18981 Regena Clemons Simonson-(January 28, 1925- February 5, 2014) Regena was born in Pulaski the daughter of Redfield natives Hermon & Susie (Warren) Clemons. She graduated from Pulaski Schools in 1943, and married Daniel Simonson in 1945. Dan and Regena lived in Wisconsin for many years, returning in the early 1970s and taking over the family homestead known as the Huntington House on Salina St. in Pulaski. Dan and Regena were ground floor members of Half-Shire, and each served in various capacities in the organization. Dan was an early President in the mid 1970s.
Regena was best known as a piano teacher, and like her mother before her inspired countless Pulaski area youth to learn the instrument. family that includes daughter Sue-Ann, son John, and grandson Chad Simonson.

Born in Watertown, she graduated from Mannsville High School and Rochester Business Institute. Regina T. Gibbs, 79, of 3230 Richland Road, died Thursday at her home.

Mrs. Gibbs was employed by the village of Pulaski as a court clerk until retiring in 1994. She also had been employed by Bagley & Sewall and New York Air Brake Co., both in Watertown, and Pulaski Academy Elementary School.

She was a member of Pulaski Congregational Church.

Born Oct. 2, 1923, in Watertown, daughter of George O. and Cecelia Baker Twiss, she graduated in 1940 from Mannsville High School and later from the Watertown branch of Rochester Business Institute.

She married Herbert "Bing" Gibbs on Feb. 4, 1947. Mr. Gibbs died Aug. 24, 1992.

Surviving are a daughter, Annette Pratt, Pulaski; five sons, George C., West Monroe, Gordon M., Snellville, Ga., Clark O. and Andrew S., both of Pulaski, and Mitchell L., Lacona; two sisters, Wanda Twiss, Watertown, and Orda Hayes, Camden; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Pulaski Congregational Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Calling Hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Foster-Hax Funeral Home.

Remi O. Brodeur, 77, of 1146 County Route 48, died Wednesday in Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.

Mr. Brodeur was a machinist at Carrier Corp., Syracuse, for 26 years, retiring in 1983.

Born Oct. 10, 1923, in Cornwall, Ontario, son of Octava and Rose Amyot Brodeur, he was educated in Cornwall and served four years in the Canadian army.

He married Alice C. Mere on Nov. 22, 1947, at Sacred Heart Church, Massena, with the Rev. Michael Jarecki officiating. They lived in Cornwall until 1959 and then moved to Richland.

He was a member of the Cornwall Knights of Columbus, a communicant of St. John's Catholic Church, Pulaski, and a volunteer for the Salmon River Hockey Association, Pulaski.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters and their husbands, Charlene and Paul Crosby, Richland, and Bonnie and Warren Unger, Jamestown, Pa.; three sons and and their wives, John and Sue, Germantown, Md., Richard and Lynn, Pulaski, and Roger and Cindy, Glens Falls; two sisters, Rena Harper, Denver, Colo., and Aline Brodeur, Cornwall; two brothers, Edgar, Pulaski, and Romeo, Smiths Falls, Ontario, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A brother died before him.

A memorial Mass will be said at noon Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church with the Rev. John F. Hogan officiating. Burial will be private.

There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are with Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek.

Remi O. Brodeur, 77, of 1146 county Route 48,Richland,died Wednesday at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.

Born in Cornwall, Ontario, he lived in Richland 40 years. He retired in 1983 after 26 years as a machinist at Carrier Corp., Syracuse. He was a communicant of St. John's Church, Pulaski, a member of Knights of Columbus of Canada, and a volunteer with the Salmon River Hockey Association. He was a Canadian army veteran.

Survivors: His wife of 53 years, the former Alice Mere; two daughters, Charlene Crosby of Richland and Bonnie Unger of Jonestown, Pa.; three sons, John of Germantown, Md., Richard of Pulaski and Roger of Glens Falls; two sisters, Rena Harper of Denver, Colo., and Aline Brodeur of Cornwall, Ontario; two brothers, Edgar of Pulaski and Romeo of Smith Falls, Ontario; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

18991 Rena Lillian Brodeur Mere Harper, age 87, of Slidell, Louisiana passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Slidell Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Harper was a resident of Slidell, Louisiana, and was a Homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Steven John Mere; four daughters, Barbara Ann Linda McFarland, Deborah Mere Jones, Cynthia Aline Radosevich, and Nancy Ann Harper Krueger; two brothers, Romeo Brodeur, and Edgar Brodeur; one sister Aline Brodeur; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Octave Brodeur and Rose Amyott Brodeur; husbands, John Lawrence Mere, and Carlton Brumley Harper; three brothers, Remi Brodeur, Raoul Brodeur, Maurice Brodeur.

