- Newspaper Obituary - September 25, 1974 Syracuse Post Standard - J. L. Wilder Dies at 72 - Pulaski - John L. Wilder, 72, Seber Shores, died Tuesday at Community General Hospital, where he had been a patient one week. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Rev. Edwin A. Potter of the Park Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Arvilla Wilder; two daughters, Irene, Seber Shores, and Mrs. Nancy Warren, Sumter, South Carolina; two sons, John and William, Syracuse; four sisters, Mrs. Florence Montondo, Mrs. Beatrice Thomas, and Mrs. Helen Grinell, of Pulaski, and Miss Geraldine Wilder, Schenectady; four brothers, Thomas, Charles, Robert and Lemuel, of Pulaski, and seven grandchildren. Born February 15, 1902 in Pulaski, a son of Thomas and Bertha Coon Wilder, he married Arvilla Bush July 2, 1922 at Pierrepont Manor. The couple lived in Sandy Creek and moved to Pulaski in 1940. Mr. Wilder was a construction foreman for General Telephone 42 years and retired in 1964. They had spent winters in St. Petersburg, Florida since Mr. Wilder's retirement.
