He attended Daysville School in the Town of Richland, and he served in the National Guard. Arnold married Rosina Hotelling on March 10, 1956. He was employed by NYS Department of Transportation in Mexico for 32 years, retiring in 1984. He also drove school bus for the APW School District for 13 years, and owned and operated a farm for many years. Surviving are his wife, Rosina; three daughters, Avis (James) Peterson of Central Square, Cynthia (Keon) Wild of Mexico, Dorothy (Richard) Beck of Mexico; two sons, Jeffrey (Kris) Manwaring of Hamilton and Lyle (Lisa) Manwaring of Boise, ID; two brothers, Robert and Roland Manwaring, both of Pulaski, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Suki. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski, with burial in Maplelawn Cemetery in Dugway. Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral. Rosetta was a very warm, loving and thoughtful person and her family was her life. Rosetta is survived by her sister, Sarah Miller of Palm Springs, CA; her brother, Jeff Wise of San Leandro; and her three children, son Gary Horn and wife Ellen of Florida, son Glen Horn and wife Stephanie of La Grange, CA, and daughter Janice Hewitt and husband Bill of Redding, CA. Grandchildren include: Brandi Shipman, Jason Hewitt, Shannon Valdez, David Horn, Justine, Elan and Elsha Horn, and six great grandchildren that brought her a lot of joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Mildred Wise; and her sister, Jean. The family would like to thank Dr. Garcia and his wife, Chris and Hospice, especially Julie Thomas for their compassionate care they gave to mom during her final days. No services will be held. | 15006 | Newspaper Obituary - December 09, 1931 Pulaski Democrat - Youth Succumbs To Pneumonia - The news of the death of Obie Look, the 21 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Orrin B. Look, of High street, cast a shadow over the entire village among the younger people, last Wednesday night. Obie had been in good health and about his regular activities up to Saturday night, November 28th. He was taken ill Sunday and grew steadily worse until the end came at his home shortly before 6 o'clock Wednesday night. Obie, as his friends all called him, was a youth of much promise. He was of a studious temperament; quiet, unassuming, well mannered and a generally likable chap whom all, old and young, who knew him, admired. He came to Pulaski with his parents when he was a young child, some 18 years ago, from a nearby farm where he was born November 8, 1910. He grew up here and from the beginning of his association with other children he was a favorite among them. He attended the local academy until he finished his junior year in high school, and attained scholastic honors. Determined to get an education he transferred to Watertown for his senior year and graduated from the high school in that city with the class of 1928. In the fall of that year he entered Temple university of Philidelphia, Pa., transferring to Syracuse university at the beginning of his second year. The second semester of that year he returned to Temple. He was pursuing the study of law. Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Clayton W. of Syracuse, and Clarence P. of Earlville; and a sister, Miss Alma Look of this village. Another sister, Dorothy, died about a year ago. The funeral was held at the Methodist church, of which he was a member, last Saturday, Rev. John. W. Warren, pastor, officiating. Mr. Emmons had been in poor health for some time, having lung trouble but recently he had a severe cold which, with the lung trouble, caused his death. All that loving hands and tender hearts could do was done until death’s messenger called for him and peacefully and gently bore him away. He was born at Lorraine, Jefferson County, in 1832. In 1862 he enlisted and left his home and friends for his country. Twenty-five years ago he, with his family moved from Jeff. Co. to this place. A number of years ago he bought the Ely farm, where he has since resided. For the last few years, owing to his poor health, his son, Roy, has managed the farm. Mr. Emmons was a Christian man, a loving husband and father, and a kind neighbor. Butler Post, at Pulaski, of which the members attended in a body at the funeral. He leaves to mourn a devoted wife, two sons, one daughter, and a granddaughter, Bonnie of Hartford, Conn., Roy and Mrs. David Phillips, of this place, Hazel, a granddaughter, who has made her home with them for many years, he also leaves two brothers, Ward, of Adams, and Samuel of the Soldier’s Home in Bath, all of whom were here to attend the funeral which was largely attended at the house on Sunday at 1 p.m. Rev. