| 2505 | Christina Pirnie Pride - July 6, 1855 - December 12, 1930. Daughter of Alexander and Jane McClelland Pirnie. Wife of John Flavel Pride. Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, December 18, 1930 Boonville Herald - Boonville, New York - Christina Pirnie Pride Died Friday in Pulaski - At her home in Pulaski, Friday, December 12, occurred the death of Christina Pirnie Pride, aged 75 years. She was born in Split Rock, New York, the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary Pirnie. She was the oldest of ten children. In 1875 she married Flavel Pride of Pulaski, where she lived since. Her husband died about five years ago. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Etta Saindin of Geneva and Mrs. May Barclay of Pulaski; also by three grandchildren; three brothers, William and Edwin Pirnie of Remsen and Roscoe C. Pirnie of Pulaski; three sisters, Mrs. Hary Hall, Mrs. Catherine A. Pritchard and Mrs. H. L. Davis of Utica. With her parents she came to Remsen to live when she was about ten years of age, where her father bought the farm now known as the Gallagher place. It was an attractive place for a Scotchman to build upon, almost surrounded by woods, the Cincirmatus Creek and a "chattering" brook flowing near the house. Here with her brothers and sisters she grew to womanhood, the "boniest maid here abouts and all the world" as her father would say of her. And she was all that he implied. With a keen sense of humor, an active mind, always with a smile on her face, she lived her life. Early in life she united with the Methodist Church of Remsen, taking her membership to the Methodist Church at Pulaski when she went there to live. Faithful to her church, [unreadable] she lived her Christian life. To those of us who knew her in the years gone by there is a real sorrow in her death, but a beautiful memory of her life. The funeral was held Sunday from the Methodist Church at Pulaski, the pastor of the church officiating. The Woman's Relief Corps of that place, of which she was a charter member, attended the funeral in a body. Interment was made in Fernwood cemetery. Her brothers, William and E. S. Pirnie from here attended the funeral. | Pirnie, Christina (I52683)

| 2511 | Cindy Parker DeFoore Obituary Cindy Parker DeFoore passed away on February 25, 2025 in Denton, Texas. She was 69 years of age at the time of her death. She was born on August 5, 1955 in Pulaski, New York to Bruce and Helen Parker. After completing business school in Rochester, New York, she moved to Dallas where she held several different positions in business management. Among other jobs, she worked for Fox and Jacobs builders, and then held a position as office manager with a company called Nickles and Dimes, where she headed up their racehorse operation for 20 years before becoming co-owner with her husband of Halcyon Life Enterprises, LLP in the year 2001. Cindy married William (Bill) DeFoore on June 2, 2001 in Dallas, Texas, followed by an informal marriage ceremony in Florence, Italy on June 21, 2001. William (Bill) DeFoore, Ph.D. L.P.C. is a counselor with over 50 years’ experience, and Cindy managed their business since their marriage in 2001. From the time she was a small child, Cindy found comfort and peace in the presence of nature and animals. She and her cousins would hop on their horses bareback and take off for a full day of play in the beautiful countryside. She and Bill also had horses for the first few years of their 24-year marriage, before transitioning to keeping donkeys. Lulu, Penelope, and Gusto, our three donkeys are still here, and they miss the tender care that only Cindy could provide. Cindy was also a very good dancer, and she and Bill took dance lessons together during their courtship, and into their marriage. They enjoyed travel and hiking, and always planned their trips with good hiking trails in mind. Cindy and Bill are further blessed by amazing friends, who have been a central and essential part of their lives. Cindy played ukulele, and Bill plays guitar, and they enjoyed many hours of playing and singing together with their friends, as well as attending the many live music venues in the wonderful town of Denton, Texas. Cindy was a very open-minded and curious explorer of the mysteries of this amazing life. She was an inspiration to Bill throughout their relationship, introducing him to new books and points of view. She loved to learn and expand her consciousness, always with a vision to be the best person she could be. And she was indeed a wonderful person. She smiled at everyone she saw, and they could not help but smile back. She was gracious and kind, especially to those who might be left out, ignored, or disregarded. This world is better for her having been here, and those who knew her will never forget her bright, elegant, and loving spirit. Cindy is survived by her husband Bill (William DeFoore), her brothers-in-law, Rick DeFoore and Marney DeFoore, and their wives Janet DeFoore and Pam DeFoore, and her step-mother Judy (Schreiner) Parker. She was also blessed to have loving nieces and nephews, and many, many little ones born to them. Cindy and Bill were further blessed by many loving cousins throughout the U.S. Cindy and Bill were adopted by two families during their married life. They had no children of their own, but these chosen family members were and are precious to them. Brett and Susan Decker, as well as Jonathan and Andrea Newman welcomed Cindy and Bill into their hearts, homes, and lives, blessing them beyond measure. Newspaper Obituary - Friday Morning, July 10, 1925 Utica Daily Press - Utica, New York - Two Fliers Burn To Death In Plane Wreck Near Syracuse - Syracuse, July 9 - (AP) - George O. Ceratt of Syracuse, and Clarence Floyd Filkins of Belle Isle, were burned to death tonight when the airplane piloted by Ceratt, with Filkins as his passenger, burst into flames and went into a nose dive in an oat field near Amboy. Howard Hawley and John A. Krans had stopped their automobile to watch the aircraft and saw it plunge. They rushed to the scene and found both men dead beside the burning ruins. They attached a chain to the airplane and used their automobile to draw it [lines missing] to direst the airplane toward a grove of trees in an apparent effort to effect a landing in an oat field when it burst into flames and crashed. The plane was flying at an altitude of between 200 and 300 feet at the time, according to spectators. Newspaper Obituary - Saturday Evening, July 11, 1925 Rome Sentinel - Rome, New York - Plane Tragedy to Bring City Statute to Regulate Flying - Syracuse, July 11 - George O. Ceratt, 30, owner of the Empire Garage, 201 South State Street, who with Clarence F. Filkins, 18, of Mexico, was killed when the airplane in which they were riding fell Thursday evening on the McNeil farm, Belle Isle-Amboy road will be buried at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon in Myrtle Hill Cemetery from the undertaking rooms of P. J. Cody, 118 South Wilbur avenue. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Ceratt, Warners; a brother, Harry C. Ceratt, Syracuse, and a sister, Mrs. Melvin M. Burtis, 119 Hawley avenue. The body of Clarence Filkins was sent to Pulaski yesterday where funeral services under direction of undertaker Foster will be held. Filkins was taking his first trip in an airplane when the fatal accident occurred, although Ceratt had escaped serious injury when his plane had fallen twice before, once August 10, 1924, when a hydroplane he was piloting fell into Onondaga Lake, and again August 20. The young passenger victim was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fillcins, Mexico. Besides his parents, he is survived by four brothers, Leon Filkins with whom he lived, Newton, Bert and Harold Filkins and two sisters, Miss Risona Filkins, Mexico, and Mrs. Bessie Barto, Lake George. Citing the young aviator's accident as a case in point, Commissioner James B. Spencer, Department of Public Safety, yesterday deplored the lack of a city ordinance endowing the department with power to regulate airplane traffic. He declared that he would petition the Common Council to enact the necessary legislation at the next meeting. Complaints from taxpayers who ask that action be taken to prohibit low-flying, endangering lives and property of residents, and several accidents in which planes flying so low as to be unable to volplane to earth in case of motor trouble, are said to be the cause of his action.
