Newspaper Obituary - February 05, 1927 Republican Journal - Ogdensburg, New York - Funeral Of Wm. J. Denny Sunday At 2 - Services to Be Conducted by Rev. L. P. Franklin at Family Home - The funeral of William J. Denny, 49, who died at the Hepburn hospital at 11 o’clock Thursday night, will be held at the family home, 825 Ford avenue, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Lewis P. Franklin, acting rector of St. John’s church, will officiate. The body will be place in the vault at the Ogdensburg cemetery. Mr. Denny was taken to the hospital last week to undergo an operation for abscess under his knee, which had given him great pain. He was making good progress toward recovery when pneumonia developed and this was the cause of his death. Mr. Denny was employed as foreman at the Ogdensburg Pulp wood terminal the past fourteen years and was highly regarded by his employers, who paid a tribute to his ability and faithfulness to duty. He was a man of great physical strength and could perform unusual feats of endurance. A few years ago he was buried under a mass of falling logs and when extricated, insisted on returning to work. He remained on the job for several hours and when examined by a physician was found to have three fractured ribs. Mr. Denny held the esteem and confidence of his employers and the men whom he directed and all joined in expressions of sincere sorrow on his death. Mr. Denny was born in Oswego, a son of the late Benjamin Denny, and came to Ogdensburg in his youth. He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Percy Robinson and Mrs. Clara Beldock; two sons, Howard and Theodore, all of Ogdensburg; three brothers, Grant, Joseph and Frank of Oswego, and three sisters, Mrs. Marion Streeter, Mrs. Stephen Filardeau of Syracuse and Mrs. Archie Denny, of Ogdensburg.
