- Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, August 9, 1956 Pulaski Democrat - Rites Held for W. L. Whitford - William L. Whitford, 39, died Sunday at 3 a.m. in the Potsdam Hospital where he had been a patient only two days. Death was due to bronchial pnuemonia. Mr. Whitford was a master mechanic on the construction job on the seaway project at Massena, and was living with his family at Winthrop, near Ogdensburg for the summer. Funeral services were held from the Foster Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. W. Russell Clark, pastor of the Park Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in Sandy Creek Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Miss Freda Whitford; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Whitford of Pulaski; three children, Brenda, Marsha and Jon; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Gillan of Camillus and Mrs. Viola Fuller of Liverpool. Mr. Whitford was born in Pulaski Dec. 16, 1916, the son of Howard and Bertha Lohnis Whitford. He attended the local schools and was married to Miss Freda Kilburne in 1938. He was a veteran of Word War II and has worked construction since 1936.
