Josephine E. Parkhurst George, 91, Bluffton, S.C., formerly of Pulaski and Huntington, Long Island, died Friday at Coastal Carolina Medical Center, Hardeeville, S.C. Mrs. George was a master teacher at Oswego State Teachers College for 20 years and had last taught at Garden City Schools on Long Island. Born Oct. 8, 1915, in Pulaski, daughter of Charles and Lefa Williams Kenyon, she graduated from Pulaski High School in 1933 and later from Syracuse University. She married Clifton A. George on June 27, 1965, at Minetto with the Rev. Charles T. Holcombe officiating. She was a member and past president of the Women's Relief Corps and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Park United Methodist Church. Surviving is her husband. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Pulaski Cemetery with the Rev. Brian S. Homan officiating.

Former Tully resident M. Isabel Bishop, 75, died Monday at the home of her son in Johnstown.

A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Mrs. Bishop lived in Tully many years before moving to Johnstown in 1990. She retired in 1972 as a special education teacher with Westhill school district and previously taught elementary school with Tully Central Schools. Mrs. Bishop was a graduate of Oswego State Teachers College and received her masters degree from Syracuse University. Her husband, William G., died in 1986.

Mrs. Bishop was a former member of St. Leo's Church, Tully, and a member of St. Patrick's Church in Johnstown and its Altar Guild. In Johnstown, she was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 685 and the 50-Plus Club.

Surviving are a son, Edward J. of Johnstown; two brothers, Bernard of Tully and Gregory Rule of Fulton; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Leo's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Louis Aiello. Burial will be in St. Leo's Cemetery, Tully.

There will be no calling hours.

ROBERT G. SEAMANS RETIRED DAIRY FARMER

Robert Germain Seamans, 84, Woodville and Zephyrhills, Fla., died Feb. 8 at Pasco Community Hospital in Florida.

Mr. Seamans operated a dairy farm in Woodville for more than 40 years. He was a salesman for Robson Seed Co. and also worked for Harbor Builders Supply Inc., Henderson.

Born Feb. 1, 1915, in Altmar, son of Don Clayton and Leah Irene Mattison Seamans, he graduated from Pulaski Academy. He was a seaman and deckhand for three years during the 1930s on Great Lakes ore vessels.

He married Mary Ethel O’Connor on May 30, 1942, in St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Adams, with the Rev. Walter T. Cleary officiating. The couple lived on North Landing Road for most of their married lives. Mrs. Seamans died May 26, 1991.

Surviving are two daughters, Sheila M. Byrnes, Baldwinsville, and Linda L. Rivers, Fairport; two brothers, Donald, Pulaski, and Guy, Copenhagen, and four grandsons.

A memorial service in Jefferson County will be at a later date. The body was cremated. Arrangements were with Oakley Funeral Home, Zephyrhills.

Laura James, 92, passed away at Menorah Park Sunday night. Born in Parish, NY, she graduated from Pulaski High School. She attended Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and worked at Albany Medical Center, where she specialized in contagious diseases. She returned to Syracuse in 1949 and worked at City Hospital, later Silverman Hospital, until she retired. She worked as a nursing supervisor, assistant Director of Nursing and finally Director of Nurses. She was an avid gardener who supplied friends and family with fruits and vegetables, as well as flowers, and indulged her passion for reading when she retired. She is survived by her daughter, Betsy (Gerry) Ahnert of Syracuse; a sister, Annamae Reed; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial celebration at her home in April. She will be buried with her husband, Richard H. James, at Graceland Cemetery, Albany, NY.

Madeline J. Thompson, 91, formerly of Pulaski, died Tuesday at Michaud Nursing Home, Fulton.

Mrs. Thompson was a licensed practical nurse for 10 years at Van Duyn Home, Syracuse, retiring in 1976, and was a member of the New York State LPN Association.

Born Aug. 14, 1911, in Elk Point, S.D., daughter of Frederick and Nina Palmer Johnson, she graduated from Pulaski Academy in 1928 and from Oswego Hospital in 1965 as an LPN. She also attended Central City Business Institute, Syracuse.

