    • Online Obituary - James “Poppy” Armitage, 86, of Franklin formerly of Medway, died October 28 in Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the loving husband of the late Terry (Crisp) Armitage who died in 2007. Born in Buffalo, New York, December 11, 1927, the son of the late Leroy and Mary (Evans) Armitage. Mr. Armitage was raised in Buffalo and had lived in Medway for 33 years prior to moving to Franklin six years ago. Mr. Armitage had been a cost estimator for GTE Government Systems for 43 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Anglican Church of the Redeemer in Franklin. Mr. Armitage was a member of the Charles River Masonic Lodge AF& AM, and the Church Small Group at the Church of the Redeemer. Jim enjoyed his card groups, church small groups, and his lunch buddies. Mr. Armitage served in the Army during World War II in occupied Japan. He is survived by his son James W. Armitage of Franklin and his daughter Mary Jo Yasutovich and her husband Alan of Franklin. He is also survived by his sister Marilea Meyers and brother-in-law Frank of Tonawanda, New York. He was the brother of the late Leroy Armitage, Lee Armitage, Dolores Armitage, Shirley White and Jack Armitage. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stacey, Bradley, Timothy and Rachael and his great-grandchildren, Moriah and Ayla. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 1, in the Anglican Church of the Redeemer, 31 Hayward Street, Franklin at 5:00p.m. Burial will be private in Oakland Cemetery, Medway. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-7 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway.
