Mr. Bristol was a self-employed construction and demolition worker in Syracuse. Born Oct. 16, 1928, at Pratts Hollow, son of Clifford and Amanda Jaeger Bristol, he attended Madison schools. He married Eva Mae Rollins on March 30, 1950, in St. Augustine, Fla. She died Sept. 6, 1992. Surviving are four daughters, Elizabeth Herman, Orwell, Brenda Curley, Culpeper, Va., Rolanda Wallis, Parish, and Tina Babcock, Pulaski; four sons, Christian, Pulaski, Gary, Gouverneur, Douglas, Parish, and Todd, Lacona.; five sisters, Fern Davis, St. Petersburg, Fla., Dorcas Graham and Debbie Marino, both of Camden, Kate Nolan, Madison, and Ruby Hafentrager, San Diego, Calif.; four brothers, Edmund, Vienna, Richard, Rome, James, North Bay, and Jack, Fredericksburg, Va., and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born June 2, 1907 at Redfield, he was the son of Donald and Mattie Ostrander Petrie. He attended area schools and was married February 11, 1958 to Edith Weed Schlag. He farmed in the Fernwood area and was later employed at Sheffield farms, Pulaski, and later at New York Air Brake in Watertown for 15 years. He last owned and operated a gas station at the foot of the Thousand Island Bridge. He spent his summers at Harrisville and winters at Brandon, Florida. He was a member of the Fernwood Baptist Church, Robert Edwards Post 358, American Legion, Pulaski; VFW of Carthage, and Senior Citizens of Harrisville. He is survived by his wife, Edith; three daughters, Mrs. Franklin (Betty) Paro of McGraw, Mrs. Frank (Ruthann) LaMartina of Rochester, and Mrs. Ronald (Luella) Well of New Martinsville, West Virginia; three sons, Donald S. Madison St., died at his home yesterday afternoon after having been in failing health for several years. He was born in Lee Center on March 19, 1879, son of Cornelius and Lucinda Spencer Dingman. He was educated in the Lee Center school. He was married to Pearl E. Shaver in Utica on Sept. 2, 1907 by Rev. Dana Bigelow, minister of the Westminister Presbyterian Church. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Rome. In July of 1953 he retired as a machinist from the Revere where he had been employed for 37 yrs. He was a member of Rome Lodge IOOF. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Harmon D. (Marion) Smith Sr., Rome, one son Henry S. Dingman, Rome, and four grandchildren, Kathleen, Ann, William and Carey Smith. The former Maude R. Look, she was born in Amboy, daughter of William and Celia Brown Look whose ancestors were early settlers of this area coming here from England in the 1600's. Mrs. Barker was educated in Amboy and Williamstown schools and the Pulaski Teachers Training School She was first married to Lewis Archibee, Nov. 25, 1911, who died April 2, 1955. The couple owned and operated a farm on the Redfield-Williamstown Road. She was later married to Mr. Barker, who survives her. Mrs. Barker was a member of the Congregational Church of Redfield, the Redfield Grange, Redfield Rebekah Lodge and the Ontario Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution of Pulaski. She leaves her husband, George, three sons, Robert Archibee, McConnellsville; Howard Archibee, East Florence, and Vernon Archibee, Redfield; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. | 19310 | Rome Sentinel April 6, 1909 At the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Marsh, at 5:30 pm on Monday, occurred the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Fillmore Golly, widow of Joseph Golly. For the past two years she had been in poor health, suffering from a general breaking down of the system, and for the past five weeks was confined to the bed. Mrs. Golly, who was a daughter of the late Asa and Sophia Fillmore, was born in Lee on August 4, 1824. She resided in that town till two years ago, when she came to Rome. She was married to Mr. Golly on September 6, 1849. His death occurred 19 years ago. Surviving are one son and three daughters, Fillmore Golly, Mrs. Thomas Marsh and Mrs. E. E. MacFarland of this city, and Mrs. William H. Newey of West Branch. She also leaves one brother, Albert D. Fillmore, Warehouse Point, Conn. Mrs. Golly was a member of the Methodist Church of Lee Valley and was very active in church work till her health failed her. A resident of Rome until 1922, he left to go to Adams, where he was superintendent of the Snyder Packing Company there until it closed. He was born in Rome February 22, 1888, the son of Wylie and Julia Wilson Adams, and attended Rome Free Academy. His father operated the old Wiley Park House on Park St. Mr. Adams twice married. His first wife, Dora Sullivan, died about 18 years ago, and a year later he married Bessie Wilbur. He was a member of the Blue Lodge, F & AM, Adams, past high priest of Adams Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, and past patron of Cecelia Chapter, OES, Adams. