Armstrong, 71 of Orwell, died Saturday, February 7 at the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where he had been a patient for one week. Born September 5, 1898 at Richland, he was the son of Frank and Genevieve Utley Armstrong, and was educated in Ricard and Orwell schools. He was married to Ruth Finster at Orwell on July 16, 1918. They spent the entire 52 years of their married life at their Orwell residence. Mr. Armstrong was for some time Town of Orwell highway superintendent, and later was with the Oswego County highway department, retiring in 1964 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Orwell United Methodist Church and a former member of the Orwell Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Ruth F. Armstrong; a son, Arnold E. Armstrong, of Altmar; a daughter, Mrs. Jesse (Barbara) Stowell of Lacona; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd Armstrong of Flint Michigan; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie King of Pacoima, California, and Mrs. Earl (Marjorie) Johnson of Pulaski; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 10 at the Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. Ivan Greenfield, pastor of Orwell Union Church officiating. Spring burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell.

He had been suffering for some time with heart trouble and a complication of complaints. The funeral was held, Monday, Rev. J. Foster Wilcox officiating. Burial was made at Riverside cemetery, about two miles from this village.

Robert F. "Bert" Harvey, 68, of 6372 Route 11, died Monday evening at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, where he had been a patient since Dec. 19.

Mr. Harvey worked on the family farm and was also a silo builder employed by Blount Lumber Co., Lacona. He then joined Carpenters Union Local 12, Syracuse, and worked in the construction industry for several years, retiring in 1992.

Born Dec. 27, 1930, at Tupper Lake, son of George and Elizabeth Sovey Harvey, he moved with his family to Sandy Creek in 1938 and attended Sandy Creek schools. He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954.

He married Phyllis Marie Hunt on Nov. 7, 1951. The couple lived in Pierrepont Manor for 28 years before returning to Sandy Creek.

Mr. Harvey enjoyed woodworking and raised chickens, ducks, rabbits and beef cattle. He was a member of Cable Trail Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8534, Lacona, and a past member of the Sandy Creek and Mannsville volunteer fire departments.

Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Norman (Bellanne) Draper, Lorraine, Mrs. Bruce (Babette) Hall, Watertown, and Mrs. Donald (Jane) Patterson, Sandy Creek; three sons, Frederick "Bob," Orwell, Bernard, Lacona, and Benny, Adams Center; four brothers, Peter and Mark, both of Sandy Creek, and Clark and Howard, both of Florida; three sisters, Shirley Lasell, Pierrepont Manor, Grace Lasell, Sandy Creek, and Lu Coughlin, Florida; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Harry and George, and a stepbrother, Charles Leete, died before him.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Summerville Funeral Home with the Rev. John M. Hunt of Notre Dame Catholic Church, Ogdensburg, officiating. The body will be cremated. Burial will be in Adams Center Rural Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.

LaPoint, 83, of 110 Patrick Drive, died Wednesday at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse. Col. LaPoint retired from the Army at the rank of lieutenant colonel in 1960 after 20 years of service. He had served in the Caribbean theater and the European theater, where he saw duty in the Rhineland, Central European and Ardennes-Alsace campaigns during World War II. In 1960, he received the Army Commendation Medal for Distinguished Service. Since 1959, he had owned the Chedmardo Campground, town of Richland, and was former president of the Campground Owners of New York State. Born May 9, 1917, in Manlius, son of Edward and Louise Battle LaPoint, he was a 1935 graduate of Manlius High School. He married Florence I. Partrick on March 30, 1943. Mrs. LaPoint died June 9, 1986. He was a member of Robert Edwards American Legion Post 358, Pulaski Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7289, Masonic Lodge 415, Media Temple Shrine, Watertown, and the Richland Zoning Board of Appeals. He was the former Civil Defense director for the town of Richland. Survivi,lig are a daughter, Mary Lou LaPoint, Tarpon Springs, Florida; two sons, Charles D. and Donald J., both of Pulaski; a sister, Elizabeth Hallett, Detroit, Michigan; a brother, Francis E., Manlius, and three grandchildren. A son, Edward R., died in 1973. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home with the Rev. Dorothy Emblidge officiating. Burial will be in Daysville Cemetery. 19209 Robert F. Miesner, 51, of Syracuse passed away Tuesday, November 12 at his home. He was a life resident of Syracuse and graduate of Westhill High School. He was recently employed as a plumber for Lockheed Martin. He enjoyed golf, bowling and boating.

