Edwin G. Near, age 80, resident of Baldwinsville since 1963, passed Monday at Crouse Irving Hospital, Syracuse. Edwin was born September 14, 1931, in Altmar. He married Carol Masuicca on July 10, 1954. Ed was employed by Crouse Hinds in Syracuse for 32 years, retiring in 1994. He was recently employed by Ace Hardware in Baldwinsville. He also worked at the Kallet Theater in Pulaski. Ed was a former member of the Seneca River and Richland Volunteer Fire Departments.
Survivors: wife Carol; three brothers, Earl Near of Lakeland, FL, H. Richard Fitzgerald of Pennellville and Larry Fitzgerald of Baldwinsville; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Mapleview Cemetery in Dugway.