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He was 81 years of age, and had lived in this town for many years. June 1, 1872 Lee Valley - A Patroit of 1812 gone - Died, at the residence of his son, Albert, in Lee, after a short but severe illness, Capt. Asa Fillmore, aged 81 years. Mr. F. was one of the early pioneers into the wilderness at the time our town was first settled, and at the breaking out of the late war with Great Britain he, with others, rallied to the defence of the country. He settled in that part of the town known as the Valley, where he succeeded in making a comfortable home and acquired a competency for himself and family. Mrs. F. died a few years ago, and since that time deceased has made a home with his son Albert, where he died on the 29th of May last. Mrs. Geo. Wentworth, Mrs. Geo. Utley and Mrs. Joseph Golley are daughters of the deceased, and there are two sons and numerous grandchildren left to mourn the absence of a father and grandfather; but let them not mourn as those without hope. He had been in poor health for the past five years. He was born at Pratham Town of Mexico, Oswego County, March 19, 1862, a son of John and Evalina Anderson Sampson. Following the death of his first wife, Maria C. Olmstead Sampson, in 1884, he married Ella F. Goodman, the ceremony taking place December 21k, 1886. The couple celebrated their golden wedding in 1936. Mr. Sampson was a carriage maker by trade and for the past 15 years had been employed by the Town of Floyd. He attended the Methodist Church and was a staunch Republican in politics. He had taken a keen interest in church and community affairs. Surviving besides his widow are two sons by his first marriage, e. R. Sampson of Floyd; and three daughters, by his second marriage, Miss Blanche E. Sampson, Mrs. Thomas G. Evans and Miss Lena E. Sampson, all of Floyd. He leaves also seven grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. C. E. Silver of Waukegan, Ill. Ronald grew up in the Pulaski, NY area and graduated from Pulaski Academy High School in 1958, after which he enlisted in the United States Air Force at age 17. After serving in the USAF and the New York Air National Guard, he joined the NY Army National Guard, graduating from the US Army Flight School as a helicopter pilot and Warrant officer during the Vietnam era. He was appointed to the New York State Troopers on June 10, 1954 and was promoted through the ranks to Sergeant and Senior Investigator/Unit Supervisor. While in uniform, he was a SCUBA diver and State Police Academy counselor. After his promotion to the Bureau of Criminal Investigations, he became an Academy instructor and hostage negotiator. Ronald completed the New York City Police Departments Emergency Services Unit training course and was the Unit Supervisor of the first New York State Police Violent Felony Warrant Squad to work out of the NYPD 50th Precinct. He was later assigned to the NYC DEA Joint Task Force and the elite "REDRUM" unit which investigates homicides associated to international drug cartels. Ronald held a BS degree in criminal justice from Empire College (SUNY) and a master's degree in criminal justice from Long Island University. He was the recipient of the prestigious "General MacArthur Distinguished Service Award" from the NYSP Alumni Association for supervising a high-risk police street enforcement unit in NYC, which was responsible for the arrest of numerous felons. Trooper Hojnacki retired on January 1, 2001 after 35 years plus of sworn police service, returning to duty 10 months later due to the 911 crisis and served an additional 3 plus years. On October 16th, 2005, returned to civilian life and moved to his home near Pulaski, NY. Spike enlisted in the army in January 1955. He was sent to the far east as part of the 24th Infantry division of the US Army. he was stationed in Korea according to a January 24, 1957 Pulaski Democrat article. He was born in Richland and graduated from Pulaski High School in 1953. He was a maintenance supervisor for Howard County, Md. He also worked at Roper Eastern Products in Baltimore, Md. He was a member of the Moose Club Lodge in Baltimore and a former member of Richland Fire Co. He was an Army veteran. Survivors: His companion, Phyllis Tilkins; three daughters, Terri Wilson of Flagstaff, Ariz., Dianne Knott of Baltimore and Nancy Lenning of Altoona, Pa.; two brothers, Robert of Sarber, Pa., and John of Daytona Beach Shores, Fla.; seven grandchildren. Newspaper Obituary - Saturday, June 2, 1951 Oswego Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Pulaski - Mrs. Rose Belle Bushnell, 79, widow of Alfred Bushnell, died suddenly at her home in Richland Friday afternoon. She had been in apparent good health up to Thursday night and had apparently arisen and was working around her kitchen after breakfast when she was suddenly stricken. A neighbor found her in the kitchen floor, apparently dead only a few moments. She was born in Richland December 28, 1871, daughter of Orrin and Mary Bumpus Sprague and always made her home in Richland and vicinity. She had been an attendant of the Richland Methodist church. