Surviving are his wife, the former Betty Barbery; a daughter, Sharon Hyde, Liverpool; two sisters, Lillian Pattes, Richland, and Genevieve Daniels, Cicero; a brother, Lamont, Wanatcha, Wash,; two grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Maurer Funeral Home, Liverpool. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery. Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Known as 'Aunt Polly' to most everyone she knew, her devotion to family, friends, and a firm belief in God supported her throughout her life and ultimately gave her peace. Polly was born to the late Bert M. and Clara Tousley in Pierrepont Manor, NY on July 8, 1921. She graduated from Mannsville Manor Central School in 1939 and was employed as a practical nurse at Tampa General Hospital. After returning home to care for her father, Polly worked in area nursing homes and provided home care until retiring in 1986 to Sandy Creek, NY. Polly was dedicated to God and lived a life of service and faith. A member of Union Church, she was immersed in the Christian community and served as a missionary in Haiti for two and a half years. Polly was blessed with a large and loving family. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews as well as her treasured companion, friend and caretaker Caroline Jones. She is dearly missed by her loved ones who celebrate the fact the she is at peace with her creator. Polly is predeceased by brothers Ward (Thelma), James Frederick (Barbara), John (Rose), and Paul; sisters Doris (Willis) Sampson and Ruby (Jim) Thompson. In accordance with Polly's request a spring burial in Pierrepont Manor Cemetery, and memorial service at Union Church, will be scheduled at the convenience of the family. "Sally" Derosia Lyng, 94, formerly of LeRay Street Apartments, Watertown, and Plantation, Fla., will be at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at Cummings Funeral Service, followed by a funeral Mass at noon at the Church of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart with the Rev. Richard W. Kennedy, pastor, and the Rev. Pierre Aubin officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Lyng died Thursday at the Life Care Center at Inverrary, Lauderhill, Fla. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Lyng worked at the Taggart Paper Mill and then was a bookkeeper for her husband's coal and oil delivery service. She later owned and operated Lyng's Nursing Home on LeRay Street for several years. In 1964, she entered the practical nursing program at Watertown High School and became a licensed practical nurse. She worked at Mercy Hospital, did private home nursing duty and worked in the infirmary at the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse before retiring. She moved to Florida in October 2001. Born April 1, 1909, in the town of Orleans, daughter of William T. and Jennie E. Derosia, she received a diploma from Watertown High School. She married Gordon F. Lyng on Jan. 24, 1927, at Holy Family Church rectory with the Rev. Joseph P. Heslin officiating. Mr. Lyng, a truck driver for Burdick Coal & Oil Co., died Jan. 5, 1965. Mrs. Lyng was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society and dart ball team, and of the auxiliaries to the Knights of Columbus, North Side Improvement League and Allen-Giles American Legion Post 588, Brownville. She also did volunteer drives and was one of the first women to serve on a jury in Jefferson County. Surviving are two sons, Francis E., and his companion, Judith Withall, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Patrick M., and his wife, Judy, Watertown; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Mary) Newman, Fort Lauderdale, and Mrs. Patrick (Dianne) Shortsleeve, Plantation; 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. George Cates and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held from the Foster funeral home, Pulaski, at 2 p.m. Friday. Mr. Timmerman was a life resident of Ivens Road. He was a mechanic for 22 years at the Greyhound bus garage, Syracuse, until the garage closed in 1993. For the past two years, he was a cashier at Nice-N-Easy Grocery Shoppes, Inc. in Brewerton. He and his wife, Josephine, were foster parents for more than 14 years, caring for more than 50 children, including five they adopted. Born January 6, 1949, in Oswego, son of Frederick and Bertha Ivens Timmerman, he attended Pulaski schools. He married Josephine A. "Joey" Anzalone on Oct. 19, 1980, at Sandy Creek Baptist Church. A previous marriage ended in divorce. Surviving besides his wife are four sons, Stephen Jr., Sandy Creek, and David, Scott and William, all of Pulaski; four daughters, Shannon, Rose, Michelle