She was born January 12, 1894, in Fernwood, daughter of William and Ida Chase Nicholson. She was educated in Pulaski Academy and was a graduate of its training class. She was married May 4, 1912 at the Mexico Methodist parsonage and lived all of her life in the Pulaski area. Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Miss Evelyn M. Davis, a teacher in Grant Junior High School, Syracuse, and also a member of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl (Florence) Hager of Pulaski and Mrs. N. P. (Esther) LeBeau of Brewerton; two brothers, Harold and Harry Nicholson of Pulaski, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster funeral home here, with the Rev. W. Russell Clark, pastor of Park Methodist church, officiating. Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton. Mrs. Archer was a homemaker and a member of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Fulton. Born Aug. 14, 1909, in Hastings, she was a daughter of Melvin and Blanche Sharrer Stevenson. She married Claude R. Archer on July 16, 1938. The couple resided at Sandy Creek for all of their married life. Mr. Archer died July 17, 1983. Mrs. Archer moved to Fulton in 1985. Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Morley, Oswego, and Diane Clark, Lacona; a son, Leon, Fulton; a sister, Pearl Koenig, Texas, 12 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. A son, Warren, died before her. The funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday at Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. | 1754 | BERTON C. STOWELL Berton C. Stowell was born March 6, 1867 in the town of Orwell, N.Y., the son of Oren and Martha Chase Stowell, and passed away in the hospital at Watertown May 5, 1930. Almost all of his life was spent in Boylston, his parents moving there when he was a boy. For many years he has been one of the most successful farmers of the town, his well-kept, modern buildings and fertile acres reflecting the care and thought of their owner. He was united in marriage with Miss Ettie Hunt of Boylston, November 7, 1887 and to this union six children were born: Sylvia, who died in August, 1906, Ward, Celia, wife of Clarence Curtis, Leon H., Hugh S. and Lula Mae, who married Kent L. Peters and who died April 13, 1928. Mrs. Ettie Stowell died July 29, 1901. October 31, 1906, Mr. Stowell was united in marriage with Mrs. Nettie McDougal Snyder, daughter of William McDougal of Boylston. Their married life was spent on the farm known as the McDougal farm. Mr. Stowell was a man unusually devoted to his home and family, a kind and loving husband and father. He was a man of many warm friends; a citizen of sterling integrity and one whose place in the community will not soon be filled. He was a member of Sandy Creek Grange for many years and for years an attendant of the Wesleyan church. He is survived by his widow, three sons, one daughter and twelve grandchildren. Funeral services were held from his late home Wednesday afternon, May 7, conducted by Rev. E.D. Carpenter and burial was made in the Wesleyan cemetery. Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, February 18, 1941 Oswego Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Bert S. Mickel, former well known carpenter of Oswego and more recently a resident of Pulaski, died Monday afternoon at his home in Maple avenue, Pulaski, after a short illness. He was 77 years old. He was born near Daysville January 8, 1864, on a farm which is now a portion of the Selkirk Shores State Park. He came to Oswego as a young man and for many years was employed by the Wright & Boyle Sash and Blind company, and when this business was discontinued, he worked as a carpenter for A. Paine & Sons. His home in Oswego was at 67 West Third street. He retired about ten years ago and since that time had made his home in Pulaski. Mr. Mickel was a member of Pulaski Methodist church. He was also a member of Frontier City Lodge 422, F. & A. M., joining in 1888, and a charter member of Whango Grotto. He was a member of the Carpenter's Union here. He was presented with a 50-year Masonic service medal by Frontier City lodge about a year ago. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sadie F. Mickel, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the family home, Pulaski, conducted by the Rev. W. A. Gardner, Pulaski Methodist pastor. He graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1951 and Syracuse University in 1970. Beryle married Irene Janacek on November 29, 1952. He was employed by Sandy Creek School District as a business administrator for 26 years, retiring in 1995. He had also been previously employed by Carrier Corp. for eight years, and he also did tax preparation for 50 years. Beryle attended Pine Meadow's Wesleyan Church and he was a former County Legislator and town supervisor for the town of Orwell. Surviving are his wife, Irene; three sons, Stephen (Pam) Greenfield of Sioux Falls, SD, Wayne (Debra) Greenfield of Pulaski, and Bruce (Tina) Greenfield of Raytown, MO; and one daughter, Cheryl Potts of Orwell; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Beryle was predeceased by one daughter, Dawn Greenfield who passed away in 2000. Falvey, 73, of 7383 Salina St., died Saturday afternoon at the Hill Haven Nursing Home, Syracuse, following a lengthy illness. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Redfield Community Church. Burial will be in Redfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 7385 Park St. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Redfield Community Church. Surviving are a son, Charles, Saco, Maine; two daughters, Beverly McEachern, Herkimer, and Mrs. Patricia Sagnella, Mattydale, and eight grandchildren. Litts died on the 17th day of March, 1896 of a short but severe illness in the 65th year of her age. Betty married Gerald "Jerry" Griffith on April 26, 1946 and he passed away October 31, 2008. She was employed by the Pulaski Central Schools in the cafeteria for many years. She also provided childcare for many years. Betty was a former member of the Robert Edwards American Legion Auxiliary and a former NOCA volunteer. She was a member of the Pulaski Park United Methodist Church, and she also bowled in several leagues for many years. Surviving are one son, Marty (Marleen) Griffith of Pulaski, grandchildren, Jennifer Edick, Julie Peterson, Shaun Griffith, and Jessica Griffith all of Pulaski, and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, Terry M. Griffith who passed away May 4, 1993. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, caning chairs and playing cards and bowled for many years at the Adams Bowling Club. She was a member of Ellisburg Fire Department Auxiliary and for several years was a Girl Scout troop leader. Born Jan. 2, 1925, in the town of Ellisburg, daughter of Frank and Mina McGrath Reed, she attended Mannsville-Manor Central School, Mannsville. She married Alfred Towles on Feb. 17, 1944, in New York City, while Mr. Towles was serving in the Navy. After his discharge in 1945, the couple returned to the Ellisburg area, where Mr. Towles worked on various dairy farms. In 1954, Mr. and Mrs. Towles purchased a farm from H.E. Machold on Route 289 in the town of Ellisburg. They sold the farm to their son, Alfred J. "Bud" Jr., in 1974. Mr. Towles died Nov. 30, 1998. Surviving besides her son, of Sandy Creek, are a daughter, Cynthia Ives, Adams; six sisters, Arlene Cobb, Henderson, Jean Bigelow, Mexico, Phyllis Reed, Houston, Texas, June Lavezzo, Pulaski, Jane Hetko, Woodville, and Joyce Claflin, Belleville; a brother, Frank Reed Jr., Adams; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A sister, Shirley Crandall, and five brothers, Bernard, Maurice, Willard, Richard and Donald Reed, died before her. A graveside service in Woodside Cemetery, Belleville, will be at the family's convenience. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville. She had been ill with cancer. Mrs. Allen was previously employed by Rite Aid and Krupke's Restaurant. Born March 10, 1950, in Oswego, daughter of Allen F. and Alice L. Fravor North, she graduated from Pulaski Academy High School in 1968. She married Thomas E. Allen on December 10, 1978. Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Belinda L. Johnston and Bridgette A. Williams, both of Sandy Creek; two stepdaughters, Tammi Pluff and Tracy Allen, both of Syracuse; her mother and stepfather, Alice and Hugh Hilton, Orwell; two brothers, Robert L. North, Pulaski, and Allen F. North, Rosamond, California, and seven grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home with the Rev. Elizabeth Mowry officiating_ Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