Surviving are his daughter, Francesca; his father, Roscoe "Red" Miesner; his sisters, Linda (Dusty) Jackson, Teresa Block; a brother, Dennis (Lorrie) Miesner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday in St. Michael-St. Peter Church. Interment Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Butler-Badman Funeral Home, Inc., 4504 W. Seneca Tpk.

19210 Robert F. Vrooman, better known as “Bob”, born in Brownville, NY on October 29, 1927 to Emory and Clara VanOrnum Vrooman, passed on November 25, 2015 at age 88. His wife of 66 years, married on April 5, 1949, Arlene R. (Fravor) Vrooman, born in Pulaski, NY on April 5, 1926 to George and Lena Frye Fravor, passed on December 1, 2015 at age 89. They are survived by three daughters, seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Mr. Vrooman served as Petty Officer Class 3 in the US Navy; active duty from 1952-1954 and US Navy Reservist from 1954-1956. Between August 1959 and August 1989, they owned and operated Vrooman’s Tire and Road Service, Inc. in Adams, NY (a Goodyear Tire dealership), where his green service truck was very well known throughout the North Country, central and southwestern regions of the state. They were active member of the American Legion in Adams, NY and participated in many community events, donating both time and resources. After their retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Vrooman relocated to Zephyrhills, FL where they were active members of the Elks Lodge and Mr. Vrooman was an officer. They organized events for local veterans, blood donation drives, and distribution of food donations to shelters and various charity centers. Mr. and Mrs. Vrooman also actively supported the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, donating both time and resources. Mr. Vrooman received special recognition for having personally donated 9 gallons of blood and he also served many years as Poll Deputy during all elections held in Zephyrhills, FL. A memorial service for Robert and Arlene will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, Dec 13, 2015 at Hodges Family Funeral Home 36327 SR 54, Zephyrhills, FL 33541, they will be laid to rest side by side at Chapel Hill Gardens. 19211 Robert F. Will, 77, of Hillsboro Road, Camden, died Wednesday, October 16, 2002 at University Hospital, Syracuse. He was born September 21, 1925, the son of Robert J. and Pearl Dawley Will. On August 6, 1949, he married Verda House. He was a lifelong resident of Hillsboro in the Town of Camden. He was lime/fertilizer truck driver for GLF/Agway in Camden for 40 years. Bob operated Will's Cackleberry Castle Pumpkin Farm with his wife and family for 42 years. Starting out as a small roadside stand, selling eggs "cackleberrys" and vegetables, it grew into an annual regional attraction every October, with lighted Jack 'o lanterns, a talking pumpkin, hayrides, farm animals, and lots of Halloween characters. Bob had also worked as a volunteer at the University Hospital in Syracuse for the past 12 years. He is survived by his wife, Verda, and four children and their families, Alan Will, Las Vegas, Nev., and his daughters, Lenore and Misty, Camden; Carol and Bill Sullivan and their daughters, Molly and Kelly, Sterling, Mass.; John and Barbara Will, and their sons, David and Daniel, Pleasanton, Calif.; Anne and Al Finkelstein and their son, Foster and daughter, Hannah, Rutland, Mass. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the ICU and ROC of University Hospital and many others for their compassionate help. Bob has donated his body to University Hospital Research Center. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Prince-Boyd & Hyatt Home for Funerals, Inc., 210 W. Court St., Rome, Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. He was married on January 3, 1917 to Bessie McClary of Richland, who died in 1942. He married M. Irene Spicer on November 10, 1943. He lived in Long Island and in Pulaski for some time. He was employed as an insurance claims adjustor. A member of Pulaski Methodist church, he was also a member of Pulaski Lodge 415, F. & A.M. and of Ismailia Temple of Buffalo. He served as a councilman on the Sandy Creek Town Board and was a member of Sandy Creek Grange and for several years was tax collector for District No. 12. He was also a member of the sandy Pond Sportsman's Association. Surviving are his wife, Irene, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Wyman; three daughters, Mrs. Jeanette Metchik of Sandy Pond, Mrs. Charles Hayman of Long Island, and Miss Bonnie Wyman of Pulaski; one son, Robert Wyman, Jr., Pulaski, and several grandchildren. A Masonic service will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Weston and Woodard funeral home with the funeral service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist church in Pulaski with the Rev. 19214 Robert Freeborn Boots was the sixteenth child of Thomas and Hannah (Tree) Boots. Of all the children sired by Thomas, Robert was the only one born in the United States, thus his middle name. He married Mary Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Lyman and Eveline (Christman) Smith. From this union nine children were born; they were Anguretta, Homer Ward, Emogene, Frederick, George Albert, Lucy Mae, Mary, Sarah Viola and Ellen. During the Civil War, he enlisted in the 110th New York Infantry, Co. D on 7 August 1862 and was transferred to the 147th New York Infantry on 22 August 1862.

