    • Newspaper Obituary - March 29, 2011 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - MARGARET E. DENCE - Margaret E. Dence, 84, lifelong resident of Sandy Creek, died Sunday, March 27, in Oswego. Born Sept. 25, 1926, to Carroll and Beulah Smith Caufield, she graduated from Sandy Creek Central School in 1944. She was a life member, Past President and Secretary of Cable Trail CFW Post #8534 Ladies' Auxiliary in Lacona, a 5-year member of Sandy Creek Grange 127, and a life member of the Oswego County Fair Association. She was also an active volunteer at the Friendship Thrift Shoppe in Sandy Creek. She married Robert Dence on July 9, 1977. A previous marriage to Lewis Wilder ended in divorce. Margaret is survived by two sons, Ronald Wilder of Syracuse and Randy Wilder of Sandy Creek; 2 stepchildren, Robert Dence of Pulaski and Desiree Unnerstall of Hollister, Mo.; 4 sisters, Patricia Brimmer, Anne Egelston, Katherine Ridgeway and Judy Donahue; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, a daughter, JoAnne, a son, Timothy, and 12 siblings. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with a private burial service at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to the Friendship Thrift Shoppe in Sandy Creek.