The couple lived in East Mannsville several years, then moved to Wellesley Island, and Oxbow. They came to Pulaski 30 years ago. Mr. Gardner died in July 1961. In 1963 she was married to Lloyd Grau of Rodman. After marriage the couple lived in Florida. They returned to Rodman and then moved to Ovoca.

Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, September 23, 1997 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Rena Riley Cobb, Retired Teacher - Rena Riley Cobb, 94, formerly of Richland, died Sunday at Genesis HealthCare, Watertown. Mrs. Cobb lived most of her life in Richland. She taught at Orwell District 6 and Richland Elementary School for 39 years, retiring in 1967. She was a member of Park United Methodist Church, Pulaski, Oswego County Retired Teachers Association and New York State Retired Teachers Association. Born July 4, 1903, in Fairfield, Virginia, daughter of Charles J. and Jessie L. Tolley Riley, she graduated from Pulaski High School in 1925 and Oswego Normal School in 1929. She received a bachelor's degree in 1951 from Oswego State Teachers College. She married William F. Cobb on August 18, 1928, in Richland. He died October 2, 1964. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 11 am. Wednesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Elizabeth Mowry officiating. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery. A calling hour will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

They had at least four children: Warner W. , (Dec 15, 1892, Mexico-April 1964), Beulah (Dec 1894), Howard Lee (April 26, 1898, Mexico-December 1980, Mexico) and Clark Lee (September 16, 1907-Oct 27, 2000) Warner Norton married Mary, and lived on Brow St. in Liverpool, NY. He had children Richard (1920), Harry (1922) and William (1929). Howard Lee Norton worked at the Milk Plant in Mexico prior to World War I Clark Lee Norton was working in Syracuse in 1930 at the typewriter plant, and living on South Ave.

Family history taken from record at Petersburg, also given by Miss Hall. John Thurber married 1st wife Ann, 2nd wife Mary Thresher, married June 6, 1745. Son of John Thurber was Benjamin Thurber, mother Mary Thurber. Benjamin Thurber born June 12, 1749 probably near Rehobath, Mass, married Esther Allen of Barrington in 1771, January 5th. Children: Joseph born December 21, 1771 married Abigail Bailey 1793; John born April 9, 1773; William born February 3, 1775; Esther born October 20, 1777 married Ethel Stewart; Benjamin Jr. born 1783 married Mary; Hannah born 1792 married Foster; Rhoda born 1780 married Joel Weaver; Martin born 1790; Clarissa born 1796 married Briggs. John Thurber family lived near Rehobath, Mass. Benjamin Thurber enlisted in the Revolutionary Army from Rehobath, Mass. Joel Thurber and Briggs family went north around Great Bend. Enos Briggs, a cousin of Draper Stewart use to visit him (Draper Stewart). The first children may have been born in Rehobath, Mass. This is mixed with a cousin's record, may not be exact, copied from Massachusetts Soldiers and sailors of the Revolutionary War Volume 5 page 708 - Benjamin Thurber of Rehobath, Putman Co., in Captain Nathaniel Carpenter's company, served 16 days, company marched from Rehobath to Bristol, Rhode Island on the alarm of December 8, 1778. Also the same company and regiment service from July 20, 1777, one month five days at Rhode Island. Including travel to camp at Bristol and from Providence home to Rehobath, also in Captain Joseph Will company, Colonel John Hathaway regiment. Entered service March 14, 1779 discharged April 12, 1779, service 30 days at Howland's Ferry. Also Captain Nathaniel Ides company, Colonel Carpenter's regiment. Enlisted August _, 1779, discharged September 12, 1779 service one month. Travel allowed from camp at Providence, Rhode Island for four weeks in a regiment under Captain Samuel Fisher also Captain Joseph Wilmarth company. Colonel Carpenters regiment marched July 28, 1780, discharged July 31, 1780 service five days on an alarm at Rhode Island. Company detached for six days service and marched from Rehobath to __ and there served under General __. Joel Weaver and wife are buried near Petersburg, on the Thurber place.