He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1965 and from Simmons School of Mortuary Science in 1972. Robert served in the United States Army from 1969 until 1972. He was employed by the US Postal Office in Pulaski for 20 years. He had previously been employed by Foster-Hax Funeral Home, as a licensed funeral director, for several years and also the VA Medical Center. He was a member of the Robert Edwards American Legion Post #357 in Pulaski. Surviving are one brother, Karl (Karen) Hax of Pulaski; one sister, Cynthia (Terry) Allen of Pulaski; one son, Allan Malina of Lynchburg, VA; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Karl W. Hax Sr. and Madolyn Hurley Hax. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, at the Foster- Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street in Pulaski with burial at in Pulaski Cemetery. Robert G. Karle Sr., 78, of 8 Niagara St., died Saturday at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse.

Mr. Karle was a New York state trooper from 1948 to 1961 and was employed by Royal Insurance in Syracuse from 1961 to 1983. He had lived in Pulaski since 1956.

Born May 2, 1927, in Syracuse, son of Robert and Etta Samsel Karle, he graduated from North High School, Syracuse, in 1944 and served in the Navy during World War II.

He married Barbara Howard on Oct. 15, 1955.

He was a former commander and member of Pulaski American Legion Post 358 and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7289, Masonic Lodge and Shrine.

Surviving besides his wife are five daughters and three sons-in-law, Patricia and Larry Stewart, Marie and William Koehler, Marilyn and Jim Quackenbush, Donna Strauss and Kathleen Booth, all of Pulaski; a son and his wife, Robert Jr. and Denise, Pulaski; a sister, Barbara A. Karle, Syracuse; three brothers, George, Liverpool, Richard, Phoenix, and Frederick, Syracuse, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Susan C. Karle, died in 1963.

The funeral will be at noon Wednesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home.

Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Pulaski American Legion Post 358.

He was born in Richland.

Mr. Whaley was employed with Bendix Aviation, retiring in 1979.

His first wife, the former Ada L. Carpenter, died in 1962. His second wife, the former Mary Gilbert, died in 1986.

Surviving are six daughters, Helen Fountain and Mary E. Whaley, both of Utica, Gail Coons of Schenectady, Barbara Baker of Syracuse, Jean Newberry of Ballston Spa and Cathryn Groulx of Herkimer; a son, Donald of Pennsylvania; a sister, Anna Whaley of Syracuse; a brother, Oscar of Syracuse; 23 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are 10 a.m. Wednesday in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, August 30, 1916 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Robert, aged 10, youngest son of Henry and Ida Hager, died Wednesday, August 23d of infantile paralysis, after three days illness. Burial Thursday in the family plot in Daysville Cemetery, services conducted by Rev. F. O. Dexter of Fernwood. Robert was a bright, winning little fellow, and leaves besides the grief stricken parents, three brothers, Joseph of Pulaski, Gerald of Fernwood, Pearl of Daysville, a large number of playmates and friends who will sadly miss him. While our hearts are aching with sympathy we can only point them to the Great Comforter who said "Suffer little children to come unto Me for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven."

