- Newspaper Obituary - December 6, 2011 Post Standard - Dawne E. Finn - December 2, 2011 - Dawne E. Finn, 80, formerly of Frances St., Canastota, died Friday evening, December 2, 2011, in the Extended Care Facility of the Oneida Healthcare Center, where she had been a resident for the past three months. Born in Phoenix, on April 15, 1931, she was the daughter of George and Jessie Ure Merrill. A resident of Canastota for the past 56 years, Dawne was a graduate of Phoenix High School. She married Edward "Jack" Finn in Phoenix on February 14, 1953. Jack died on July 17, 1986. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Finn was employed with the Madison County Department of Social Services as an examiner and was previously employed with the Canastota Schools as a teaching assistant and the Oneida City Hospital PCAP Clinic as a receptionist. Surviving are two daughters and two sons-in-law, Christine and Stephen Garneau of Durhamville and Elizabeth "Beth" Henderson of Canastota; two sons, Stephen E. Finn and his partner, James Durkel of Austin, Texas and Thomas M. and his wife, Deborah Finn of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren, Rebecca, Collin, Lindsay and Ashley; three great-grandchildren, Caidan, Stephen and Trystan; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Donald and Roni Merrill of Port Orange, Florida, Dan and Sandy Merrill of Billerica, Massachusetts and Dennis Merrill of Raleigh, North Carolina. Funeral services will be held from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 300 South Peterboro Street, Canastota, at a date and time to be announced in the Spring of 2012. Spring interment will be made in Chase Cemetery, Town of Lysander.
