Burial will be made in Daysville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today (Thursday) 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Surviving besides her husband are five sons, Nelson, James, Larry, Donald and Thomas all of Pulaski; four grandchildren; three brothers, George Wadsworth of Pulaski, Kelton Wadsworth of Chatham and Vincent Wadsworth of East Chatham, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Atkinson was born May 18, 1919, at East Chatham, the daughter of Dow and Anna Haynor Wadsworth. He was a member of the Maccabees for many years and served as Road Commissioner. Mr. Whitney's wife died just two weeks ago. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jerry Mattison, for whom the most sincere sympathy is expressed at losing both parents in so short a time. Other survivors are two brothers, John Whitney of Utica and Dee Whitney of Pineville, and other relatives. Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Mattison at 1 p.m. and at the Altmar M.E. church at 2 p.m. and were conducted by Rev. G.M. She was born July 18, 1887, in the Town of Amboy, the daughter of Charles and Esteloe Chambers Harris. She was married to Maurice W. Look, June 19, 1913 in Carlisle, Schoharie County. Mr. Look died Sept. 19, 1959. Mrs. Look was a member of the Williamstown Methodist Church and the Williamstown Grange. She was a graduate of Pulaski Training Class and taught for a number of years in rural schools of the area. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Leon Allen, Williamstown; a grandson; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; also one sister-in-law. He was born May 11, 1901, in Camden, son of Christian and Mina Obrist Fauser, and received his education here. He and Dorothy B. Conniff were married June 30, 1945, by the Rev. Harold J. Quinn. He was a member of the United Methodist Church; a 50-year member of the Volunteer Fire Co., and Rome BPO Elks Lodge. He served as village mayor 1949-51 and was elected supervisor in 1967. However, he resigned this position because of ill health. Mr. Fauser was president of the Friends of Forest Park, Inc., having been active in the organization since its founding a number of years ago. He was born April 18, 1886 in the Town of Amboy, son of William and Celia Brown Look. He married Nellie Harris on June 19, 1913, in Carlisle, N.Y. with the Rev. Welch officiating. Mr. Look lived in the Williamstown are his entire life and engaged in farming. He constructed all the buildings on his present farm. He was a member of the Williamstown Grange for more than 25 years, a member of the Dairymen's League, and attended the Williamstown Methodist Church. He was a member of Defiance Fire Company in Altmar for 45 years. He also umpired men and women’s softball leagues for the past 45 years. Dale enjoyed hunting and golfing. Rockel, 79, of Pond Hill concluded his journey in this life at 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2009, in the emergency room of Berwick Hospital Center after being stricken with a heart attack at his home. Born in Pond Hill on Sept. 14, 1929, he was a son of the late Hoyt and Selma T. Keiner Rockel. He started working at 14 with Clewell Dairy, Berwick. Later, he started Rockel's Garage, Pond Hill, with his late brother, Ira. Following Ira's death, he owned and operated it until 1980, now operated by his son. After retiring, he worked for PP&L until 1989. He also owned his own school bus company and drove for it. He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge; the Junior Mechanics; officer at the Falcon's; served as chief and assistant chief for 19 years for Pond Hill Fire Co, and was one of its founding members; Sporting Club, Mocanaqua; lieutenant for Pond Hill Fire Police; and enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. He joins a brother, Ira, who died on April 12, 1962; and sister, Dorothy Kellow, who died on July 19, 2006. Dale will be remembered by his wife, the former Shirley Rule, with whom he was married 55 years this past October; two children, Dale T. Rockel and wife, Jean, Pond Hill; Emil Carver, at home; two grandchildren, Melissa Kraus and husband, Douglas, North Carolina; Dale T. Rockel Jr. and wife, Tiffany, Wapwallopen; two great-grandchildren, Dale T. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Regina (Jean); his mother, Shirley; their children, Melissa and her husband, Douglas Krauss, and their children, Anna and Tyler, of Culpeper, Va.; Dale Jr. and his wife, Tiffany, and their children, Dale II, Levi and Garrett, of Pondhill; his brother, Emil Carver, of Pond Hill; brother-in-law, Joseph Horn, and nephew, Adam. | 8772 | Dan Mackessy of Fayetteville died peacefully in the arms of his wife. Dan Mackessy was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 26, 1924. His formative years were spent in St Patrick's Catholic School in (Chicago's Southside neighborhood) during the Great Depression. He had a five year scholarship at General Motor's School in Flint, Michigan for architecture when WWII broke out, and he left to serve his country in the Navy in the Pacific theatre, where he was trained as an amphibious diesel mechanic as well as an electrician. He served in 8 of the 9 major naval landings of WWII at places such as Bougainville, Guadalcanal, Okinawa and the Philippines. After the war he returned home and worked as a Union IBEW Electrician, and he went to work for Santay Plastics in Chicago, working his way up in the company to the Eastern General Manager. Dan opened up a Plastic molding plant in Syracuse, NY. In 1962, Dan bought out Santay Plastics to open his own injection molding factory called Glomac Plastics at 432 North Franklin Street in Syracuse. At the time, Glomac Plastics had the largest injection molding equipment in New York State. Back then, Dan was a member of the board of directors of the CNY Chapter of the Society of Plastic Engineers. Dan retired from Glomac in 1994 and was a 70 year member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union). Dan did his best to enjoy his life to the fullest. He worked hard and played hard. Whether it was running multiple businesses that he owned or pursuing his hobbies, he always tackled every endeavor with an enduring relentlessness that was insatiable until he had achieved what he'd set out to accomplish. He wore many hats throughout his life. He was an avid skier and certified professional ski instructor, sailor, real estate investor and landlord, road bicyclist and airplane pilot, manufacturing consultant and author. Dan had a black belt in judo from the Judo Black Belt Federation (Chicago Judo Yudanshakai). Those who knew Dan can attest to the determination he had to master whatever problem he confronted. Whether he was battling a broken molding machine, or recognizing and correcting various business challenges, or battling any of the three cancers he had, he was always willing to share his experience with others who could benefit from his knowledge and insight. Dan was a volunteer and supported the American Cancer Society's Man to Man Support Group and Upstate's Men to Men Prostate Cancer Support Group for over 20 years. He was a facilitator for Man to Man 2002-2013. Dan was especially passionate about helping men dealing with prostate cancer. Dan is predeceased by his father, James Mackessy; mother, Mary Mackessy; an infant brother, Frank Mackessy; and his first wife Gloria Mackessy. Dan is survived by his wife, Joyce (Smith) Mackessy; sons, James Mackessy (wife Lori) and Edward Mackessy (wife Caroline); grandchildren, Daniel Mackessy, Donald Mackessy, Josiah Mackessy, James Mackessy, Edward Mackessy, Jacob Mackessy, and Kelly Maloney Kupferer; and great-grandchildren, Leland Mackessy, Caleb Mackessy, Conor Kupferer, and Charlotte Mackessy and Edward Mackessy. The family wishes to thank all those who knew Dan and for being part of his life. He proudly leaves an amazing legacy of love and support for his friends and family. Dan lived a full life. He spent his childhood in the Utica area and moved to Sandy Creek in the 1950's. He married Kathleen J. Quinn who died in 1974. He married the late Madge Yelle Paye in 1976 and they resided in Pulaski for many years. Dana was a member of Carpenter's Local 747 and later Local 277. He was a lifetime member of the Sandy Creek Fire Dept., he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lacona Fire Dept. He is survived by his three children, Mark J. Paye, Pulaski, Kelly (James) DeVaul and Kathleen Richards, both of North Syracuse. He was educated in the Wilkes-Barre area schools and was a graduate of Coughlin High School, class of 1941. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, enlisting in the Navy in February 1942. He served aboard the USS Agenor, seeing action throughout the Pacific Theater. He received numerous medals, ribbons and citations for his combat actions on this ship. He was discharged in December, 1945 with the rank of Machinist Mate First Class. He was employed as a miner at the Pine Ridge Colliery. He was later employed as a postal clerk by the U.S. Post Office, Wilkes-Barre, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Plains American Legion, Post 558, Plains. He was also a member of the American Postal Workers Union. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Plains, where he served as a sextant and lector. He is preceded in death by brothers, John, Joseph, Frank, Ted and Chester; sisters, Jennie and Verna. He is survived by his wife, the former Charlotte Skillinge, who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 8, 2008. