for 10 years until his retirement. He had previously worked at Colgate University and L.L. Lamb & Sons Farms, both of Hamilton. Mr. Lamb was a member of the Coudersport Alliance and Missionary Church. He was a former member of the Eaton Community Bible Church where he was a deacon and had held several offices. Surviving are a daughter, Wilma Sterndale of Coudersport; two sons, Stuart Lamb of Cobleskill, NY, and Wayne Lamb of East Amherst, NY; four brothers, Thomas, Louis, Keith, and Richard Lamb, all of Hamilton; two sisters, Beatrice Little of Hamilton and Phyllis Hanson of Hamburg, NY; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. "Tom" Lamb, 90, of Hamilton, NY, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Siegenthaler Center in New Hartford, NY. He was born at home on August 17, 1924, a son of Llewellyn L. and Hazel M. Duell Lamb. He graduated from Hamilton Central School in 1942. He married Leona May Riedl on September 23, 1944. They shared their love for over 70 years. In 1944, he joined L.L. Lamb & Sons which grew over 2500 acres of cash crops in Madison County, NY. He enjoyed planting and harvesting crops with his brothers and father until around 1960 when the Corporation dissolved. He also was in partnership with his brothers, Darwin and Louis and ran Hamilton Ford Implement Company in the late 50s and 60s. He worked for Cossitt Concrete Company for a short time as foreman of a new Dox plank factory. After that he went to work for a New York Farm Equipment Dealers Assn. as its Executive Secretary for 25 years. He increased the membership across New York State dramatically while he was in office. He also was a founder of the annual Farm Show in Syracuse, NY. This show allows Farm and Lawn Equipment Dealers to showcase their products to thousands of visitors every year. After he retired from NYFEDA, he went to work for his son's company, Lamb's Construction, Inc., in Sherrill, NY, as a salesman/estimator. There, he made a great many friends and was instrumental in making people's dreams of new houses, new additions, etc., come true. He worked there until he was 80 years old! He was involved in many community activities. He worked with Madison County Conservation Club. He was on the Hamilton Central School Board, served as President of the Board and was very involved with the building of the existing school back in 1958-59. He belonged to the Hamilton Booster Club and was involved in supporting many athletic teams. He carried the measuring "chain" for many football games during the times that his sons played on Hamilton High School's football field. A field that he and his brothers and father helped build. He greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He enjoyed trips to Canada to go fishing with "Ace" Risley and Dick "Mac" McNealy. He also was an avid bridge player in Hamilton. He enjoyed and looked forward to playing with his bridge friends. He is survived by his wife, "Lee"; his children, Blake and Margaret Lamb of Sherrill, NY; Sandra and John Habeeb of Watertown, NY; Mark and Myrt Lamb of Summerville, SC; three of his six brothers, Louis Lamb, Richard and Pat Lamb, all of Hamilton, NY; Keith and Norma Lamb of Eaton, NY; a sister, Beatrice Little of Pine Woods, NY; two sisters-in-law, Ann Lamb of Clifton Park, NY; Agnes Lamb of Charlottesville, VA; his grandchildren, Blake Lamb Jr., Devra Carr, Juli Lamb, Amy Hilliker, Frank McMullen, Mark McMullen, Kerri Hoffman, David Lamb, Kevin Lamb, Mark Lamb, Jessica Morgan and Michael Lamb; 24 grandchildren, four great-great-grandboys; 25 nieces and nephews. Perry, 77, for nearly 60 years engaged in business and farming at Fernwood, in the southern section of the town of Richland, died Monday night on the Perry farm near Fernwood. About two months ago he suffered a severe shock of paralysis, which caused his death. He was born April 9, 1849, on a farm near Fernwood and 19 years later moved on a place near by where he had lived since. Mr. Perry was a member of the town board of Richland, serving 30 years as justice of the peace up to the time of his death. He also was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Fernwood and of South Richland grange. His wife died in 1925. Arrangements are with Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek. Mrs. Lance was born Feb. 24, 1967, in Oswego, daughter of Weldon O. Sr. and Beulah Trumble Yerdon. He took part in the famous bridge burnings, which severely limited the Confederates ability to transport supplies through the eastern Tennessee area. He was the Captain of the Turkeytown Company, and was a marked man by the local Confederate forces. He eluded capture, escaping to Federal lines where he enlisted in the Union Army. He served in Company B, 4th Tennessee Infantry, during 1862-1864, and later was a Captain in Comapny H, 13th Tennessee Cavalry. He is survived by his sons, William Jr. (Kathy) of Pulaski and Scot (Laurie) of Mexico; six grandchildren; and eight great-grand-children. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Edith, and his son, Greg. Bill was born in Parish, NY, on May 9, 1921, to Merton and Daisy (Morse) Larrabee. After serving under General Patton in the 88th Ordnance in World War II; he returned to Central New York and opened his Ford dealership, Pulaski Sales & Service. Bill earned the Silver Beaver, the Boy Scouts of America's highest honor, and served on the Pulaski School Board, Oswego County BOCES Board and New York State School Board Association for nearly a quarter of a century. His favorite spot in the world was his camp in Osceola, where he loved to hunt with his wife, split wood and cook eggs and bacon over the fire. His life's philosophy was "Be kind and have fun." Bill will always be remembered by family and friends for his compassion, wisdom and for having a rolling baritone laugh that made everyone smile. Funeral services will be private. He is survived by his wife Patricia, a daughter Kathy, a son Larry Jr., four grandaughters, five great-grandaughters, a great-grandson. He was also survived by three sisters: Linda Daily, Sandy Pettit and Laurie Fox; two brothers: Robbie Coffin and Mark Coffin. He was predeceased by his mother, Norma Coffin and a brother, Lyle Whaley. He was a life member and past commander of Robert Edwards American Legion Post #358. He retired from Schoeller Paper Company in Pulaski and also worked at Salmon River Fish Hatchery. