Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, March 24, 1949 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Services Held For J. E. Manwaring - Last rites for John E. Manwaring, 78, who died at his home in Daysville, Friday, were held from the family home, Sunday at 2 p.m. Rev. James N. Pauley, pastor of the Pulaski Methodist church, officiated and interment was made in the Willis cemetery. Bearers included old neighbors of Mr. Manwaring, who were: Allan North, Fred North, Arnold and Donald Manwaring, Archie VanArsdale and Floyd Ells. Mr. Manwaring had been in failing health for the past several months, but had been about his usual chores until a few days before his death. Last October he suffered injuries when a barn door fell on him, when he required hospitalization for several weeks, but from which he apparently recovered. He was born in Daysville February 2, 1781 on the family homestead where he had always lived, the son of James and Alfreda Nichols Manwaring. He had engaged in farming all his life, and was a member of the Daysville grange and of the Daysville Methodist church. He was married to Miss Maude Parker at Texas, June 30, 1890. Mrs. Manwaring died May 6, 1937. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Filsinger of Syracuse; four sons, Walter and Willard of Pulaski, Clark of Massena and Richard of Syracuse; a sister, Mrs. Lulu Brown, Mexico; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
