    • Newspaper Obituary - November 7, 2012 Times Leader -Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania - Jessie E. Beckerman - Jessie E. Beckerman, 77, of New Grove St., Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Nov. 4, 2012, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital after a prolonged illness.She was born June 11, 1935, in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of the late Albert and Esther Garinger Armitage. She lived most of her life in the Back Mountain areas of Harveys Lake and Trucksville, with time spent in North Wales, Pa. to be close to her family.Graduating from Lake-Noxen Joint High School in 1953, she chose a career in nursing. She was a proud graduate of the Nesbitt Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1956. Her motto was "Once a nurse, always a nurse." She spent her entire career at NMH, retiring in the 1990s. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Orin R. Beckerman, and infant son, Jamie. Surviving are her daughter, Brenda Navin; son-in-law, Michael; and beloved granddaughter and best friend, Rebecca. Mom chose to be cremated. We will celebrate her life with a 4 p.m. memorial service and dinner on Sunday at Trucksville United Methodist Church, 17 W. Church Road, Trucksville. She wasn't one for black or dark days, so come in your most colorful attire. Children are welcome. To honor her memory, partake in some of the things she loved, buy flowers to plant in your garden, help a neighbor or take time to listen to your favorite music.
