- Newspaper Obituary - Sunday, September 29, 1963 Utica Dispatch - Mrs. Katherine Russell - Frankfort - Mrs. Katherine E. Russell, 55, of 231 Main St., a nurse at Ilion Hospital for many years, died yesterday in the hospital. Mrs. Russell was born in Ilion, daughter of John and Ernestine Neuner Phillips, and was married to Chester Russell in 1931. Mr. Russell died in 1945. Mrs. Russell was a graduate of St. Luke's Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was past president of the North Stree School PTA and the Frankfort American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Russell was also a member of the Nurse's Association and the First Presbyterian Church. Besides her mother, she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Nancy) Rowland, with whom she lived; a sister, Mrs. Elvin (Mary) Fay and two brothers, Earl and Fred, all of Ilion. The funeral will be at 1:30 tomorrow from the Applegate Funeral Home with the Rev. Maurice Mitchell, First Presbyterian Church pastor, and the Rev. Arthur Lacey, First Presbyterian Baptist Church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Armory Hill Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today.