Robert H. Hastings, 74, of 9122 E. First St., chairman of Holstein-Friesian World Inc. and former Sandy Creek village trustee, died Wednesday at his winter home in Dunedin, Fla.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sandy Creek United Methodist Church with the Rev. Janet Gibbs, pastor, officiating. The body will be cremated. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in the spring.

There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Summerville Funeral Home.

Surviving are his wife, Jean; two sons, Joel P., Sandy Creek, and Mark H., Naples, Italy; a daughter, Patricia C. Hastings, San Francisco, Calif.; a grandson, and a brother, Perry W., Pulaski.

He was born March 11, 1917, in Watertown, a son of Eugene Morenus and Carolyn Mae Haven Hastings. He graduated from Pulaski Academy in 1935 and attended the New York State College of Forestry at Syracuse from 1936 to 1938.

Mr. Hastings was a realtor for the Hastings Agency in Pulaski from 1939 to 1940. He served in the Army from 1940 to 1946, achieving the rank of master sergeant.

Mr. Hastings married Helen Prescott March 4, 1944, at the Prescott family home at Sandy Creek. Long active in civic affairs, she died Nov. 24, 1984, at the age of 65. He later married the former Jean Chamberlain in September 1987, at the Hastings home.

Mr. Hastings was employed by Holstein-Friesian World Inc., publishers of cattle magazines for breeders of registered Holstein dairy cattle, from 1946 to 1984. He joined the publication as editor of New York Holstein-Friesian News from 1946 to 1957, and was associate editor of Pennsylvania Holstein News from 1956 to 1957. He was associate editor of Holstein World from 1949 to 1959, executive editor of Holstein World from 1968 to 1976, editor of Holstein World from 1976 to 1981, and publisher of Holstein World from 1981 until his retirement in 1984.

Mr. Hastings was also director of Holstein-Friesian World Inc. from 1956 to 1976, its president from 1976 to 1980 and its chairman from 1980 until his death.

He was a Sandy Creek village trustee from 1956 to 1972, a trustee of the Ainsworth Memorial Library from 1955 to 1980 and a trustee of the North Country Library System from 1973 to 1978.

Mr. Hastings was a member of the Holstein-Friesian Association of America, New York Holstein-Friesian Association, Oswego County Holstein Club, the Council on Agriculture, Science and Technology and the Dairy Shrine. He was also a member of the Sandy Creek United Methodist Church and Cable Trail Post 8534, Veterans of Foreign Wars, having served as the post quartermaster from 1948 to 1950.

Mr. Hastings was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1970. One of the privileges associated with the title is to be an honorary guest at the Kentucky Derby. It is the same designation as that given to Colonel Sanders of the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant chain.

Carl, 83, died early Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herbert Sprague, Pulaski. He has been a well-known farmer in Fernwood and vicinity. Mr. Carl was born in Hartford, Connecticut, 1831, son of the late John and Margaret Corbett Carl. He came to Oswego county with his parents when 10 years old. The family occupied the place at Sandy Pond now known as The Elms. Mr. Carl had been in poor health several years and had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Sprague. Survivors are two sons, William Carl of Pulaski and Paul Carl of Fernwood; the daughter, Mrs. Sprague, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be at the Sprague home Sunday at 2 o'clock with interment in Willis cemetery.

Robert J. Fitzgibbons Sr., age 84, resident of Pulaski since 1970, formerly of Oswego, passed away Thursday at St. Luke's Nursing Home, Oswego. Robert was born Jan. 30, 1932, in Oswego, the son of William and Marie LaGoe Fitzgibbons. He graduated from Oswego High School in 1950 and served in the Naval Reserve from 1951 until 1958.

