- Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 16, 1959 Mexico Independent & Parish Mirror - Lewis J. Murray - Services for Lewis J. Murray, 38, of 1104 Wescott St., Syracuse were at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the Furman Street Methodist Church, the Rev. Barber L. Walters officiating. Mr. Murray died Thursday in Memorial Hospital from injuries received when he fell 30 feet into the basement of a house on Maple Dr., DeWitt, while he was working. He suffered a fractured skull, a compound fractor of the right leg and other injuries. A native of Fernwood, Mr. Murray lived in Syracuse for 15 years and was employed by the Clinton E. Murray Construction Co. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army Quartermaster Corps in the European theater. He was a member of the Furman Street Methodist Church and of its official board. Surviving are his wife, Margaret; three sons, Robert J, Richard L. and William A. Murray; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Murray of Fernwood; four brothers, Clinton E. of New Woodstock, George I and C. Grant of Fernwood and Robert R. Murray of Mexico, and a sister, Mrs. Charlotte Row of Fernwood.
