- Newspaper Obituary - October 18, 1963 Syracuse Post Standard - William H. Hilborn - Phoenix - William H. Hilborn, 79, of 208 Church St., died Thursday in Community Hospital in Syracuse after a short illness. He had been a patient one day. Mr. Hilborn was born in Jasper and was a retired civil engineer for the State of New York. He retired two years ago and had resided in Phoenix most of his life with the exception of a year in Iowa and in West Virginia for a short time. He was a graduate of Cornell, Class of 1909, and was a member of Callimachus Lodge 369, F&AM, and was a 50 year Mason. He was former treasurer of the Board of Education in Phoenix and was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Vivian McGann Hilborn; two sons, Edwin J. Hilborn, Honoques, N.J., and Allen C. Hilborn of Lancaster, Pa.; four grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Allson Glanville Tappan Funeral Home. The Rev. Morgan C. Silbaugh, pastor of St. John's Church, will officiate and burial will be in Chase Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m Saturday at the funeral home. Contributions to the memorial fund of the church are requested in lieu of flowers.
