Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, August 15, 2002 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Bruce M. Ebert, New York Telephone Retiree - Bruce M. Ebert, 81, of 319 Valley Road, Fernwood, died Wednesday in St. Luke's Nursing Home, Oswego. Mr. Ebert was employed in Oswego by New York Telephone Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1983. He lived for 50 years in Fernwood and had previously lived in Syracuse. He was a member of Fernwood United Methodist Church and New York Telephone Pioneers Club. Born September 29, 1920, in Cardiff, son of Mathias and Della Youngs Ebert, he graduated from Fairmount High School in 1938 and served in the Army from 1942 to 1945. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He married Monica Williams on June 1, 1946. Surviving besides his wife are a son, David B., Chittenango; two daughters, Susan J. Murray and Dawn M. Holynski, both of Fernwood; a sister, Marana "Ida" White, Syracuse, and eight grandchildren. A sister, Thelma Clark, died before him. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Foster-Flax Funeral Home with the Rev. Leo Sidman officiating. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
