Newspaper Obituary - Monday, February 25, 1991 The Valley News - Fulton, New York - Carol M. Clark, Mother of Fulton Woman ¬Carol M. Clark, 45, of Route 2 Orwell, died Monday, February 18 at A. L. Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton. Mrs. Clark died from injuries she suffered in a one-car accident on Route 264 in Schroeppel. She was a life resident of the Pulaski-Orwell area. She was an Avon representative and was names to its President's Club for top sales for the past four years. Mrs. Clark was a former president of the auxiliary of Cable Trail Post 8534, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Lacona and a former chairwoman of its Junior Girls VFW Post. She was named chairwoman of the year by New York State Junior Girls VFW. Mrs. Clark was a member of the auxiliary of Robert Edwards Post 358, American Legion in Pulaski. She was president of the auxiliary of Orwell Volunteer Fire Department and recording secretary of the auxiliary of Oswego County Fire Department Association. Mrs. Clark was also a member of the Orwell Library Board and the Orwell Planning Board. She is survived by her husband, Roger R.; a son, Raymond D. II of Orwell; a daughter, Theresa Switzer of Fulton; her mother, Reta Summerville of Pulaski; a brother, Charles Summerville Jr., of Sandy Creek; three sisters, Shirley Blais of Liverpool, Patricia VanNort of North Syracuse, and Charlotte DeGaetano of Pulaski; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 21 in Park United Methodist Church, Pulaski. Spring burial will be in South Richland Cemetery. | 4517 | Class of 1964 PACS Erma was born in Richland the daughter of the late Harry & Mabel (Barker) Potter. She was one of a family of seven, having two sisters and four brothers. She grew up on the family farm just east of the hamlet, and attended Richland elementary school. Erma was on the bowling league and worked with the play for two years. Following school Erma went to work in the cafeteria of the Richland school. When the school closed in October 1969 Erma was transferred to Pulaski Elementary School where she worked until retirement in 2003. In 2006 Erma returned to the former Richland School, now Half-Shire Historical Society and again took over the kitchen, as well as general duties as chief curator of the collections. She was elected to the Half-Shire board of Trustees in 2007 and represents the Town of Richland on the board. Half-Shire covers twelve townships in Oswego, Oneida and Lewis Counties and is the largest historical society by membership in the region, focusing on family histories and general research. Erma also volunteers with Rural and Migrant Ministry in Richland, The Oswego County Fair Association, and countless other area groups that need an extra hand. She has hosted large events at Half-Shire for “Screen Free week” each winter break where children are encouraged to visit locations such as Half-Shire and local libraries for diversions that do not require a computer or television. Erma was particularly close to former neighbor and classmate Mary Rombach, and cared for her in her final years. Erma was married to the late Richard Schroeder. Together they had two children, Richard and Kathy. Richard Sr. died in September 2004. Their family has now grown to include nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, most of whom see Erma almost daily. In her free time Erma enjoys crochet, sewing and country dancing. She and Richard once had a camp in the north they spent considerable time at. In recent years she has travelled more frequently with friends and family. One memorable trip Erma took three years ago was an Alaskan cruise. Obituary of Erma Schroeder Erma R. Schroeder, age 72, life resident of Richland, passed away Monday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. Erma was born December 22, 1945 in Richland, the daughter of Harry and Mabel Barker Potter. She graduated from Pulaski High School in 1963. Erma was married to Richard A. Schroeder in 1964 and he passed away in 2004. Erma was employed by Pulaski Elementary School and Richland Elementary School as a cafeteria worker for 35 years, retiring in 2003. She was a board member and member of the Richland Half Shire Historical Society. Surviving are one daughter, Kathy (Jeff) Watson of Richland, one son Ritchie Schroeder of Fulton, companion, Dick Himes of Osceola, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Evelyn Masuicca of Pulaski and Shirley Purvis of Vero Beach, FL, one brother and Charles Potter of North Carolina. Erma was predeceased by three brothers, Robert, Terry and Fred. Nelson, age 67, resident of Sandy Creek, formerly of Stillwater, passed away Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. Anne resided in Stillwater in Herkimer County for 18 years before moving to Sandy Creek in 2013. She had previously lived in the Town of Albion and Parish. She was born October 23, 1946, in Syracuse, the daughter of Phillip and Darcy Davey Forbes. She graduated Pulaski High School in 1964. Anne married Harold Nelson on May 15, 1965. She was employed by the Stillwater Restaurant & Hotel for 18 years, retiring in 2013. She was previously employed by Oswego County BOCES and Fulton Boiler Works. Anne was a member of the Pulaski American Legion Auxiliary Robert Edward Post #358, and Christ Our Light Parish in Pulaski. Surviving are her husband Harold A. Nelson Sr., two sons, Harold A. (Jessica) Nelson Jr. of Pulaski and Douglas Nelson (Jeff Coyne) of Cicero, one daughter Valerie (William) Fowler of Sandy Creek, three brothers, Phillip Forbes of Virginia, Larry Forbes of Mexico and Clay Forbes of Central Square, two sisters, Nancy Hilton of Pulaski and Kathy Priest of Parish and seven grandchildren.