Robert married Mary Ann Trenca in 1952. She passed away in 1977. He married Barbara Bellows on Sept. 17, 1994. Robert was employed by Schoeller Technical Papers for 23 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Park United Methodist Church in Pulaski and a former Trustee for two terms.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara, a daughter, Ann (Barry) Hayes of Belleville, four step-daughters, Debbie Bellows and Laurie Egan, both of Pulaski, Gayle DeLong and Kristy Gage both of Fernwood, and three grandchildren, Kara, Kyle and Joseph. Robert was predeceased by a son, Robert J. Fitzgibbons Jr., who passed away July 20, 2013.

Robert J. Gaffney, 78, of 135 Haley St., retired special delivery carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, died at 3:51 p.m. Saturday at the House of the Good Samaritan, where he had been a patient since Thursday.

A funeral Mass is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday at Holy Family Church. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.

A daughter, Jane M. Gaffney, died Feb. 1, 1968, at the age of 16. Two brothers, Donald A. and Paul L. Gaffney, and two sisters, Helen L. and Rosemary Gaffney, also died previously.

He was born March 4, 1914, in Watertown, a son of William E. and Elizabeth Marie O'Connor Gaffney. He graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy.

Mr. Gaffney was a staff sergeant in the Army during World War II.

On Nov. 27, 1948, he married Jean F. Alton in the rectory of Holy Family Church with the Rev. Frederick P. Shue, then assistant pastor, officiating. Mrs. Gaffney, a retired teacher, died May 21, 1992. She was 68.

Mr. Gaffney was a special delivery carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Watertown. He retired after 40 years of service.

He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and a communicant of Holy Family Church. He was also a member of American Legion Post 61, where he formerly served as treasurer for some 20 years, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1400, the Watertown Elks Lodge and the North Side Improvement League.

Robert J. Spink, Jr., age 64, resident of Williamstown, beloved father and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly Sunday at his home. Robert was born November 17, 1955 in Oswego, NY the son of Benajean and Robert Spink, Sr. He graduated from APW High School in 1973. He was married for 40 years to Darlene Armstrong Spink on December 24, 1974 and she died February 5, 2015. He was employed by International Wire for 28 years, retiring in 2016.
Surviving are one daughter, Heather Spink of Altmar, two sons, Stephen (Rebecca) Spink of Altmar and Travis Spink of Richland, seven beloved grandchildren, Steph (Sagan) Smith, Dale Smith, Aidan Smith, Lainey Smith, Sierra Spink, Jesse Spink and Hailey Spink, three great-grandchildren Levi Smith, Brynn Smith and Rowan Smith. His pride and joy in life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His love and legacy will live on through them. Robert was also survived by three sisters Robin (Dale) Featherston of Van, Texas, Kathy (Grover) Britton of Dunnellon, FL and Gail Spink of Crescent, FL, and two brothers Douglas Spink of Oswego, NY and William McDowell of Sandy Creek NY. 19232 Robert J. “Bob” Hooge, age 95, resident Arizona for the past three years, formerly of Pulaski since 1968, passed away Monday at Yuma Regional Medical Center in Yuma, AZ. He was born August 12, 1922 in Syracuse, the son of Herman and Genevieve Braungart Hooge. He attended Syracuse Schools. Bob married Lena Snyder in March of 1946 and she passed away in 1984. He later married Sonia Keleher and she passed away in 1996. Bob was employed by the Pulaski DPW for nine years, and he also worked for Abe-Cooper in Syracuse. He was a member of the Robert Edwards American Legion Post #358 in Pulaski and the Pulaski VFW Post #7289.

Surviving are two sons, Robert (Donna) Hooge of Mexico and Daniel Hooge of Pulaski, one son in-law, one daughter, David Fisher of Arizona, one daughter in-law, Shirley Hooge of Pulaski, 15 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, Charles Hooge Sr. who passed away in 2006 and one daughter, Sue Fisher who passed away January 2018.

