- OGDENSBURG MAN JOSEPH L. DENNY DIES IN HOSPITAL AT 80 YEARS OLD

Joseph L. Denny, 80, of 511 Albany Ave., a native of Ogdensburg, died Wednesday evening in A. Barton Hepburn Hospital.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Steven Gratto officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with McLellan Funeral Home.
Contributions may be made to the Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Surviving are a son, Joseph P., Atlanta, Ga., former Ogdensburg mayor; a daughter, Martha E. Kirby, Apalachin; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Caloren and Leona Denny, both of Ogdensburg, and several nieces and nephews.
A sister, Anna, and several brothers, died previously.
Born in Ogdensburg on Oct. 4, 1909, a son of Archie and Bertha Davis Denny, he was educated in local schools.
He married Marguerite Hynes June 20, 1938, at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Edward Burns officiating. She died Aug. 13, 1989.
Mr. Denny was employed at Prudential Life Insurance Co. for many years.
He was a life member of Elks Lodge 772, Ogdensburg, and a communicant of St. Mary's Cathedral.