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Hiram Sloan, St. Johnsville; two sisters, Mrs. Delano Atkinson, Richland, and Mrs. Ellis Church, Fernwood; a brother, Herbert Sprague, Pulaski, and a grandson, Gerald Sloan, St. Johnsville. Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, April 17, 1952 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Rosa Carpenter Dies In Hospital - Mrs. Rosa Carpenter, 74, widow of the late Charles Carpenter, died Thursday evening in the Crouse-Irving hospital in Syracuse, where she had been a patient only two days. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Foster funeral home with the Rev. K. L. Combs, pastor of the Orwell and Richland churches, officiating, with interment in the Evergreen cemetery at Orwell. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Granville Clifford, Altmar, and a son, Vernon Carpenter of Syracuse, a sister, Mrs. F. A. Hollenbeck, Norfolk, Virginia, and three grandchildren. Mrs. Carpenter was born in Boylston, November 3, 1877, daughter of Rufus and Nellie Baker Stevens. She married Mr. Carpenter, promoter of “Little America” in the Redfield section, and had lived all her life in the vicinity of Orwell and Redfield. Mr. Carpenter died November 25, 1950. Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, February 27, 1918 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Fernwood - On Sunday evening, February 16, occurred the death of Mrs. Rose Erskine after a number of weeks of illness and suffering. Mrs. Erskine was a sister of Mrs. I. J. Rich and was a very worthy lade, respected and loved by all who knew her and her home had been in Fernwood all her married life. Three children are left to miss and mourn the gentle loving quiet mother, Mrs. W. Lonas of Fulton, Mrs. Curtis Baldwin of North Mexico and a son, Mr. George Erskine of Fernwood. The children were with the mother through her illness and nothing was omitted to make her last hours comfortable. Although the day and going were very bad on which her funeral occurred many friends and neighbors gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to her who had so long lived among us. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake with Pastor Jerry Albert officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Wright County Historical Society or donor’s choice. Rose Ann Saunders was born January 8, 1935 in Sargent County, North Dakota to Peter and Mathilda (Lundquist) Russell. Rose grew up near Cogswell, where she graduated from high school in 1953. On June 11, 1954, Rose was united in marriage to Jerald Allen Saunders in Cogswell, North Dakota. Rose and Jerry moved to Bloomington where she worked various jobs while raising their family. Rose was a gifted artist, especially when it came to painting with watercolors and oils. She was an excellent seamstress as well as a phenomenal cook. She was also a collector of fine antiques. With Rose having a keen eye for details, she also ran her business of Petals of the Past in which she created matting and picture frame keepsake pieces of art. Rose spent countless hours researching her family genealogy and was eager to share the many interesting facts she was able to discover about her ancestors. Rose truly treasured the time she was able to spend with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rose is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jerry of Maple Lake; children, Pamela Saunders of Savage, Rusty (Linda) Saunders of Washington, MO, Lori (Dan) Foss of Chaska, and Daniel Saunders of Minnetonka; grandchildren, Alicia, Andrew and Joseph Saunders, Jeremy Hurley, Jacqueline Dudley, Jon (Julia) Selleys, Evan (Jessica) Schnur and Kyla Nieder ; great grandchildren, Marshall and Natalie Selleys and Emmett Schnur; son-in-law, Vince Dudley of Apple Valley; brother, Clyde Gullickson of Edgemont, SD; brother-in-law, James Patterson of California; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Rose was preceded in death by her daughter Susan Dudley, daughter-in-law Sandy Saunders, son-in-law Tom Selleys, parents, Peter Russell and Mathilda Hanson, step-father Sig Hanson, brothers Lester and Dean Gullickson and Elvin Russell, and sisters Maxine Patterson and Stella Shelton. Andrew Joseph, Rusty, and Dan Saunders, Jeremy Hurley and Jon Selleys will serve as pallbearers. Sarah Goelz will provide music for the service.
