Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, April 12, 1978 Palladium-Times - Oswego, New York - Pulaski - Mrs. Laura M. Sharp, 88, 7621 Rome Street, died this morning in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, after she was admitted last night. Born February 22, 1890, at Middlesex, she was the daughter of Harry and Harriette Elwell Mack. She graduated from Keuka High School in 1909 and from Syracuse University in 1914. She moved to Pulaski to teach in the fall of 1914. She married William T. Sharp May 26, 1917. Mr. Sharp died November 14, 1957. Mrs. Sharp taught science in the Pulaski Academy High School for 48 years, retiring in June of 1962. She was a member of the Park United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was also a member of the Pulaski Civic Club. She was the first woman named by the Junior Civil League as woman of the year in 1965. She was also honored in June of 1975 when the Pulaski Elementary School was named for her. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Minnie M Thomas and Mrs. Eleanor Fishes of Rushville. Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday in the Park United Methodist Church, the Rev. Dolan Morris, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Pulaski. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home in Pulaski.