She lived in Fulton for many years, moving to Syracuse in 1965 and to Baldwinsville in 1995.

A marriage ended in divorce.

Surviving are a son, Robert J. Jr., Syracuse; three daughters, Shirley A. Davidson, Baldwinsville, Joanne M. Dittman, Zephyrhills, Fla., and Sandra A. Woodard, Oswego; two brothers, Robert and Albert Johnson, both of Pulaski; two sisters, Dorothy Tubbs and Alice Zufelt, both of Camillus, 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Park United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marilyn Stevens officiating. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home.

Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, August 4, 2005 The Post-Standard - Syracuse, New York - Dorothy E. Geer, age 91, of Springbrook Apts., Pulaski, died Wednesday at James Square Nursing Home, Syracuse. She was born on July 27, 1914, in Pulaski, the daughter of Charles and Fannie Stark Wilder. She graduated from Pulaski High School in 1933 and graduated from Deibert Private Business School in 1935. She married Francis B. Geer on June 21, 1938. Mr. Geer died November 27, 1993. Dorothy was employed by Pulaski School District for 12 years as a clerk, retiring in 1962. She previously was employed by Hasting Real Estate & Ins. Agency, Pulaski. She was a 77-year member of the Pulaski Baptist Church and Ann Judson Mission Circle, a member of Pulaski Women's Civic Club, and former member of Pulaski OES#159. Surviving are her son, Dr. James F. Geer of Endicott; a daughter, Ruth Pederson of Herndon, VA; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park St., Pulaski, with Rev. Brett Charsky officiating. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Pulaski Baptist Church, Bridge St., Pulaski, 13142.

August 7, 2003 Sarah Jane Gowin of Edgerton Estates, Minoa, died Thursday at Hallmark Nursing Centre in Minoa. A native of Altmar, N.Y., Mrs. Gowin resided in East Syracuse many years before moving to Minoa. Mrs. Gowin had retired as a teacher'said from East Syracuse-Minoa Schools. She was a former communicant of St. Matthew's Church in East Syracuse and currently attended St. Mary's Church in Minoa. She was the first chairperson of the ESM Scholarship Fund, an honorary member of the ESM PTA, a member of the East Syracuse Baseball Association Auxiliary, a member of the St. Francis Holy Rosary Society, and a member of the Minoa Golden Age Club. Survivors: her husband- A. Bernard Rule, 84, of Tully died Wednesday at University Hospital.

Born in Canada, he graduated from Pulaski Academy High School. He retired in 1979 after 20 years as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of St. Leo’s Church, Tully, Orchard Valley Golf Course, LaFayette, and the Knights of Columbus, Syracuse.

Survivors: His wife, Margaret V.; two daughters, Bernice Rule of Tully and Verla Rule of Syracuse; a son, Raymond E. of California; a brother, Gregory of Phoenix; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Charles H. Kaine, 73, County Route 22, died Monday in Oswego Hospital.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Pine Meadows Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Robert Green officiating. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Dugway.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 7385 Park St., Pulaski. Donations may be made to the Pine Meadows Wesleyan Church or Gideon’s International in Watertown.

Surviving are his wife, L. Merlin; a son, Sidney C., Altmar; a daughter, Linda J. Pijor, Fairfield, Conn.; four grandchildren; a brother, Derold, Cuylmer, and two sisters, Dorothy Murray, Baldwinsville, and Muriel Weldon, Parish.

Born March 23, 1917, in the Town of Orwell, son of Harold and Bernice Wiggins Kaine, he was graduated from Pulaski Academy High School in 1935 and received a bachelor’s degree from Houghton College in 1939.

He received a master’s degree in education and administration from Syracuse University in 1948, and a master’s degree in science from SU in 1959.

Mr. Kaine was a high school science teacher at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School for 39 years, retiring in 1979.

He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945. He married Lillian Merlin Janacek April 9, 1942, at Sandy Creek.

Mr. Kaine was a member of the Pine Meadows Wesleyan Church, the Watertown Chapter of Gideon’s International, the Russell Tryon American Legion Post 1435, the New York State Retired Teachers Association and the Oswego County Retired Teachers Association.

