17595 Nora met Myron at a prayer meeting when she was 13. she went home and told her family "I'm going to Marry him" The pair met frequently, and their first kiss sent each running back to their homes on the Hogsback Rd. in Orwell. Truly their marriage was a romantic match! The Mattesons moved after their marriage to the vicinity of Cassville and Paris Station in Oneida County. The family farm was productive, but during the depression their lives were hard. No matter what, Nora always is seen in old photos with a bright smile that almost comes out to reach you. Winnifred died the day after her tenth birthday, having been ill quite some time. Many family members have copies of the haunting photo of her taken on her birthday sitting up in the iron bed clutching her doll the day before she died. In 1935 Myron sold the farm and moved to Cassville with the family. While in Cassville Myron drove truck for a business. Nora lived 20 years after Myron died, her last words were of him. Ballou, Elenora Belle (I72266)