Born October 9, 1945, son of Arthur K & Norma R Ellis of Lacona, NY. Robert graduated Sandy Creek School and attended SUNY Oswego & Alfred during the 60’s. He married Kathleen A. Plante of Pulaski in 1967 who died of cancer in 1996. He was Honorably Discharged from the US Army as Sgt in 1969. He had been employed at Blount Lumber Co. until 1980 and finished his Cabinet Sales career with Yorktown Cabinet as Eastern Sales Manager through the mid 90’s. Robert was a lifelong member of the VFW and spent 15 years with the Lacona Fire Dept. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church, Sandy Creek Community Park and a member of the Tamarack Hunting Club since 1975. He was an avid woodworker, golfer, fisherman & hunter. Bob enjoyed the outdoors.

He is survived by two sons; Lawrence (Amanda) and David (Kitryn); brother Kirk (Cathy) Ellis; 5 grandchildren and companion Grace Caufield.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph the Worker Church, Liverpool, and a longtime member of the Liverpool Rod and Gun Club.

Mr. Bailey was a member of Liverpool-Syracuse Masonic Lodge 501.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, the former Helen Kingsley; two daughters, Mary Jill Loewy of Winter Haven, Fla., and Janet M. Mr. Bowers was born in Richland and resided in the Pulaski area all his life. He was a dairy farmer for several years and also worked for the Dairymen’s League and Queen’s Farms Dairy, retiring in 1972.

He was a member of the Altmar Grange. His first wife, the former Emily Twitchell, died in 1959 and his second wife, the former Frances Tousley, died in 1980.

Surviving are a brother, Dexter Bowers of Altmar; two sisters, Doris Fox of Camden and Beatrice Spedding of Minetto; and a foster son, Sam Sibley of Apulia Station.

Mr. Robert Leroy Hutchinson, 59, of 1059 Collins Lane, Williamston, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at home.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at his home.
Mr. Hutchinson was the son of Leah Redden Hutchinson of Pulaski, N.Y. He was married to Cynthia Ann Holbrook of Williamston.
Survivors include one son, Keith Comins Jr. of Grant Pass, Ore.; four daughters, Jacqueline Touhey of Clay, N.Y., Pearl Hendrickson of Oswego, N.Y., Rita Boags of Charleston, S.C., and Jean Manseau of Williamston; two sisters, Cathy Roberts of Clay, N.Y., and Carol Gareau of Pulaski, N.Y.; and 11 grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Walker Funeral Home, Williamston.

19241 Robert L. Matteson, 71, of Mexico passed away peacefully at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Leslie and Grace Hesler Matteson. He was a Navy veteran. He was a carpenter for Local #12 of Syracuse, NY. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the former Mary Jacobs; one daughter, Meredith (Jamie) Comstock of Orwell; one son, Adam R. Matteson of Oswego; four grandchildren, Koby, Hannah, Cassie and Hailey. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Monday from the Harter Funeral Home, 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico, NY. Burial will be in Mexico Village Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Robert's memory may be made to the Albany VA Stratton House, 110 Holland Avenue, Albany, NY.

Robert Lee Miller, (Bob), 72, of Pulaski, NY passed away on July 22, 2024, at St. Peters Trinity Hospital of Albany. He passed in peace, surrounded by his children.

Bob was born in Syracuse NY on March 22, 1952 to Helen Miller (Redhead) and Donald Miller Sr. Robert attended Mexico Academy. Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Robert worked for himself for most of his life - construction, tree removal - mainly manual labor jobs.

Bob is predeceased by his siblings, Randy Miller, Michael Miller Sr., Donald Miller Jr. and Phillip Miller Sr.; his mother and father as well as one of his children - Amy Sue Miller. Bob is survived by his children Michelle Miller (Green), Daniel Miller, James Miller, Anthony Miller, Christopher Miller and Kristina Miller. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Overton and Cindy Rockefeller. He is also survived by his immediate grandchildren Jasmine, Dustin, Danielle, Dravin, Daniel Jr, Brooklyn, Logan, Skylar, Kyle, Brayden, Nadia, EllaMae & Rowan. He is survived by many great grandchildren as well as his nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held for him from 10 a.m. to noon, Monday, July 29th at Foster-Hax Funeral Home at 52 Park Street Pulaski NY 13142 . Dad was not a religious man so there will be no formal religious funeral service. A small service will be held during the calling hours with a celebration of life to follow. The family will provide the information for the celebration. His final wishes were to be cremated. There will be a private burial with the family to complete the wishes Bob had.

