Prouty, 90, of 7513 Delano St., died Monday at the Samaritan-Keep Home, Watertown. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home with the Rev. Elizabeth Mowry officiating. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Park United Methodist Church. Surviving are several cousins. Born on July 24, 1903, in Pulaski, daughter of Frank and Clara Frary Prouty, she graduated from Pulaski High School in 1920 and from Oswego Normal School in 1922. She graduated cum laude from Syracuse University with a bachelor's degree in education in 1936. Miss Prouty taught in Sodus from 1922 to 1924 and taught seventh- and eighth-grade social studies and English at Pulaski High School from 1924 until retiring in 1964. She was a lifelong resident of Pulaski and a member of Park United Methodist Church, the Pulaski Civic Club and Pulaski Chapter 157, Order of the Eastern Star. Ingersoll, 99, Rochester, formerly of Pulaski and Watertown, died July 10 at the home of his daughter, Mary Fiorito, Rochester. He was a mechanic in Schenectady, then co-owned a Mobil gas station on the corner at the Court Street Bridge and Main Street, Watertown, and later operated a farm on the Parrish Road. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Lehigh Acres, Fla. Born Jan. 12, 1901, in Pulaski, son of Percy and Mary Kelsey Ingersoll, he graduated from Pulaski Academy in 1921. He married Dorothy Bellinger on Aug. 18, 1923, at her home in Watertown, with the Rev. Harold Strathern, pastor of Rochester Methodist Church, officiating. Mrs. Ingersoll died April 18, 1981. He was a past member of the Pamelia Volunteer Fire Department and a former Pamelia town justice. Surviving besides his daughter are a granddaughter, Kim Fiorito, Rochester; a grandson, Gregory Fiorito, Minnesota, and nieces and nephews. Three sisters, Eva Brown, Ethel Orton and Martha Gardner, died before him. The funeral was July 13 at Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Hilton. Burial was in Pulaski Cemetery. NICHOLS TEACHER AND SOCIAL WORKER Watertown Daily Times (NY) - January 21, 2000Browse Issues Frances Edith McChesney Nichols, 94, Springbrook Apartments, Pulaski, former teacher in Sandy Creek, died Wednesday at her home. Mrs. Nichols was a teacher in Hudson, Pulaski and Sandy Creek for 16 years. She was also a social worker at several hospitals for 20 years. Born Aug. 29, 1905, in Avon, Conn., a daughter of F. Earl and Ruth Austin McChesney, she was a 1921 graduate of Pulaski Academy High School and received a bachelor's degree in 1925 from Syracuse University. She served in the Army censorship department during World War II. She married Christopher Nichols on June 19, 1950, in Ithaca. Mr. Nichols died Sept. 18, 1956. Mrs. Nichols returned to Pulaski in 1972. Mrs. Nichols was a member of Pulaski Congregational Church, Women's Pilgrims Guild, and the Tuesday Study Club, Civic Club, Historical Society and Daughters of the American Revolution, all in Pulaski. Surviving are two brothers, William McChesney, San Jose, Calif., and Dr. Hugh McChesney, Pulaski; a sister, Lillian Kemp, Pulaski; and a stepson, Nicholas Nichols, Valois. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski. Spring burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Adams Dies; Was Trade School Head - Ogdensburg - Elwin C. (Jack) Adams, 72, 405 Canton Street, former principal of the George Hall Trade School, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hepburn Hospital, following surgery. He had been ill four years. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ogdensburg Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are from 7 to 9 this evening and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Donations may be made to the Ralph Wiber Memorial Scholarship Fund at Ogdensburg Free Academy. Mrs. Owen (Mildred) McNett, Dansville. born at Woodsville near Pulaski, December 14, 1903, son of John and Lucinda Colvin Adams, he was graduated from Pulaski High School and Oswego Normal School. He held a bachelor's degree from Buffalo State University and a master's from New York University. Mr. Adams came to Ogdensburg in 1929 after organizing the first trade and vocational education program in Maryland, at Hagerstown. He taught the first high school shop classes here. When the George Hall Trade School was established in 1937, Mr. Adams served as its first principal, a position he held until his retirement in 1965. During World War II he was director of War Industries Training Class held at the school, operating 24 hours per day for 4 'A years. More than 1,000 men were trained for skilled work in war production plants and for the military service during that time. His first wife, the former Anna Shepard of Pulaski, died in 1938, and he married Maple Wolfe in 1940. She operates the St. Lawrence Antique Shop in partnership with Mrs. Lawrence Green.