and Angel, all of Pulaski; a sister, Mary Waite, Pulaski; a stepsister, Betty Rebor, Fulton, and his stepmother, Gertrude Timmerman, Fulton. Tatro, 73, of 16 Riverside Drive, died Wednesday at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone. Mr. Tatro and his wife, Marilyn, went into partnership with her parents, the late Elmer and Alice Gareau, at Gareau & Tatro Cleaners in 1956. In 1985, Mr. and Mrs. Tatro opened a laundry in the same location, semi-retiring in 2000, continuing to operate only the laundry. Mr. Tatro was a life member of Constable Volunteer Fire Department and was a founding member of Constable Rescue Department. He taught first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a 50-year member of Malone Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion, both in Malone. He was a Constable town justice for 12 years and was currently serving as a town councilman. An avid pilot, he was a member of Malone Flying Club. Born July 14, 1932, in Malone, son of Adam and Loretta Yando Tatro, he attended Malone public schools. He served three years in the Army during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge. He married Marilyn Gareau on July 10, 1954, at St. John Bosco Church, Malone, with the Rev. Frederick G. Revette officiating. Surviving besides his wife are five sons and their wives, Stephen and Cheryl, Dunkirk, Md., Scott and Keily, Clifton Park, Bruce and Cecelia, Houston, Texas, Brett and Shannon, Malone, and Paul and Crystal, Lake Clear; a daughter, Lynn Rabideau, Houston; two brothers and a sister-in-law, David and Alice, Scotia, and Robert, and his companion, Wanda Rock, Malone; a sister and her husband, Diane and Calvin Connor, Tupper Lake, and nine grandchildren. Besides his parents, five brothers, Donald, Edward, Bernard, Gerald and Raymond, and a sister, Betty Reome, died before him. A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Church with the Rev. James F. Lamitie officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home, Malone. Newspaper Obituary - May 24, 1911 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Altmar District - Stephen Litts was born in Richland December 23, 1836 and died in Altmar May 15, 1911. His wife, Ellen Beadle Litts, died in 1903. Mr. Litts had lived in Altmar for 45 years and was well known and respected by the people. During his long illness he was lovingly cared for by his children, of whom there are two sons, Daniel, of Syracuse and Nathaniel of Rochester and two daughters, Mrs. M. E. Shepard, of Syracuse and Mrs. Frances Fay of Altmar. He also had three grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. B. E. Whipple on Wednesday May 17. Two songs were sweetly sung by Miss Blanche Jones and Mrs. D. A. Fradenburg. Beautiful flowers bespoke the love and sympathy of friends and relatives. Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, February 14, 1889 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Daysville - Another of our oldest inhabitants has "passed over" and gone to that bourne from which no traveler returns. Stephen Soule died February 6th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Robbins, in the 77th year of his age. He has always been remarkably active for one of his age, and had been on a visit to Pineville but a few weeks before his death. Steve was born September 19, 1965, in Long Beach, CA, the son of Leon A. and Marcia J. Holmes Woods. Steve was a hard worker, he worked as a landscaper and handyman, always eager to help out other people. He loved his life on the Salmon River, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Surviving are two children, Steve Woods, Jr. and Nathaniel Woods both of Williamstown, former spouse, Melissa Woods, and her children Eleanor and Jessica, two grandsons, Wyatt and Nash Woods, his sister, Gloria Potts of West Chazy, NY, brothers, Ralph and Leon (Elizabeth) Woods, both of Pulaski, David Woods of California, and John Woods of Oswego and many nieces and nephews. Steve was predeceased by his siblings, Robert, Carolyn, Debbie and Richard. Steven was born February 26, 1937 in Brooklyn, the son of Morris and Rose Stern Rosenbaum. He graduated from Binghamton Central School. Steven served in the United States Army from 1959 until 1962. He owned the North Country Manor Apartment in Pulaski since the early 1970s. Steven was a member of the VFW Post #7289 in Pulaski and the Russell Horning American Legion in Parish. Surviving: his companion, Elaine Regner of Pulaski; four daughters, Wendy (Brad) Smart of Skaneateles, Geri Stone of Oswego, Vanessa (Brian) Woolson of Syracuse, Heather Rosenbaum of Syracuse; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
