Mrs. Katherine Taber
Auburn - Funeral services were held on Fri., March 23, at 8:30 a.m. at the Farrell Funeral Home with a concelebrated Mass of the Resurrection offered at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church for Mrs. Katherine Taber, 56, of 115 Lake Ave., who died early Tues. morning of carbon monoxide poisoning and third degrees burns when a fire swept through the family home.
Mrs. Taber's husband, Cleophas, sustained second degree burns over 45 per cent of his body and is in poor condition at St. Joseph's Hospital Intensive Care Burn Treatment Center, Syracuse.
Mrs. Taber was born in Syracuse, the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Gaffney Walsh and had lived in Auburn for 32 years.
Mrs. Taber was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, was a member of John F. Kennedy Division 1 Ancient Order of Hibernians Auxiliary; served as treasurer of AOH Co. Board and was chairman of Catholic Action Committee of Division 1; a member of the Home Bureau and Auburn Golf and Country Club.
Surviving besides her husband are a son, James A. Taber of Weedsport, a member of the New York State Police stationed in Auburn; a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Kathy) Parlin of Auburn; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Jane) Murphy of Syracuse; three brothers, Robert J. of Wolcott, William of Fayetteville and Charles P. Walsh of East Syracuse; nieces and nephews.
Vigil services were held at 7:15 p.m. Thurs. and members of the Auxiliary of the AOH met at 8 p.m. for services.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