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Marie and John Spagnuolo, Plains Township; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hugh and Dorothy, Jenkins Township; Michael and Roberta, Carverton; Raymond and Joyce, Linglestown; and John and Marilyn, with whom she resided. Ellen is also survived by 13 nieces and 13 great-nieces and nephews. Ellen attended Maffett Street School, Plains Township, and was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church, Plains Township. Considered the family trivia expert, Ellen enjoyed a love of music, dancing, reading, TV and movies. One of her proudest moments was receiving a personal letter from her favorite actor, Ernest Borgnine. Ellen traveled extensively with her mother, who was the most cherished person in her life. She especially enjoyed their vacations to Hawaii, Disney World, Niagara Falls and their frequent bus excursions to New York City, Philadelphia and Atlantic City. One of the Lord's special persons, she was a lifelong source of unselfish love and inspiration to family and friends, giving so much more than she received. Ellen offered the blessing and toast at every family gathering. Although she will be sorely missed, we are comforted that Ellen now enjoys a new, abundant, eternal life with the Lord. He was born May 22, 1896 in Sandy Creek, the son of the late Herbert and Sarah Brown Weaver. He was educated in local schools. Mr. Weaver was a life resident of Sandy Creek. He retired from Blount Lumber Co. Lacona, and previously was employed with the town of Sandy Creek Highway Department. His first wife, the former Eliza Stewart, died in 1970 and his second wife, the former Mary Waite, died in 1978. Mr. Weaver was a retired member of the Sandy Creek Volunteer Fire Department. He was an Army veteran of World War I. Surviving are four sons, Mac of Orlando, Fl, Robert of Mexico, Clarence of Pulaski and James of Lacona, 10 daughters, Betty Kimball, Judith Burnett and Marge Bailey, all of Sandy Creek, Connie Rogala of Gary, Pa, Evelyn Morton of Mexico, Helen Adams of Liverpool, Mary Jane Tanner of Fulton, Penny Waite of New Jersey and Nacy Shue and Louis Knoop, both of Florida; 52 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. | 15024 | Newspaper Obituary - December 15, 1921 Sandy Creek News - John Hubbs - The eastern part of the township of Sandy Creek as well as the village of Lacona lost one of its oldest citizens in the death of John Hubbs on Monday Dec 12. He had been in failing health for sometime and had been confined to his home. The first ancestor of John Hubbs to settle in this country came from Holland with his parents when a small child and settled with them on Long Island, When a young man he married and moved to Jonesville, Saratoga County, where he purchased several hundred acres of land and became one of the pioneer settlers of Saratoga County. He died in 1804, leaving his land to his son, John, who died there in 1850 leaving twelve children, among them Cyrus Hubbs, who was born January 15, 1804. He moved to the town of Sandy Creek and settled on the Ridge Road. He had a large family of children, of whom John Hubbs who died December 12th and was buried on the 14h, and Rev. C.M. Budlong, rector of the Emmanuel Church were the last survivors except a brother, George L. Hubbs of Pulaski. John Hubbs was born June 1832, and would therefore have been ninety years of age had he lived until June next. He married Phila Harding, a member of the Harding family of this town. She died about five years ago. They never had any children. After Mrs. Hubbs death, Mr. Hubbs lived in his old home at Lacona with H.H. Chapman, a relative of his wife, and whome he had brought up as a boy. About five weeks ago he was stricken with paralysis from which he did not rally. He was born in the adjoining town of Richland, Aug. 2, 1835, the son of Jacob and Margaret Harter Bettinger of Madison county. His grandparents were Philip and Catherine Bettinger who were natives of the Mohawk Valley and at an early day came to Sandy Creek where they settled on the farm which has since been in the family until a few years ago when it was sold to the late W. H. H. Scott and became the western portion of that farm. It embraced 70 acres and was in the family since its original settlement. The grandfather, Philip Bettinger was in the war of 1812 and was stationed at Sackets Harbor. The family was always identified with the Methodist Episcopal Church. E. L. Hoffman of Syracuse officiated at the funeral, which was held on Monday at 1 p.m., burial in Woodlawn cemetery. Mr. Bettinger was a great lover of the horse and always drove a fine pair in his active years. At the time of his death, at a ripe age of 86 years, he was one of the oldest life long citizens of the town. He enjoyed good health until his last illness and was about town most every pleasant day. In February 1862 he was married to Miss Lydia Ann Colon, who died six months after the daughter, Nora, was born. Five years ago he married Miss Evelyn Sprague and to them were born two sons, Lawrence and Alfred, who with the mother and daughter, Mrs. Charles McCune survive together with twelve grandchildren, Maurice