| 13929 | Mexico, N.Y. - David John Martin, 71, husband of Stephanie "Susie" J. (Sabrey) Martin, passed away during the early morning hours of October 31, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 2, 1948, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Harry and Jacqueline (Brinkman) Martin. He was a graduate of Limestone High School class of 1967. He served active duty in the United States Navy from 1967 - 1973, with some of his duty on the USS Holder. He then moved to NY and gained employment with NY Telephone where he was employed from 1974 - 1994. David was married to Stephanie on June 25, 1984, at the First United Methodist Church in Mexico, NY. David was an active member of the church over the past 35 years. He was also a member of the NRA and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the guys at the hunting camp. Mr. Martin was predeceased by his father, Harry, in 1994; mother, Jacqueline, in 2017; sister, Mari-beth, in 1984; and his brother, Peter in 1997. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie; his son, Shane D. Martin of Pulaski, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Shanna N. and Michael Stassi of Brewerton, NY; daughter, Jennifer Schlag of Oswego, NY; his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann M. and Daniel Robinson of Norway, ME, and Patricia J. and Gregory Voisine of Avon Park, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Timothy and Dorothy Martin of Fort Fairfield, and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Peter (Judith) Martin of Middletown, CT; and six grandsons, Johnathan Nash Martin, Tanner Stassi, Nathan Caraballo, Kaine Caraballo, Alexander Schlag, and Donovan Campbell. | 13932 | Michael Albert Potish - December 2, 1921 - March 12, 1943. Military Service: Enlisted November 16, 1942 in the United States Army at Syracuse, New York. Son of Rudolph John and Pauline Charnetsky Potish. Newspaper Obituary - Saturday, March 13, 1943 Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Pulaski - A wire was received Saturday morning by the family of Michael Potish, son of Mrs. Pauline and the late Rudolph Potish, giving notification of his death following previous announcement Friday of his being seriously ill in Colorado. Inducted into the Army November 23, 1942, Potish was assigned to the Air Corps in Atlantic City, where he recently underwent an operation. He telephoned the family Thursday of last week saying he had been transferred to Colorado. Death was attributed to septicemia, infection of the blood stream. The youth was born in Binghamton December 2, 1921, and attended Pulaski Academy. Before entering service he was employed by the New York Central Railroad. The Potish home is on Scenic Highway, Port Ontario, and the family is well-known as vegetable growers throughout Central New York because of summer tourist trade. Survivors include besides his mother, two brothers, Mickey and Victor, the latter inducted into the Army Thursday and scheduled to report next Thursday for active duty; four sisters, Amelia, Sophie, Anne and Margaret. The body will be brought to Pulaski with a military escort and will be given military honors at the grave by the Robert Edwards Post, American Legion. He was born Sept 14, 1948, in Watertown, a son of Ellerd and the late Maude Reid Kastler. He graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1966 and from Mohawk Valley Community College. He married Sandra Jones on Aug. 5, 1978, at First Baptist Church, Sandy Creek, with Rev. Virgil Hager officiating. He served in the Army from 1968 to 1970. He was a member of the Mad River Club, Sandy Creek Baptist Church and the Boylston planning committee. Central Square man killed in early morning motorcycle crash in Oswego County Updated Jul 22, 2019; Posted Jul 22, 2019 WEST MONROE, N.Y. -- A Central Square man was killed early Monday morning in a motorcycle crash in Oswego County, according to the New York State Police. State police were called to county Route 37 and Woodworth Road in the town of West Monroe at 5:40 a.m. for the crash. A passing motorist observed a demolished motorcycle next to a damaged utility pole with wires partially down along the road, state police said in a news release. The operator of the motorcycle, later identified as Michael J. Geer, was located by troopers and emergency medical services about 30 yards from the motorcycle in the nearby woods, police said. Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, August 22, 1968 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Michael Aldrich Dies in Flaming Car Wreckage - Michael John Aldrich, 20, of Orwell, a 1967 graduate of Sandy Creek Central school, was pronounced dead at the scene after the car he was driving on Route 104 in the Town of New Haven early Sunday morning struck a tree and burst into flames. Attempts by sheriff's deputies and the New Haven Volunteer fireman to free him from the flaming car were futile. Deputy Sheriff Ora Lawton said that as the car approached the crest of a hill it went into a skid, the driver losing control. It then struck a culvert and continued on for 40 feet when the rear of the car struck a tree, rupturing the gas tank, which burst into flames. - 1967 SCCS Grad - The youth was born November 17, 1947 in Syracuse, son of Sylvester and Alma Salisbury Aldrich. He was a 1967 graduate of Sandy Creek Central school and was employed at the General Electric Company in Syracuse until two months ago, when he began work at the Lee Schoeller plant in Pulaski.
