201 ### Lambert G. Mitchell - May 30, 1853 - October 4, 1913. Plot P-66. Born in Columbus City, Indiana. Son of Daniel S. and Lucinda J. North Mitchell. Husband of Eleanor D. Hemens Mitchell. Married July 13, 1877 at Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, October 8, 1913 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Lambert Mitchell - The death of Lambert Mitchell, Sr., occurred at about 9 o'clock last Saturday evening, following an illness of only a few hours. Mr. Mitchell was about his place in the early morning, Saturday, when he was stricken with an attack of indigestion and died without scarcely rallying from the attack. He was born in Columbus City, Indiana, sixty-one years ago and came to Pulaski when about thirty years old, making his home here since that time, following farming and filling in as an auctioneer. Mr. Mitchell was a charter member of Pulaski Lodge, No. 648, I. O. O. F. joining when the lodge was established here in September, 1892. Surviving besides the widow are two sons, Lambert Mitchell of Pulaski, and Dot W. Mitchell, a New York Central operator stationed at Adams, and one daughter, Mrs. William Sanderson of Syracuse. A sister, Mrs. James Washburn, lives in Columbus City, Indiana. Pulaski Lodge attended the funeral, which was held from the home on Port Road at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon.

Military Service Spanish American War: Enlisted August 15, 1898 in the United States Army; Served as a Private in Company E, 9th Regiment United States Infantry; Honorably discharged January 30, 1899 with rank of a Private. Son of Lambert G. and Eleanor D. Hemens Mitchell. Husband of Leonora C. Umphrey Mitchell (married May 16, 1901) & Lena Maude O’Connell Johnson (married October 31, 1939.) [Note: Lena Johnson died in Pulaski, New York June 5, 1952; Lena is buried with her first husband, James Henry Johnson, in Woodlawn Cemetery at Sandy Creek, New York.]
Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, October 25, 1962 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Rites Friday for L. Mitchell, 82 - Lambert Mitchell, 82, Spanish-American War veteran, died Tuesday morning at the Veteran's Hospital in Syracuse where he had been a patient five weeks. He had been in ill health a long time. Funeral services will be held at the Taylor Funeral Home Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. W. Russell Clark, pastor of Park Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Pulaski Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Military rites will be conducted by the Robert Edwards Post, 358, American Legion. He is survived by three sons, Harold and Kenneth of Richland and Robert Mitchell of Webster; two daughters, Mrs. Leon Goodness of Oswego and Miss Jean Mitchell of Manlius, a teacher in the Manlius school; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Mitchell was born at Port Ontario on March 11, 1880, the son of Lambert and Eleanor Hemans Mitchell. He spent most of his life in Pulaski where he owned and operated the Mitchell Greenhouse for about 35 years, retiring in 1939. He was married in 1900 at Watertown to Leona Umphrey who died in 1938. He served in Company C of the 19th Regiment of the Infantry during the Spanish-American War. For the past eight years he has resided in Oswego with his daughter, Mrs. Leon Goodness. He was a member of Park Methodist Church, Robert Edwards Post, 358, and of the Odd Fellows. He was also a life member of the Ringgold Fire Company.
