13527 Martin Miller Barnard - January 18, 1834 - July 26, 1908. Son of Adonijah and Phebe Bailey Barnard. Husband of Laura A. Hicks.
Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, (date unavailable) 1908 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Fernwood - Died at his late home Martin Miller Barnard in his 73d year, after a long and painful illness, Sunday, July 26, at 5:30 p.m. Mr. Barnard was born in Lee, Oneida county, in 1865. He, with his parents, came here and bought the farm where his son, A. E. Barnard, now resided. He was an active man and well known to many readers of the Democrat. His suffering and death was caused by a much dreaded disease, cancer, for which he was treated by eminent physicians, but to no purpose and although his sufferings were at times too great to describe, he bore them all patiently, with no complaint. Often when suffering greatly he would be heard to breath an ardent prayer, and often during his most intense suffering, reason for a period became dethroned, but never did he forget for a moment the faces which were so dear to him wanting them near him all the time. He was a Christian man and for many years a member of the M. E. church; also a charter member of the South Richland Grange, only leaving it when his health and ambition for this world was gone. What respect and love the community had for him was shown, when on July 29th, they laid him to rest in the Willis cemetery, and although the farm work of our people was in some cases delayed by robust rains, there were only a very few but left there work to pay their last respect to him who had so long been friend and neighbor. He was a devoted husband, a most kind and loving father. A wife and four children will mourn and miss him as such while the days are passing by. Three sons and one daughter, A. E. Barnard, G_ H. Barnard and M. Ida Barnard, of Fernwood, and E. M. Barnard of _Ville. His family, except E. M. Barnard, were present when the summons came. "Come up higher" and quietly as a [last line unreadable].
