Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 24, 1997 The Post-Standard - Syracuse, New York - Allen E. Smith, 88, of 44 Mason Road died Wednesday at his home. He was born in Parma and lived most of his life in Mexico. He attended Lycoming United Methodist Church. Mr. Smith was a mechanic for the Oswego County Highway Department. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Ruby Ivens; three daughters, Eleanor L. Denny and Nancy A. Denny, both of Oswego, and Linda L. Jessmore of Mexico; two sisters, Doris Wallace of Oswego and Helen Berry of Vermilion; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A son, Frederick, died in 1968. A sister, Alice Reed, died in 1996. Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Harter Funeral Home, the Rev. Vivian Summerville officiating. Burial is in Daysville Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico.
