Joan M. Briggs, 68, of 92 Maltby Road, died Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, Syracuse.
Mrs. Briggs worked as a registered nurse at Menorah Park, Syracuse, formerly known as the Jewish Home.
Born May 26, 1937, in Heuvelton, daughter of Orson and Bernice McQuade Goulden, she graduated as valedictorian of her class from Heuvelton High School and from Jefferson Community College, Watertown, where she received a degree in registered nursing.
A marriage to James Ladouceur ended in divorce. She later married Keith Briggs. He died May 3, 2001.
Surviving besides her mother, Bernice VanPatten, are two daughters and a son-in-law, Laurie and John Blauvelt and Lynn Felio; a son and his wife, Clay "Cletus" and Beth Ladouceur; a sister, Patty Hanifan, five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A daughter, Sheila Marie "Shelley" Ladouceur, died of leukemia at age 4 on Sept. 14, 1965.
The funeral and burial will be private. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek.

Saturday at St. Joseph's Health Center, Syracuse. Born May 26, 1937, in
Heuvelton, NY, daughter of Orson and Bernice McQuade Goulden, she graduated as
Valedictorian of her class at Heuvelton High School, and earned her RN degree
from Jefferson Community College. She was married to Keith Briggs, who died
May 3, 2001. She was employed by Menorah Park, formerly The Jewish Home, in
Syracuse. A daughter, Shelley, predeceased her. Survivors: two daughters,
Laurie (John) Blauvelt and Lynn Felio; one son, Clay (Beth) Ladouceur; her
mother, Bernice VanPatten; sister, Patty Hanifan; five grandchildren and one
great-grandchild. Private services and burial. No calling hours. Arrangements
by Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek.