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Austin, 56, of 5155 Route 11, formerly of Glenfield, died Saturday afternoon at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, Syracuse. He had been ill with cancer. Mr. Austin was a service technician for more than 38 years for the former Agway Energy Products, now Suburban Propane, in Pulaski. Born March 12, 1951, in Lowville, son of Leonard E. and Justine J. Clemons Austin, he graduated from South Lewis Central School, Turin, in 1969. He married Diane Kirch on July 1, 1972, at the Beaver Falls United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating. The marriage ended in divorce. He was a member of the Glenfield United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending summers at his camp at Sand Pond in Lewis County. Surviving are a son and his wife, James L. and Debbie, Pulaski; two daughters and a son-in-law, Nicole Hamm, Sandy Creek, and Tonya L. and Scott Shampine, Pulaski; his mother, Justine "Jolly" Austin, Glenfield; eight brothers and six sisters-in-law, Dale and Tamara, Freeville, Randy and Spring and Leon and Rae, all of Lowville, Alan, and his companion, Michelle Moore, and Neil and Tracy, all of Boonville, Mark and Dawn, Greig, Tim, and his companion, Debbie Bruce, Turin, and Brian and Jean, Elgin, S.C.; nine grandchildren, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. His father died in December 1972. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Iseneker Funeral Home, Lowville, with the Rev. Mr. Chapman, retired United Methodist minister, officiating. Larry was born June 26, 1958, in Oswego, the son of James and Rose Ray Ackerman. He attended APW Schools. Larry was a hard worker. He was briefly employed by Allied Chemical and spent most of his working years logging and also working construction and operating heavy machinery for VIP Construction. In his later years, Larry worked for Don Grant Printing. He enjoyed being outdoors and he loved to go 4-wheeling. Surviving, are his siblings, Rosemary Reale of Syracuse, Joan (Ron) Johnson of Brewerton, James (Denise) Ackerman of Altmar, Judy Ann (Donald) Grant of Mannsville, ten nieces and nephews, David, Christine, Deb, Dan, Erin, Kimmie, Amy, Michelle, Matt and Mike, and 24 great-nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his nephew, Christopher and by his faithful canine companion. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, from the Weston and Woodard funeral home with the Rev. Selden H. Ward, pastor of the Vorea Community church, officiating. Burial will be in the Wesleyan cemetery near Lacona. A lifelong resident of Boylston, Hattie C. Chase was born in that town on April 8, 1892, the daughter of Parker and Etta Stevens Cummings. She attended Boylston schools and on October 28, 1908 was married to Lewis Chase, son of Simon and Lydia A. Paddock Chase of Boylston. Both were descendants of pioneer Boylston families and spent their married life on a farm in that town where Mr. Chase has been a successful farmer, specializing at one time in purebred Brown Swiss cattle. For the past two years, Mrs. Chase had been active in the auxiliary of Cable Trail Post, Veterans of Foreign wars. Several years ago Mrs. Chase was severely injured in an automobile accident, remaining in the hospital for eleven months. However, she made a gallant fight for recovery and was eventually able to walk again. On January 9, 1944 he was married to Miss Keitha Keene, daughter of E. Cornwall and Myrtie Tifft Keene of Lacona, the ceremony being performed by the late Rev. Herbert Harrison at the Sandy Creek Methodist parsonage. Since February 1946 he had owned and operated the Western Auto Associates store in Pulaski. - Active in Community - Mr. Pennock was Justice of the Peace of the town of Richland, and office he had held for six years. A member of Park United Methodist Church, he had been a church treasurer for 17 years. She was married in 1867 to Deming P. Smart who died about ten years later. To them were born two children, Frank A. Smart and Mrs. Esther Beehm, born of whom reside in Daysville. After a few years of widowhood she was married to Jacob V. Wright who survives her. For the past few years she has been in gradually failing health but was only confined to her bed for a week, being fully conscious to the last. Mrs. Wright was essentially a home woman and was seldom far from her circle of friends and relatives. A devoted wife, a kind and loving mother, has gone to that "better land" to receive her reward, for like the woman of old she has done what she could. The funeral was held from her late home on Friday last, Rev. R. F. Thomas speaking words of comfort from the text, "She is not dead, but sleepeth." Newspaper Obituary -Thursday, August 1, 1968 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - A Life-Long Resident Dies After Long Illness - Mrs. Laura E. Babcock of 7666 North Street died Friday, July 26 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Watertown, where she had been a patient for the past six weeks. She was 83 years old at the time of her death. Mrs. Babcock was born December 1, 1884 Port Ontario, the daughter of Andrew and Jane Vorce Wilson. She attended the Port Ontario district school, and was married to Robert C. Babcock in the first and only marriage at the Bethel Church there. Mr. Babcock died in 1945. She was a member of the Pulaski Baptist Church and its societies and spent her entire life in the Pulaski area, assisting her son in the florist business for the past 25 years. She is survived by her son, Elmer Babcock. Funeral services were held Monday, July 29 at the North Street home, with the Rev. Edward Van der Hey, of First Baptist Church, Syracuse officiating. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Taylor-Vida Funeral Home, Pulaski. Spring burial will be in Richland Cemetery.
