Dr. Albert E. Lawrence, Jr., 83, of Cape Coral, went home to the Lord on Thursday, May 20, 1999 in Cape Coral. Born August 28, 1915 in Watertown, NY, son of Rev. Albert and Inez Lawrence, Sr. Dr. Lawrence was a graduate from Syracuse University with a BA and Master's Degree and Doctorate from Cornell University. He was a retired Professor from SUNY Cortland in NY and also was a teaching consultant in Indonesia and Brazil. He was a member of Cape Coral First United Methodist Church, President of the Cape Coral First United Methodist Men, and Chairman of the International Relationships for the Kiwanis of Cape Coral.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Suka; daughter, Elizabeth (Betty) and her husband Ted Davenport of Skaneateles, NY; sister, Bella Turgeon of FL; brother, Howard (Helen) Lawrence of NC; foster daughter, Rohaeti Sutaryo of Indonesia; grandsons, Andrew (Holly) Davenport of MD, Jim (Kacey) Davenport of MA; granddaughter, Patti (Chris) Schreiber of NY; three foster grandchildren in Indonesia and three great-grandchildren: Jesse, Cody and Zachary.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 24, 1999 at 3:30 p.m. at Cape Coral First United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends Sunday from 5 - 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cape Coral First United Methodist Church, 4118 Coronado Pkwy., Cape Coral, FL 33904.

Emily Arlene Lewis Tuck Maglione July 3, 2011

Emily Arlene Lewis Tuck Maglione, 96, of Midlothian, VA, born April 13, 1915, in Ellisburg, NY, died July 3, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clara and John Lewis, six brothers and three sisters. Married to the late Harold G. Tuck of Camden, NY and to the late Louis Maglione of Vero Beach, FL. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Tuck DeWitt of Macedon, NY and Tamara Tuck Virginia of Midlothian, VA, seven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Emily was a journalist for over 30 years with the Rome Daily Sentinel and the Syracuse Herald-Journal. While living in Vero Beach, FL, she wrote a weekly Bridge column with an extensive circulation. She was a Camden Central School substitute teacher, holds a Life Master Bridge certificate, formed and directed the Helping Hands duplicate bridge group of 100 members while in FL, was an accomplished oil painter (her oil of the Camden Town Hall was donated to the Historical Museum in Camden and is displayed there); civically active in Camden heading several charity drives and served as president of various organizations including the Business & Professional Women’s Club; Philomathic Club; Parent-Teacher Assoc; Robert S. Moran Legion’s Women’s Auxiliary; United Methodist Church Women’s Society Christian Services (WSCS). She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church.

She was an observer/watcher during World War II and on the rationing board. Was the first one to ring the bells in the Methodist Church when the ultimate victory was announced at the end of World War II. Gertrude Palmeter and Emily formed and organized the Women’s Service Corps and daily solicited and provided cookies, fruit and cigarettes to servicemen on the train while stopping in Camden on the way to Plattsburgh.

A Memorial Service will be at the United Methodist Church at 132 Main Street, Camden, NY, on Saturday, July 16, 2011, with the Rev. Steve Maddox officiating. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. and the service will be at 11 a.m. Internment will follow immediately at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Newspaper Obituary - Sunday, September 16, 2007 Syracuse Herald American - Syracuse, New York - Frances C. Riley, 93, life resident of Richland, died Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. Born October 9, 1913, in Richland, she was the daughter of Edward and Chloe Pierce Carr. She graduated from Pulaski Academy School in 1932 and married Elmer D. Riley on June 10, 1933. He died May 27, 1969. She was employed by the U.S. Post Office in Richland for 16 years, retiring in 1983. She was previously employed by Wildhack's Drug Store in Newark for several years. Frances was a member of Park United Methodist Church, Pulaski, the Home Bureau, ROSA Garden Club, Half-shire Historical Society and Thrift and was a past member of Richland Pilot's Association. Surviving: one daughter, Sharon F. Riley of Deansboro, and one son, Keith C. Riley of Syracuse. She was predeceased by one son, David D. Riley on February 5, 2005. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski, with Dr. Robert Pennock (nephew) officiating. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery. No calling hours.

Margaret E. Scram Scriber "Maggie," 95, of Pineville, passed peacefully on January 31, 2009, surrounded by family. Maggie was born in Fulton, NY, at 513 Utica Street on December 13, 1913, to Floyd and Elizabeth Catlin Scram. She graduated from Pulaski High School in 1932. She married Leland L. Scriber on September 20, 1935, and the couple moved to Pennsylvania, where they resided until returning to the area in 1953. She wrote the Pineville Pickins Column for the Pulaski Democrat for 10 years and was noted throughout the area for her homemade fried cakes and baked goods. Her husband died in 1981. She was predeceased by her daughters, Betty, Sara and Nancy; brother Francis Scram; and sister Lillian Kalk. Survived by her daughter, Frances, and son-in-law, Fred Reynolds, and her son, Peter Scriber, all of Pineville; seven grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart, Marty, Lee, Mary, Norton, Sherry Stern, Bonita Palmer, Guile and Mallory Scriber; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 4, at 7 p.m. at Maggie's home at 382 County Route 48 in Pineville. The family will receive friends and relatives at her home throughout the day on Wednesday, prior to the service. Spring burial will be in Pineville Cemetery. Mary E. Parker, 88, formerly of 45 Lake St., died Wednesday at Loretto Buckley Landing Nursing Home, Liverpool.

Miss Parker taught social studies at Williamson Central School for 30 years, retiring in 1977. She also taught at Candor High School for several years.

Born Sept. 17, 1915, in Pulaski, daughter of Clayton and Anna Bambury Parker, she graduated from Pulaski High School in 1932 and received bachelor's and master's degrees from the Maxwell School of Citizenship at Syracuse University.

She served in the Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946 in Washington, D.C., where she kept aviation diaries and wrote about aviation history.

She returned to Pulaski after retiring.

Miss Parker was a member of Pulaski Congregational Church, Robert Edwards American Legion Post 358, Pulaski Historical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 159 and Women's Civic Club.

She was historian for the town of Richland and village of Pulaski for many years; helped organize Pulaski Day celebrations and the sesquicentennial celebration in 1982, and worked with PROP (Preservation and Revitalization of Pulaski) and the Heritage Foundation on historical preservation in the village of Pulaski.

For many years she wrote the "Way Back When" column for the Pulaski Democrat and later for Salmon River News. She was a recipient of the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge Award and a Fulbright grant for study in Brazil.

Surviving are a niece and her husband, Nancy and Jack Thomas, Pulaski, five great-nieces and two great-nephews.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home with the Rev. James Tschudy officiating. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jeanette C. Sharp, 93, formerly of 80 Hanover St., Meriden, CT, died Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at MidState Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Richard J. Sharp, Sr.

She was born in Pulaski, NY, the daughter of the late Melvin and Goldia Danough Hutchens. She had been employed for 20 years with the Meriden-Wallingford Society for the Handicapped and was a member of the First Congregational Church, serving as a deaconess at the church.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Robert West of Meriden; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard J. Sharp, Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK and Ronald M. and Deborah Sharp of Thomasville, GA; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Lovella Havens and a brother, Robert Hutchens. Her family would like to express their deepest appreciation to her other family at Coccomo Memorial Health Care Center.

The funeral service will be held Friday, December 23 at 10 a.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Dr. John W. Clarke will officate. Burial at the convenience of the family will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Warners, NY. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday (today) from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mrs. Towsley was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church and a member of the Pulaski Senior Citizens Club.
