  • Notes
    • Harriet Sweet married George Samson sometime before 1853, and they attended George’s nephew’s (Mason S Samson) wedding to Nancy Philinda Jones, which took place in Pooleville, Hamilton County, New York, on January 6, 1853.

Nancy Jones Samson and Harriet Sweet Samson Philbrick remained life long friends, as indicated by Harriet’s Affidavit from 1886.

Something happened to George between June of 1853 and the NY State Census of June 13, 1855, and his family was scattered across the Richland and Sandy Creek communities, living in 3 separate households, according to the 1860 US Census.

They come back together sometime before the 1865 New York State Census. In that census, Emma Georgette, age 11, and Frank Edwin, age 9, are once again living with their mother Harriet, and her second husband, William Philbrick (abt Mar 1840 - Jan 7 1901), in Sandy Creek, New York.
