Pond, suffered a paralytic stroke September 25th and died Friday morning, October 18. She was born in this town July 8, 1850, and on November 11, 1874, was united in marriage to Adelbert D. Pond. Early in life she became a Christian and united with the Methodist church of Mexico and always lived a very devoted Christian life. At the time of her death she was a member of the Methodist church of Fernwood and was also a member of Pulaski W. R. C. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Pond, four of whom are still living, Winfield D. Pond, Mrs. Florence Halsey, Fred F. Pond and Ernest M. Pond. One daughter, Grace, died seventeen years ago. The death of Mrs. Pond is felt keenly by a large circle of friends. Interment was made in Pulaski cemetery. Mr. Bentley was a native of Pulaski but had lived in Syracuse for a great many years living at 112 Beley Avenue. He had been a patient at the hospital less than two days following a sudden illness. He retired from the Ravenna Arsenal as a heavy equipment operator. Redway was born 3/5/1835 in Adams, Jefferson county, and received the upbringing and education common to the youth of his class in that early period of American life. he was but twenty years of age when he engaged in the mercantile business in Scranton, PA and one year later he married Miss Mary Outterson, In Pulaski, Oswego county, NY. She was born in Dublin Ireland, and came to america as a child of three years. her father was Andrew Outterson, a Scot of Edinburgh birth and training, born there in 1808, who came to Amercia in 1833, bringing his young family with him. He was a paper maker by trade having learned the business in Scotland and was a large manufacturer, owning mills in a number of states at one time in his life. He was a man of considerable prominence in the business, and was known as the inventor of the system of using silk threads in United States currency. For many years Mr. Outterson made the paper on which the currency of the nation was printed, at his mills in Glen Mills, Pa. Auren G. Redway came to Boise on July 10, 1863 when the city was only 3 days old holding a commission as sutler at Boise. He continued in that business for about 5 years afterwards he was a bookkeeper and cashier at the First National Bank until he retired in 1896. --The history of Idaho, the Gem of the Mountains, 1920. From Ancestry.com in the spring of 1860, the family sailed from New York city, crossed the Isthmus of Panama, and sailed up the Pacific coast to San Francisco. In 1862, they moved to Vancouver, in what was then Washington Territory, in which place George Francis, the second child was born. In 1864, the family made its way to Boise, Idaho, and there the third child Elizabeth Charlotte, was born. The father was then employed as a government sutler in Boise, having removed thence from Vancouver with the first troops under major Jeugenbeil of the United States Army. In later years Mr. Redway was connected with Crawford-Slocum & Company, a mercantile firm, and was afterwards associated with the First National Bank of Idaho, serving that institution many years as cashier. he died in February 1900, esteemed and respected of all who knew him. He was a lifelong member of the Episcopal church and served in that body for forty years as Senior Warden. | 1617 | Austin Pratt Hale Austin Pratt Hale, son of Stephen and Sally (Maynard) Hale, was born in Colerain, Franklin County, Mass., April 27, 1812. He studied medicine with Dr. Ash, of Frankfort, N. Y., was associated with Dr. Samuel Douglass and practiced at Sandy Creek, N. Y., and in 1840 located at Adams Center. He married Hannah K., daughter of Dea. Amos and Hannah (Hinman-Griswold) Kent, of Redfield, Oswego County, December 5, 1843, by whom he had one son, Austin K. Dr. Hale practiced his profession at Adams Center until 1863, when he removed to Adams village. He possessed a genial disposition, and died December 2, 1878, respected by all who knew him. His widow resides on Park street, in Adams village. Austin K. Hale was born in 1850. He studied medicine with his father and graduated from the university at Ann Arbor, Mich., in 1874. He married Eudora, daughter of Andrew and Angeline (Morrell) De Forest, in 1874, and they have one daughter, Mary L., born in 1875. Born in the town of Boylston, daughter of Myron and Olive James Ridgeway, she attended school in Boylston. She married Maurice L. Branche on Jan. 5, 1939, in Brownville and the couple lived in Theresa, Beaver Falls and LaFargeville before moving to Sandy Creek in 1951. Mr. Branche was a barber for 45 years in Beaver Falls, Belleville and Sandy Creek, and the couple operated a grocery store when they lived in LaFargeville. She was a former regent of Rhadamant Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, a former member of Sandy Creek Grange 127, Sandy Creek United Methodist Church and Sandy Creek-Orwell Area Senior Citizens and former president of the Wednesday Club. Surviving besides her husband, of Central Square, are a daughter, Kay M. Hewitt, Liverpool; two sons, Calvin, Hudson, Fla., and Dan, West Monroe, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A son, Robert, died in 1996. The funeral was April 4 at Watson Funeral Home, Central Square. Burial will be in Boylston Cemetery. Richardson's father and mother are to be removed to-day from the old cemetery, near Mrs. Julia Cole's farm, to the Richland cemetery. Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, February 15, 1883 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Died - In Richland, February 7, 1883, Azel W. Richardson, of dropsy, aged 82 years. The deceased was born in Bristol, Addison County, Vermont, December 12, 1800, and married there at the age of nineteen. In 1825, he moved his family to the town of Richland. Having sent them by the way of Albany and Rome, on the canal, he pursued his way on foot through the wilderness. On arriving here, he settled on a place which is about three-fourths of a mile east of Richland Station, which he held in his position until his death. As he was one of the early pioneers, he had a hard struggle to support his family, while he was one of the most active in cutting the dense pine forests that surrounded his home. In 1858 he lost his wife, and shortly after went to Castile, Wayne County, and there married again. Losing this wife, also, he came back to Richland and lived with his son, Heman, up to the time of his death. He was a good man and fully ripe for heaven. He was admitted a freeman, June 2, 1641, and lived for some time at Roxbury and Cambridge, before settling in Concord In 1654/5 he received his second share of division land. His will, written by his own hand, was dated the 19th of April the same year. In it he named his three eldest children , John, Timothy and Hannah, who had received their portions of his estate, and "my five youngest children," whose names he does not list. David was well known for being the owner and operator of Balcom's Sunoco for seven years. He retired from the Town of Richland Highway Department in 2000. Surviving are wife, Donna D.; three sons, Kevin and Betty Balcom of Pulaski, Kirk Balcom of Atlanta, GA and Kip and Terry Balcom of Pulaski; two daughters, Kathy and Rodney Horning of Lufkin, TX and Kelly and Gregg Henderson of Apex, NC; two brothers, John and Earl Balcom; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. David was predeceased by his stepmother, Constance Rogers Balcom and his bothers, Alton, Francis and Leonard. Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, at the Sandy Creek Methodist Church, with a private burial at the convenience of the family. A son Jack, died in November 1982 as the result of a hunting accident. Born Nov. 23, 1912 in Brookfield, daughter of John and Reta Mattison Abrams, she was graduated from Eastwood High School, Syracuse, and St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed on the staff of the St. Joseph's Hospital and later on the staff of the Oswego County Tuberculosis Sanitarium in Orwell. She married Ward F. Nash, Feb. 10, 1936 in St. James Episcopal Church, Pulaski. With her husband, she owned and operated the Pulaski Wine and Liquor Store for 55 years. Mr. Nash died Feb. 7, 1975. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Nash operated the store with her son, Joseph.
