- Newspaper Obituary - June 15, 1967 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Funeral Is Held For Mrs. Byrns - Mrs. Minnie Barber Byrns, widow of Francis Byrns, for many years a resident of the Smartville road, Lacona died June 9, 1967 in the Evergreens Nursing home, Mannsville. Her funeral was held Sunday at 2 p.m., at the Cleveland funeral home, Sandy Creek, with Rev. Adelbert Edwards, pastor of Pine Meadows Wesleyan Methodist church, and Rev. Ray Rowley, pastor of Sandy Creek Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Wesleyan Cemetery, Lacona. Mrs. Byrns was born in the town of Redfield Aug. 1, 1890, a daughter of Erwin and Anna Joyner Barber. She was married to Francis Byrns Oct. 25, 1909. He died Dec. 19, 1954. She was for several years Boylston Town Clerk and was formerly a member of Rising Sun Grange, Boylston. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Alice) Samson, Lacona; two sons, Gilbert, Lacona, and Lawrence, Sandy Creek; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edwin Barber, Richland and Milton Barber, Altmar; and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Ridgeway, Baldwinsville and Mrs. Rose Brennan, Orwell. She leaves five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