OSWEGO, NY - Robert L. Swan Sr., 87, a resident of West Albany Street, Oswego, passed away Friday February 15, 2013, at St. Luke Health Services.

Born in Minetto, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Annabell (McLaughlin) Swan.

He was a US Marine veteran who served during World War II.

He worked at Cyclotherm as a boilermaker and later worked and retired from Alcan as a fabricator.

He enjoyed building and fabricating things.

He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving are his three sons, Donald Swan and Delina West, David R. (Cindy) Swan and Robert L. (Amy) Swan Jr., all of Oswego; five grandchildren, Joshua, David, Sarah, Robert III and Madalynn Swan; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Rose (Sperino) Swan; a brother, Fred Charles Swan; and sisters, Ann Schmidt, Mabel Gresham and Lillian Swan.

Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St. Oswego.

Robert L. Turner, 73, Horan Road, Solvay, a native of Pulaski, died Saturday at Community-General Hospital, Syracuse, after a long illness.

Mr. Turner was a safety officer with the state of New Tork, retiring in 1983 after 25 years of service.

Born May 23, 1923, in Pulaski, son of Frank and Ethel Turner, he was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific aboard the USS Benham. He lived in the Syracuse area for more than 40 years.

A member of Solvay United Methodist Church and Altmar Church, he was a life member of Pulaski Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Tipperary Hill American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret "Marge"; a stepdaughter, Cindy Newton, Camillus; a stepson, Douglas Newton, Camillus; a brother, Francis Turner, North Syracuse; three sisters, Charlotte Turner, Pulaski, Janet Stamps, Williamstown, and Doris Beach, Sackets Harbor, and two grandchildren.

A military funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Giminski-Wysocki Funeral Home, Syracuse, and at 11 a.m. in Solvay United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the Heart Association of Central New York or to the Lung Association of Central New York.

19245 Robert L.S. Rudd, 82, of Lacona passed away Monday September 4, 2017 at Samaritan Summit Village.

Mr. Rudd was born December 19, 1934 in Boylston, NY to Harley and Ruby (Mouck) Rudd. He graduated from Mannsville-Manor School and Bible College in Canada before entering the Air Force where he served for nine years. He worked as a Machine operator at Crouse Hinds in Syracuse for 28 years, retiring in 1997. He married Catherine Clark October 6, 1966 in Watertown.

Mr. Rudd was a member of the Pulaski American Legion, he attended the Sandy Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, military planes, Johnny Cash and his dog.

Mr. Rudd is survived by his wife Catherine; 3 children Randy (Jean) Rudd, Yorkshire, England, Brenda (Frank) Loomis, Mannsville, Charlotte Boykin (Brian Champion), Rochester, NY; 5 step children LoVerna (Harold) Lane, Adams, Catherine Cronk, Adams, Kimberly (Robert) Jenks, Stanton KY, Allen L (Barb) Mullin, Clay City, KY and Lisa (Merton) Maggy, Lacona and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife Shirley (Haley) Carpenter in 2006, son in law Eugene Cronk in 2017 and three brothers Rosel, Ralph and Raymond.

Calling Hours will be Saturday September 9, 2017 from 12-2pm at Summerville Funeral Home with the Funeral Service at 2pm at the funeral home, Rev Doug Marshal officiating. Burial will follow at Boylston/Sandy Creek Cemetery.

Gilmore said the man was pinned between the crane and a car it was unloading. He was dead before the arrival of medical aid and death was due to a crushed chest, according to Gilmore. The victim was born in the town of Richland, a son of Lewis and Dorothy McLean Sherman, and was graduated from Mexico central school. He served nearly four years in the Army, being discharged last month as a flight officer. Surviving are his parents, his wife, Mrs. Beulah Marion Williams Sherman; three brothers, Harold in the Army at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey, Kenneth, in the Navy at Bainbridge, Maryland, and Daryl of Pulaski, and two sisters, Adele and Carol Sherman of Pulaski.
