- Newspaper Obituary - November 29, 1992 Syracuse Herald American - Richard H. Ladd Sr., 57, of 3726 Patchett Road, Baldwinsville, died Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center after an extended illness. Born in Syracuse, Mr. Ladd lived in the North Syracuse area for 18 years before moving to Baldwinsville seven years ago. He was the owner and operator of Dick's Transmission Shops Ltd. in Syracuse for 36 years. He was a past member of the Solvay Moose Lodge and Liverpool Elks lodge. He was a licensed pilot and a member of the Central New York Pilot Association and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Surviving are his wife of 24 years, the former Barbara J. Besaw; three daughters, Darlene A. Sherman and Donna Jean Manford, both of Hannibal, and Diana L. Laris of Cleveland; two sons, Richard Jr. of Hannibal and Daniel T. of Clay; his father, Burdett R. of Lincolnton, N.C.; two sisters, Maud L. Waldon of Pickens, S.C., and Burdetta E. Trotta of Lincolnton, N.C.; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be Tuesday at a time to be announced. Burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Maurer Funeral Home, 3541 Route 31, Baldwinsville. Contributions may be made to the Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps.
