Hugh R. Reynolds, 73, Lead Mine Road, died Friday at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Reynolds worked on the family farm for a year and served in the Army, participating in the Berlin Air Lift after World War II. He was discharged from the Army in 1952 and worked at Timmerman Farms, LaFargeville, for five years, and at St. Joseph Lead Co., Gouverneur, and was a carpenter through Carpenters Union Local 278, Watertown, for 30 years.
Born June 11, 1929, in Pulaski, son of Homer and Beulah Hilton Reynolds, he attended schools in Gouverneur. He married Ardis R. Conklin on Sept. 20, 1952, at the United Methodist Church, Gouverneur, with the Rev. Stanley E. Brown officiating. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons and their wives, Robert and Loralee, Hermon, and Randy and Rebecca, Hammond; three daughters, Helen and her husband, Douglas Gray, Long Sault, Ontario, Rose Reynolds and her fiancee, Roger Bailey, Potsdam, and Sue Wiley, Gouverneur; three brothers, Randolph "Bud" Youngs, Richville, Lynn Youngs, Rossie, and Wiley Youngs, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Douglas (Alice) Weldon and Mrs. Ivan (Joan) Kinney, both of Gouverneur, Mrs. Leo (Lona) Rastley, Rossie, and Mrs. John (Wanda) Bailey, Oriskany, 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Three brothers, Clifford L. and Bruce Youngs and Wallace Reynolds, and a granddaughter died before him.
There will be no funeral. The body will be cremated.
There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa.