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Daniel, Wilkes-Barre; and Ronald and his wife, Shirley, of Plains; daughter, Cathie, Plains; granddaughters, Danielle, Michelle and Katie; sister, Irene Martin, Wilkes-Barre; numerous nieces and nephews; his beloved dog Daisy. Born on July 25, 1953 in Olean, son of Jeremiah and Helen Marie Rott Moriarty, he graduated from Franklinville's Ten Broeck Academy in 1971 and earned his bachelor's degree from SUNY Fredonia. After serving in the United States Air Force from 1973 until 1975, Dan earned his master's degree in literature at Syracuse University. For 28 years he was a devoted teacher of English at Pulaski High School, where he left a deep and lasting impression on many of his students. He and Mary Lu married on August 7, 1987. After retiring in 2008, he pursued his passion for reading and writing by earning a Masters of Fine Arts degree at the creative writing program of Syracuse University, and by teaching there and as an adjunct professor at Cayuga Community College and Keuka College. He was a member of Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Pulaski. Also surviving are one brother, Jeremiah Moriarty of Allegheny, NY, one sister, Mary Ellen Moriarty of Buffalo, a large family of in-laws, and his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly. Daniel was pre-deceased by a sister, Karen Moriarty, a brother, Thomas Moriarty, and a nephew Timothy Stout. Daniel was a dedicated employee of Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes for 20 years. Daniel is survived by his spouse, Alex Klebs, his sisters Miranda Roe and her family, Jimmy, Jon, Jordan, and Sherry Klebs and her family, Mike and Vanessa, his mother Marianne Balcom, his Uncle Norman Balcom, his cousin Chris Klebs, and his father Douglas Klebs. Daniel enjoyed gaming, music, and history. He will be remembered for his love for friends and family nationwide, and his special furry friend Rocko. An intimate service in Daniel's memory will be held in the fall of 2023 at Lake Ontario for immediate family. Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 3, 1975 Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Man, 80, Fatally Stricken Umpiring in Little League - Daniel L. Ostrander, 80, 7700 Port Street, Pulaski, died Wednesday night enroute to the House of the Good Samaritan in Watertown. He was suddenly stricken while umpiring a Little League baseball game in Pulaski. Born December 20, 1894, in the Town of Hounsfield, Jefferson County, the son of Charles and Carrie Gaylord Ostrander. He attended Redfield schools. Mr. Ostrander came to the Pulaski area as a young man. He married Nettie LeBeau on December 15, 1915. He was employed in Syracuse as a streetcar conductor, and later was engaged in fanning in the Pulaski area. Mr. Ostrander was then employed by the Ontario Ironworks in Pulaski. He retired in 1961 after 30 years of service. He was employed summers in the Selkirk State Park until 1974. Mr. Ostrander was an ardent baseball fan, having played baseball for a number of years with the Pulaski Panthers in the old Post Standard League. For many years he was very involved in Little League baseball. He was a retired volunteer of the Ringgold Fire Department having served 27 years with the group. He was president of the department for two years and assistant chief for one year. He was a member of the Pulaski Baptist Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nettie Ostrander; two sons, Frank of Caughdenoy; Kenneth of Pulaski; three daughters, Mrs. Bemarh (Ruth) Welle of Yonkers; Mrs. Richard (Jane) Barney of Brooklyn; Mrs. Fred (Dorothy) Endsley of Pulaski. A son, Robert, died in infancy. One brother, Kenneth Ostrander of Camden; and 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Foster-Hax Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Miller of the Pulaski Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at South Richland Cemetery at Fernwood. Daniel was born May 24, 1988, in Watertown, the son of David Janack, Sr. and Joanne Cronk Janack. He graduated from APW High School in 2006. Danny had been working at the Home Depot in Watertown for the last year. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed construction work and building things. Danny was a devoted father to his two sons. Daly, 63, who was stricken with a heart attack in Jefferson street shortly before noon Monday, died at his home in Rome street Tuesday afternoon. He was born at Sandy Creek May 10, 1883, son of the late Frank Daly and Mrs. Catherine McGuire Daly. He spent most of his life in Pulaski and vicinity. He was employed by the village of Pulaski, the state highway department and the New York Central railroad, but when taken ill was in the employ of the Baird Tool Company, Pulaski. He was a member of St. John's church and the Holy Name society of that church. Members of the society will meet at Mr. Daly's home this evening at 8 o'clock for recitation of the Rosary. Surviving are his mother, his wife, Mrs. Lena Daly; a step-son, William Obleman; a grandson, William Obleman Jr.; one sister, Mrs. Nora Robbins, Syracuse, and five brothers, Henry, Liverpool, William and Florian, Syracuse, Earl, Morristown and Glen A. He previously had worked for Gypsum Express. Dan was a “movie-buff” and a Buffalo Bills fan. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 2001.
