- ARNOLD H. WAITE, EX-WATCHMAN, DIES AT 63

LACONA - Arnold H. Waite, 63, Smartville Road, RD 1, died Sunday morning at his home after a long illness.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with Rev. Virgil H. Hager, pastor of Sandy Creek First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Surviving are his wife, Betty; a son, Charles, Lacona; two grandchildren; three brothers, Wallace, Richland, Gordon, San Antonio, Texas, and Gerald, address unknown; three sisters, Beatrice Verne, Watertown, Beulah Augustine, Watertown, and Beverly Fuertios, Lockport, and several nieces and nephews.
A son, George, died March 23, 1982, at age 26 following an automobile accident. A brother, Willis, died in May 1986.
Born at Richland on July 29, 1924, son of Ora and Henrietta Caird Waite, he was educated in Richland and Pulaski schools.
He married Betty Sherman in September 1948.
Mr. Waite had lived since 1955 in Lacona, where he was employed as a night watchman by the Blount-Parker Corp. for 31 years, retiring in 1983.
