- Newspaper Obituary - August 9, 2005 Eureka Times-Standard - Rosetta Margretta Briody - Rosetta Briody, 77, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2005, in her Arcata home with her family at her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Rosetta was a very warm, loving and thoughtful person and her family was her life. Rosetta is survived by her sister, Sarah Miller of Palm Springs, CA; her brother, Jeff Wise of San Leandro; and her three children, son Gary Horn and wife Ellen of Florida, son Glen Horn and wife Stephanie of La Grange, CA, and daughter Janice Hewitt and husband Bill of Redding, CA. Grandchildren include: Brandi Shipman, Jason Hewitt, Shannon Valdez, David Horn, Justine, Elan and Elsha Horn, and six great grandchildren that brought her a lot of joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Mildred Wise; and her sister, Jean. The family would like to thank Dr. Garcia and his wife, Chris and Hospice, especially Julie Thomas for their compassionate care they gave to mom during her final days. No services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and Hospice of Eureka. Arrangements were under the direction of Paul’s Chapel, Arcata, CA.
