- Newspaper Obituary - August 23, 2015 Syracuse Post Standard - Mildred Guernsey "Millie" Allen - August 16, 2015 - Millie G. Allen, 92, lifetime Phoenix, NY, resident, passed away Sunday at Morning Star Care Center, Oswego, NY. Born in Hinmansville on February 17, 1923 to her late parents, Sarah (Corey) and Arthur Guernsey. A graduate of Phoenix High. A fine artist for Syracuse China Corp., she hand painted various designs on thousands of pieces of china. Her late husband, Harry of 60 years, and she were one of the 200 charter members of Beaver Meadows Golf Club, established in 1965, Phoenix. She attended 1st Congregational, UCC. Predeceased by her late husband, Harry, on March 30, 2002; her sister, Eva Pearson, on May 25, 2009; her brothers, Ike and Gilbert Guernsey. Surviving are her sisters, Norma Gwilt of Homosass, FL, and Evelyn Smith of Sandridge; several nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. Calling hours are from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, August 29, followed by a service at noon with Pastor Karen Marshall officiating, all in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix, NY. Burial to follow in Phoenix Rural Cemetery. Contributions in lieu of flowers to American Diabetes Assoc. or American Cancer Society.
