    • Obituary:
      Howard K. Taber, husband of Mrs. Gertrude Chappel Taber of 20 Camp Street, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 10, 1986 at Auburn Memorial Hospital.

      Born in Lancaster, N.Y., he had been a resident of Camp Street for 50 years. he retired in 1970 from ALCO Power, Inc. where he was a superintendent in the power plant for 45 years. Mr. Taber was a member of the United Church of Auburn, the Masonic Lodge No. 124 F. & A.M., the Barbershop Quartet, The Bells & Bows and the Old Time Fiddlers Association. He was a former member of the Oddfellows of Auburn.

      Surviving besides his wife are; one son, Kenneth C. Taber of Springfield. Pa.; three granddaughters, Jill, Jennifer and Rebecca Taber of Springfield; five sisters, Mrs. Helen Titus of Yacaipa, Calif., Mrs. Adabelle Clark of Flordia, Mrs. Frances Chilson of Auburn, Mrs. Betty Gasparro of Auburn and Mrs. Bessann Ryan of Montclair, Calif.; two brothers Daniel Taber of Owasco and Harrison Taber of Syracuse.

      Funeral serves for Mr. Taber will be Sunday, December 14, 1986, at 2 p.m. at the Langham Funeral Home, 91 East Genesee St. Rev. Todd Putney, pastor of the United Church of Auburn and Rev. Alfred Herman will officiate. Burial will be in Soule Cemetery.

      Calling hours at the funeral home will be Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

      In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the United Church of Auburn in Mr. Taber's memory.
