- Short Illness Fatal To J. Ridgeway
John W. Ridgeway, Jr., 43, died at his home in Bridge St. Tuesday morning following an illness of less than a week.
Funeral services will be held at the Taylor Funeral Home Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Adelbert Edwards of Pine Meadows will officiate. Interment will be in Pulaski Cemetery.
Calling hours Friday are 2 to 4 and 7 to
9 p. m.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Arlene White Ridgeway; a daughter, Jacqueline and a son, James; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ridgeway of Lacona; five sisters, Mrs. Winifred Barrington of Liverpool, Mrs. Nellie Giddings of Thendara, Mrs. Agnes Tyfair of Lacona Miss Clara Ridgeway of Clifton Springs, Mrs. Margaret Potish of Pulaski; five brothers, Lloyd, Lyle and Lawrence Ridgeway of Syracuse, Capt. Paul Ridgeway in Germany, and Aaron Ridgeway of Brewerton; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ridgeway was born in the Town of Sandy Creek, Dec. 2, 1913 the son of John and Anna Daly Ridgeway. He had lived in Pulaski the past 10 years and was employed as a construction superintendent for the Dygert Construction Co., in Syracuse.
He was a veteran of World War II where he served as an aerial gunner in the European Theatre of Operations, with a rating of Staff Sergeant. He saw considerable action in service, receiving several commendable decorations and citations including the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters; the E.T.O. ribbon with four Bronze Stars and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
He attended the Park Methodist Church; was a member of Robert Edwards Post 358, American Legion and of the V.F.W. of Lacona
