He was born in Germany, February 21, 1849 and came to America with his parents the late George and Anna (Sayers) Waggoner, when a small child. He ! was a mason by trade and was one of the most industrious men of the i town;'when not working at his thrade I he was engaged in the study and cul- ture of fruit and vegetables, many | years producing more in value from his garden spot, than other men raised on small farms. Few, if any in town, were better versed than he in the Bible; having during the past 1 forty years made it a constant study. Mr. "Waggoner was twice married, his first wife died November 16, 1916. In November 1917, he was united in! marriage with Mrs. Ellen White, of Norwich, who still survives him. He! is also survived by one daughter, Mrs., Simon Glover of Richland, two sons, George Jr., and Victor D. of Orwell, one brother, John "Waggoner of Boyl- ston and one sister, Mrs. Charles Hilton, of Orwell. His funeral service was conducted by his brother! in the faith, Mr. Rice, pastor of an Adventist church in Syracuse. His; well chosen words and passages of scripture were conceded by all as very fitting for* the occassion. Burial was made in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends present at the funeral from out of town were, Mrs. Simon Glover, Richland, John Waggoner, of Boyl- ston, Mrs. Alice B. Austen, of Lacona Mr. and Mrs. S. R. He is a member of the Grand Army of the Republic of Orwell, in which he has held the principal offices, and about which he has recently written a book.