Frances O. Wart, age 87, of 60 Park Street, Pulaski, died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. She was born in Pulaski on June 15, 1916, the daughter of Orimell and Anna Coburn Olmstead. She was a longtime resident of Pulaski, graduating from Pulaski Academy School in 1934, and was a member of the championship basketball team in 1934. She also attended Smith College for office training. She worked at the Rochester Ordinance-War Dept., Rochester, NY, from 1940-44 as office manager. She served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-46 in Washington, D.C. where she served as administrative assistant for the Army-Navy Petroleum Board. She also served in the Security Dept. of Los Alamos, NM, before separating from the service in May 1946. She also served in the U.S. Navy Reserves and was honorably discharged October 15, 1954. She married Robert E. Wart on June 3, 1950. She was employed by R.E. Wart Insurance Agency from 1953 to 1978 and previously employed by Ontario Iron Works in Pulaski from 1946-50. She was an active member of the Pulaski Tuesday Study Club, the Pulaski Historical Society, a member of the Park United Methodist Church, and the Salmon River Fine Arts Center. Surviving are her husband Robert E. Wart; a daughter Anne F. Wart of Pulaski; a son Robert J. Wart and his wife Martha H. Wart of Barrington, RI; a daughter Joan W. Olmstead and her husband Timothy P. Whitehouse of Montreal, Quebec; three granddaughters and two grandsons. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski, with Rev. Marilyn Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Pulaski Cemetery. Katherine L. Galipeau, 92, of Bridgeport, passed away Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Pulaski, she lived in Syracuse over 50 years before moving to Orlando, FL, in 1996, then to Bridgeport in 2006.

She was employed by the Army Missile Command in Syracuse for several years, followed by the VA Medical Center in Syracuse, where she was an administrative assistant, retiring in 1985. Katherine was a longtime member of St. Patrick's church choir and its Altar and Rosary Society.

She was predeceased by her husband, Howard, in 1999 and by her grandson, Mark Francher, in 1995.

Surviving are her two daughters, Joan Ragland of Martinsville, VA, and Susan (Paul) Francher of Geddes; one son, Gary (Barbara Goss) Galipeau of Bridgeport; two sisters, Marietta Kinch of Elbridge and Betty Franklin of Roanoke, VA; one brother, James March of Manlius; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Patrick's Church, Syracuse. Calling hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, Solvay. Private burial will be in Pulaski Village Cemetery, Pulaski. Condolences may be offered at www.bagozzitwins.com

Harrison E. Wiggins, 86, of county Route 17, Williamstown, died Thursday. Born in Altmar, he graduated from Pulaski Academy. He retired in the 1970s as general manager of Omega Wire Co. and previously was a foreman at Laribee Wire Co. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and the National Trappers Association. His second wife, the former Eunice Flagg, died previously; a son, James, died in 1947.

Survivors: His former wife, Virginia Comstock of Williamstown; three daughters, Beverly Ripka of Altmar, Alice Trumble of Camden and Jennie Dillenbaugh of Pulaski; three sons, Joseph of Schertz, Texas, John of Philadelphia, Pa., and Timothy of Altmar; a brother, Allen of Oneida; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Levina B. Greene, 72, Hammondsport, former resident of the Altmar area, died Saturday evening in the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayer, Pa.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Elizabeth Mowry, pastor of Park United Methodist Church, Pulaski, officiating. Burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery, Lysander.

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Surviving are two sons, James A. and Ronald G. Eldred, both of Altmar; a daughter, Mary E. Barber, Altmar; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson, and a brother, Richard Benjamin, Oswego.

Born in Brownville on Feb. 12, 1917, a daughter of Roy and Mabel Fitzgerald Benjamin, she was graduated from Pulaski Academy and High School in 1934.

A marriage to Guy A. Eldred ended in divorce. She married Wade Greene in 1966. Mr. Greene died in 1977.

Mrs. Greene was a resident of the Altmar area from 1935 to 1963. She moved to Phoenix in 1963 and to Hammondsport in 1977. She was employed by the General Electric Corp., Syracuse, for 30 years.

She was a member of the General Electric Electronettes women’s organization.
