    • Newspaper Obituary - December 23, 1954 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Francis Byns, 73 Dies In Boylston - Francis D. Byrns, 73 died Sunday morning, December 19, 1954 at his home in Smartville. He had been in failing health for the last ten years. Born September 22, 1881 in Boylston, he was the son of John and Katherine Daly Byrns. He spent his entire life in Boylston, working as a lumberman in his younger days while for the last 34 years he had engaged in farming. He was a member of Rising Sun Grange of Boylston. Mr. Byrns was married October 25, 1909 in Pulaski to Miss Minnie Barber of Redfield. Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Alice) Samson of Lacona; two sons, Gilbert and Lawrence, both of Lacona; a sister, Mrs. Louis (Alice) LaTant of Lacona and five grandchildren. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Weston & Woodard funeral home in Sandy Creek, with the Rev. Leland Webster, pastor of Sandy Creek Methodist church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Adelbert Edwards, pastor of the Boylston Wesleyan church. Burial will be in Wesleyan cemetery in the spring.