McCune, Mason McCune, Merle McCune, and Chas. McCune Jr., sons of Mr. and Mrs. Charles McCune. Smith, died December 4, 1960 in a Rest Home at Brighton, Mass., after a three month illness. She is survived by two cousins, Mrs. Glenn B. Allen of Pulaski and Mrs. Philip J. Coble of Sandy Creek. Mrs. Smith was born September 4, 1870, at Sandy Creek on the Ridge Road south of Lacona. Her parents were Warren E. Carpenter and Abigail Stewart Carpenter. She attended schools in Sandy Creek and taught in rural schools in this vicinity for a time. Then after taking a business course, she went to Boston Mass., where she was employed as a bookkeeper in the office of one of the S. S. Pierce stores in that city. About 1903 she was married to William E. Smith of Boston. Mr. Smith was a buyer in the butter, eggs and cheese department of the S. S. Pierce store a position which he held until his death in December 1933. Following their marriage, they made their home in Brighton, Mass. Mrs. Smith lived there until September 1960, when a slight cerebral caused her to be hospitalized. In October she was improved sufficiently to be moved to the Rest Home in Brighton. On November 30, she suffered a second cerebral from which she did not recover. Her funeral was held at The Short and Williamson Funeral Home in Allston, Mass,, with the Rev. Wayne Stoops of Needham Height officiating. The Rev. Mr. Stoops and his wife lived in Mrs.Smith's home fourteen years ago while he was attending college in Boston. John was deeply devoted to his family, family always came first. Taking long trips with them was a great enjoyment to him. He also loved his animals very much. He had many inventions and holds patents on paper machinery ball valves. Mr. Martin invented not for the sake of inventing, but often out of necessity for things. Carving small objects out of wood was another way he created. Mr. Martin had a knack for horticulture; he had the ability to splice fruit trees together, allowing the sickly ones to thrive. He also enjoyed sketching cartoon characters. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his brothers, Edward and Joseph Martin. Ron was born in Menominee Michigan on July 16th, 1944. Ron was proud of his father Vincent's immigrant heritage from Czechoslovakia, while his mother Catherine was born and raised in Michigan. Ron was the third of six siblings, with four brothers and one little sister. His childhood was filled with hard work on the farm, altar boy duties at the local Catholic church, and roughhousing with his siblings and cousins in the open fields. Ron graduated from Menominee High School and entered the United States Air Force, where he soon found himself stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base. After four years of honorable service, Ron chose to make Idaho his home. He began a long career at Boise Cascade, where he remained until his retirement. His retirement years were filled with many activities and travels, including several pilgrimages to Europe to visit holy sites important in Catholic history. However, it was his marriage to Kathy McIntire on September 24, 2005 in Boise that provided the strongest love and fulfillment. Ron was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Chicago White Sox and idolized Mickey Mantle as a boy. He enjoyed reading, tinkering around the house, traveling to visit family in Minnesota and Michigan, and making new friends wherever he went. Ron was an active member of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Boise for decades. Ron was preceded in death by his father Vincent Jasenovsky, his mother Catherine (Bayerl) Jasenovsky, and his younger brother Vincent Jasenovsky Jr. He is survived by his wife Kathy McIntire Jasenosky of Nampa, Idaho; daughter Angela Shumway (Blair) of Meridian, Idaho; son Luke Jasenosky (Sarika) of Edgewater, NJ; stepdaughter Heather Ramsay (Brady); stepson John Allen (Lynnae); granddaughter Emily Kiester; grandsons Jack and Henry Ramsay; brothers James Jasenovsky, Robert Jasenosky, and Joseph Jasenovsky, and sister Marlene Crofoot. There has been a small epidemic of the disease in that section seven well defined cases having been reported to the health authorities of the town, but Mrs. Cronk is the first death, all of the others are getting along nicely, it is reported. From the first almost, Mrs. Cronk had been very ill. She was first stricken about a week ago, and death came at about 9 o'clock last night. Mrs. Cronk was born in Oswego town 48 years ago and had lived here all her life. She was a member of the Oswego Center M. E. Church and of the Missionary Society and took a deep interest in the church affairs. Besides her husband, Arthur Cronk, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. William McLaughlin, two sisters, Mrs. Annabel Swann, Minetto, Mrs. Blanch Philliips and four brothers, Joseph, of Pulaski, William, Cleveland, and Jesse McLaughlin, of Oswego Center.
